While animal welfare is a worthy cause and I'm thankful for the work being done here, I'm not sure that it aligns with what I believe is the core mission of Nouns.
As I've mentioned in other props, I think it's worth asking ourselves what we want to see as the outcome of proliferation. I personally believe that 'success' is not found in people buying Nouns, but instead in joining the Nouns community in some shape or form, be it joining the Warpcast channel, putting up a prop themselves to fulfill a creative dream, or getting involved in another nounish project.
In this case, the requested budget is substantial, and I'm concerned about how effectively this would contribute to growing Nouns. I also believe that we as a community should have a more clear perspective on charitable causes. It’s totally fine to simply contribute to a good cause because it’s net positive for the world, but how often do we do that, and how much of the treasury should be dedicated to this type of giving?
Since this is the second phase of funding for Nouns Shelter and there’s not a clear understanding of the proliferation impact from phase one, I have to vote no — and I would personally recommend that any project asking for a second round of funding focus on how the initial phase has proliferated Nouns in a meaningful way.
