# Aburra (fka Alphacaster): Nouns x Farcaster
TL;DR: Requesting 28 ETH for Aburra (formerly Alphacaster) to explore the frontier of Nouns x Farcaster and build a best-in-class web3 social app. 50% retro and 50% forward funding.
### Overview
Farcaster represents a unique opportunity to decentralize Nouns communication and bring Nounishness to more onchain organizations.
At Aburra, we have been building at the intersection of Nouns and Farcaster since early 2023 and have won Nouns Hack Week for our MVP v1 in April.
Today, Aburra has evolved significantly since its v1. In addition to being both a Nouns client and a Farcaster client, it allows anyone to host Farcaster spaces where listeners can directly vote for proposals.
Our ambition is not just to create the best Nouns client, but to make all DAOs more Nounish by helping them communicate on top of an open and permissionless protocol (i.e. Farcaster).
We also hope to use this prop to see what is possible when you combine two of the best web3 ecosystems - we want to push towards a future where open communication protocol is favored over Discord and Twitter.
### What Aburra has delivered so far
**Applications developed**
- [Alphacaster.xyz](https://Alphacaster.xyz) and WebView-based mobile apps ([iOS](https://testflight.apple.com/join/JLPtu4r8) and [Android](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=xyz.alphacaster.app) - to be combined with the new app): DAO-specific Farcaster feed, governance notifications, enhanced proposal pages with cast-based comments etc.
- A proposal bot ([@alphabot](https://warpcast.com/alphabot)) to convert all props, votes, auctions and propdates into casts
- Beta Aburra app ([iOS](https://testflight.apple.com/join/uLiAhdUA) and web): Been testing it for two weeks and it now supports Farcaster space with native DAO integrations (proposal and voting)
**Current traction**
- Aburra has become the default way for Farcaster users to consume proposals and votes. In the last 30 days, it had 3.9K unique visitors. It also has Warpcast [integrations](https://warpcast.com/dwr.eth/0x3cec05).
- Since we started testing the new app 2 weeks ago, we've hosted 7 Farcaster spaces for Nouns, Purple and Nouns Builder. 70 users have installed the [app](https://testflight.apple.com/join/uLiAhdUA). ### Plan for the next 3 months
- Full integration with Farcaster channels, including reading Nouns channel directly in
the app (and in any space)
- Phase out the old Alphacaster app and merge all functionality into Aburra: this
includes implementing everything (governance feed, proposal pages etc.) natively,
instead of using WebView, which will significantly improve UX
- Better space UX, with native DAO features (NFT minting, droposal, smoother voting etc.)
- Integrate with more Nounish DAOs (and others!)
- Launch Android
### Team
Aburra has 2 full-time team members, billzh.eth ([@billzh](https://warpcast.com/billzh) on FC) and blingbling.eth ([@16](https://warpcast.com/16) on FC). Both of us are experienced developers and have built production-grade consumer applications.
So far we have received 12.9 ETH grants from Nouns Builder ([9 ETH](https://www.alphacaster.xyz/dao/BuilderDAO/prop/48)), Nouns Hack Week ([3 ETH](https://prop.house/nouns/hack-week-developers-developers-developers/5256)) and Warpcast ([~0.9 ETH](https://warpcast.com/v/0xd74872)).
### Ask
The ask is 28 ETH (0.2% of current treasury) to help us continue to build Aburra, specifically:
- 14 ETH retroactive funding for the past 4 months of developments (since our last Nouns BuilderDAO retro [funding](https://www.alphacaster.xyz/dao/BuilderDAO/prop/48))
- 14 ETH for the next 3 months of developments as outlined above
