AdminWe are targeting a method to make messages take up less gas, additional moderation features, multi-board support and rudimentary Swarm support. The next build may need to be on the Ropsten test network. Hope to have a new public release for you all within the next little while :)
Admin>>11 Voting is doable, may come in a later update to the board software. The target audience for bchat probably isn't going to appreciate voting, might need to make another iteration of the frontend and rebrand. >>12 Gas costs are a drawback right now, I'm not sure if a Swarm database will resolve the issue but it is something I will consider when Swarm becomes more stable. As Ethereum becomes more popular hopefully gas costs will come down. Maybe we can leverage Raiden? We'll see. Just to note, as the board fills up and some threads get pruned after the max thread limit is reached (30) the gas cost goes down a bit. Longer posts will always cost more because of the amount of data you're writing.
Admin>>8 There is the ability to add moderators and submoderators who can delete posts. This functionality isn't in the frontend as of yet but is accessible. You can also delete your own posts if you hover over the options button.
Admin>>1 >What is sebb? sebb (Small Ethernet Bulletin Board) is smart contract software that implements web forum functionality on the Ethereum network. sebb sends and stores data which is accessible by any Ethereum client. Our goal is to showcase the Ethereum platform and smart contract technology by providing an easy and simple to use application. >Why the blockchain over traditional forum hosting? A challenge that many major web forums out there have is obtaining funding to continue their operations. sebb not only offloads the technical work required to a decentralized location, but all costs incurred are paid for by the users through microtransactions. Board owners can then focus on producing board content and moderation. >What is bchat? bchat is a proof-of-concept frontend implementation of sebb. We chose to implement a familiar board style which promotes discussion and is simple and easy to use. >How do I use bchat? Simply visit bchat.org with any web3 enabled browser. At this time the Mist browser and Metamask have been tested. >What does the future hold? As the Ethereum platform develops we are looking to implement ways to fully decentralize the frontend, to reduce posting cost, and to allow decentralized image or file posting.
Welcome to bchat!Adminbchat is an implementation of the sebb (Small Ethereum Bulletin Board) software. All forum functions are located in the Ethereum blockchain! Please remember that this is alpha software, more features are to come!
