What A Time?This piece took me 6 months in Adobe Fresco. I created this to give honor to my grandmother and my community Orange Mound. I also did this to bring awareness that the things of the past in our country were more recent than long ago. My grandmother Clara L Cox Hill smiling is wearing an emerald crown with angel wings. Her neighbor and best friend, my granny Ree Ree, wearing the parrot feathered gold crown with stardust embroidery stands beside my grandmother. Here is my entire community marching from Orange Mound Park to City Hall in Memphis during the civil rights movement. I reimagined the scene in the ancestral realm speaking life back into their descendants. Often social media has people disillusioned with how long ago major events in our world happened when they are recent events that greatly impact everyone. Since we live in the present understanding our past helps us now to make effective changes in the now.
