Prabowo found Bobby around 2018 at his residence on Jalan Kertanegara IV, Jakarta. Because he felt sorry for the fate of the ownerless cat, Prabowo adopted and cared for him. Prabowo named the cat Bobby. The public only got to know Bobby Kertanegara towards the end of 2018 when a photo of Bobby lying down was first posted on Prabowo's Instagram account.
Once, in between an internal meeting of the Gerindra Party led by Prabowo in Kertanegara, Prabowo fed Bobby. The photo that captured the event then went viral on the internet. After going viral, a special Instagram account was created for Bobby, which was previously named @bobbythek4t. The account was then changed to @bobbykertanegara. Through this account, Bobby's daily life is shared with the public through photos and videos. Until now, Bobby has 864,000 followers on his Instagram account.
Bobby often joins Prabowo's events because he is very much loved. The Gerindra Party DPP once held a cat competition and examination event entitled Living Happily with Bobby the Cat in 2019. On October 20, 2024, after being elected in the 2024 Indonesian Presidential Election, Prabowo brought Bobby with him to live at the Merdeka Palace, Central Jakarta.
