\"holster.\" ft. MoRufAs of late, poetry has been a strong source of inspiration for me.\n\nThere’s this poetry book that’s had a GRIP on me for the past few months called “One Last Word” by Nikki Grimes. I’ll do my best to explain the concept here:\n\nNikki shares sections and/or full poems by other poets in this book. She then takes the last word of every line of that excerpt or full poem and writes a new poem where those words are the last word in every line in her version. \n\n[this is an incredible way to find inspiration]\n\nThis specific poem by Nikki I was reading one day took inspiration from a poem called “To Usward” by Gwendolyn Bennett. Nikki took an excerpt of it and wrote poem called “In Search of a Superpower.” There was a specific metaphor Gwendolyn used in her poem about ginger jars on a Chinese shelf. She made the connection by saying “let us be still…not self-contained with smug identity, But conscious of the strength in entity.”\n\nAfter doing some research I discovered that my interpretation about the ginger jars were correct. They are a very strong ingredient used in Chinese cuisine culture. The smell and power are so potent, it lingers even after the jars are closed. Nikki expounded on this metaphor and spoke about well-known superheroes like Wonder Woman and Superman and how “these entities disguised their true might, understanding the advantage of hiding their abilities in plain sight.”\n\nIt made me think about humans and our “superpowers”. Our words, physical strength, brain power, emotions, inner worth, outer worth and how stillness, composure, and self-control are important. As the poetry inspired my production, I began creating this canvas that felt like a western movie and I thought about the toughest and wisest of Cowboys who avoided gun fights until they HAD to fight. \n\nAnd when they finally fought? You found out why they learned stillness, composure, and self-control.\n\nholster. ft. Beauty In The Tears (Visual)PATROSESOn Christmas Eve of 2020 I had a big emotional breakdown.\n\nIt was a huge avalanche of trauma from past experiences, specifically my marriage, and feelings that weren’t properly processed and dealt with over the years finally making me crumble.\n\nImagine bullet proof glass being shot at repeatedly until finally...\n\nI’m no stranger to venting and talking things out with close friends about fall outs with people, marital problems, music industry let downs etc. but in relation to the traumatic events that happened to me throughout life? I didn’t see them as something to dwell on to long. I thought it was just “how life went” and often concluded those traumatic moments as the infamous saying goes “it is what it is”.\n\nHowever, that emotional breakdown pushed me to not only pursue therapy but it also taught me a lesson in FEELing & properly dealing with my emotions post traumatic events. Days, weeks, and even a month later, I would still cry about what happened on Christmas Eve.\n\nThat wasn’t my usual self as I was usually able to “deal “with my emotions in a day or two and keep moving. I didn’t realize I was numb to the emotional abuse for so long, it had finally pierced through the armor I had built up the years.\n\nI felt weak, broken, low and deeply hurt. But through my healing process, sorting through my emotions and embracing my feelings instead of trying to bury the pain, I found the beautiful things and lessons that would help me grow. The beautiful things that would help me keep my cup full.\n\nAnd so, I began to make the music, write, record and this is what was came forth.\n\nI’ve always believed vulnerability was a strength but now I’m stronger than ever…\n\nI’m gold fanged & floweful just like this visual (lol)https://gateway.pinata.cloud/ipfs/bafybeidbw63qjvb7nhse2gxdmptg7oxw7fiiszvirauzxax6fvylohvimihttps://gateway.pinata.cloud/ipfs/bafybeib5ym7vkl57ovcu3qh5fkq246pcny3mlmhue5wcxy5hrr4a5mzxle
Put It On ft. CyancaPATGEN\"Put It On\" is a song about repping and cheering on your authentic self and values as one would rep and cheer their hometown, favorite sports team, artist or anything they feel passionate about.\n\nFor quite some time, I lacked confidence and lost sight of my identity at a young age. From my early teenage years I grew up in a toxic church culture that never celebrated my gifting in music. As a matter of fact, it was discouraged…publicly, in front of an audience of 3,000+ people. That and other traumatic experiences while at this church would damage my view of self and made me believe I wasn’t good enough.\n\nHowever, through wise counsel and therapy over the past year, love from friends & family, prayer and time to reflect, I’ve finally arrived at the point of a confidence like no other. I no longer wonder if I’m good or good enough…I AM great and I am continuously pursuing greatness.\n\nWhile living in this new confidence, this song came in the form of beat produced by yours truly. The hook? Me chanting & cheering myself on and manipulating my vocal takes to sound like a crowd of sampled people chanting. I got together with a good friend of mine and incredible artist, Cyanca and the words just poured out of both of us and was recorded in two short studio sessions.\n\nI want this song to encourage and uplift anyone who has dealt with traumatic experiences to be confident in who they are and the positive values that may have been given to them at a young age. Rep who you are like you would your hometown. Put It On everywhere you go like a varsity jacket for everyone.\n\nUTILITY:\n\nAll owners will be inducted into the Gold Fang Society which will come with its own set of perks, privileges and exclusive content.\n\nOne random owner of this NFT will have a round trip flight ticket paid to be apart of a special event I’m planning for 2023.https://gateway.pinata.cloud/ipfs/bafybeidq7524ag5ohucsmyv3f4gcbvfj73omjlu3lv2junnjlosxxc2geihttps://gateway.pinata.cloud/ipfs/bafybeiaqmqi42uubpye42tb2x6z6mym3ltq57supb6fa7mkwsh3pkkgkim
