I have a hard time understanding this proposal, mostly because Nouns are, in my opinion, already fine art.
The proposal states that its purpose is to "initiate meaningful discussions that can help us position the collection's art as a digital fine art collection," but I struggle to see how this translates into actionable steps. Regardless, Nouns isn’t some PFP project that needs to be recontextualized for museums and schools, it’s a revolutionary CC0 set of building blocks that's making an impact at a global level in a variety of novel and interesting ways.
While I appreciate the intention to elevate Nouns, I believe this approach risks undermining what makes Nouns special. We don't need to conform to traditional art world standards to prove our value. Let’s continue to grow and evolve in ways that are true to the spirit of Nouns as a whole.
