Writing Token mint was an overwhelming success, and the secondary market activity has been positive.
This experiment will be not follow traditional NFT hype cycles or a desire to please the market (aside from a few bull-tweets). I actually care a lot about writing, and hope some of you do too.
I want to sincerely thank everyone who read my essay, minted a token or bought on secondary, and especially all the people who reached out personally.

1. Writing NFTs
Writing NFTs are a key primitive in an emergent cultural economy. Few have taken them seriously, I plan on doing so.
Writing Token is an experiment in decentralized literary and cultural production.
WT is a vehicle for me to share my own writing, and work by people I admire.
People say "we are early" a lot, and usually that is bullshit. I firmly believe that when it comes to Writing NFTs, we are *actually* early. But that doesn't matter much unless we make Writing NFTs extremely good + cool.
Mirror will play a significant role in future publications.
2. Project + Community
I am working on this in my personal time, and the development will be unhurried. Writing Token's development will follow the essay writer's natural, patient, and curios pace while exploring new terrain.
Also, the internet moves fast, and this project is born on the internet. There will be lulls, and then weekend or late-night bursts of activity - minting, airdrops, readings - and I hope that via tokenization, and through our networks, we can re-contextualize how people engage with writing online.
This project is not a DAO in current form. It is born out of decentralized communities, and will leverage their power, and will reward its early and loyal supporters.
3. Ideology
Writing Token does not approach text as free content, defined by the needs of an attention economy and the techniques of surveillance capitalism.
WT approaches writing as art, cheap & expensive, found and crafted in many varied forms.
WT will be quiet, and then very loud.
3. Snapshot + Vesting
A snapshot of Essai token holders will be taken within the next 7 days. The snapshot will record # of tokens in a wallet, and may take note of other relevant information.
At a future date, I will introduce a vesting contract. This contract will serve a key function in WT s methods of production and distribution.
More information regarding this vesting contract and its functions will be published when appropriate.
4. A Home
A community member and friend, @0xGokhan on twitter, helpfully volunteered to set up & manage a discord. Gokhan helped inspire this project, and will be a key & trusted collaborator.
