It is a testament to just how wrong things have gone with the DAO (how ineffective spend has been so far and how poor the prospects are for future spend) that it is now seriously considering burning millions of dollars.
Threatening to burn millions of dollars in the hope it will lead to better proposals is like a bank robber putting a gun to his own head and demanding the employees open the safe. There is no chance of achieving the intended outcome and if the DAO/robber follows through on the threat, it’s suicide.
The burn not a novel new experiment in governance, capital allocation, or software development. Wasting money and eliminating optionality by becoming a forced spender (when there is nothing attractive to spend the money on) is a self-evidently bad idea.
If things are truly this dire, then at this point a better alternative would be to force-ragequit the entire DAO and start over from scratch.
i am a big fan of aubtoshi's having funded her through NSFW, and she is one of the most effective and passionate brand advocates the dao has. however, when i think of the potential gain to the dao of sending a single representative to all of these events at this price (regardless of who that ambassador is and how great they are) that i struggle to see the potential benefit to the dao relative to the cost. what makes it challenging is that many of these events are not our typical venues like conferences or hackathons (coachella, cannes, sxsw, burning man, basel) are international party destinations. nothing against those types of places, but i just don't know how to measure success and if the dao gets the bang for our buck for such a significant capital outlay. i am still a supporter of aubtoshi's as the dao's most passionate public advocate and would support a reduced schedule with more clearly defined metrics for success
thoughtful proposal from a talented team, however i think that given the size of nouns dao and the fragmented nature of communication that already exists, there won't be much pmf for a dedicated social network site
I appreciate the time and energy that went into this proposal, but unfortunately I do not think this is a product that I or most other DAO members would ever use. I already have too many different emails, discords, telegrams, whatsapps, imessages, etc, etc, and would prefer to reduce the number of messaging surfaces I have, not add more
i am a huge fan of gami and gnars and all the work they have done and will continue to do. however, at 700 ETH i have to vote against this version of the proposal. i think this is an absolute no-brainer yes at a lower expenditure. i would vote in favor of large proposals with generous compensation for the gnars team to execute on them, but for 700 ETH up front i would prefer things were better defined ahead of time. this is in no way a personal rebuke on anyone involved, i am a big fan of the team, and i would lead the charge on supporting v2 of this proposal at a lower funding cost to nouns dao, and would vote yes on big ambitious well compensated projects that were better defined ahead of time
Not opposed to figuring out how to collaborate with Mr Beast or other high profile celebs in a future iteration of this proposal but agree with others that this needs to be fleshed out and reworked
I have been a very outspoken supporter of the Builder tool for some time, and I view it as a potential piece of core infra to scaling the Nouns protocol. However, like many others, my initial reaction was that the 1000 ETH to bootstrap the DAO is a major ask - one that the DAO needs to carefully consider. Given the success of the Nouns Fair in Colombia, **the ETHGlobal team invited NounsDAOAmigos to make a new edition, this time at ETHSanFrancisco!** We believe it’s important to keep having a presence at IRL events like this. As we saw in Mexico and Colombia, this is a great environment for spreading the ⌐◨-◨ and growing our Spanish-speaker community.

The following are examples of what happened in Bogotá and what we’ll create for San Francisco with a different flavor:
**Photo-opportunity & noggles**
A fully Nouns-branded photo station where attendees can take selfies and full-body photos will serve as a welcoming station. We want to create a photo set where people can feel nounish and share it on the internet. Of course, physical noggles are key.
**Games**
Two different games will be available at the place: **foosball**, and **a traditional local game**. We believe these games have a nounish feeling and will serve as an engagement factor.
**Merchandise**
Pins, stickers, and T-shirts will be distributed as rewards for spending time and engaging with the Nouns Fair by playing games and taking photos.
**NFT gallery**
A 5 screens NFT gallery representing local artists and some nounish representatives.
**Costs and execution**
Given our past experiences and the recent Nouns Fairs at ETHMexico and ETHBogota, we came up with this budget to make it suitable for ETHSanFrancisco in the US. **We are asking for 23.25 ETH**.
Costs are approximate. ETH avg. price of 1,200 USD. Prices in red are not final and we'll seek to reduce costs as much as possible. The difference in these prices will be returned to the DAO.

### Where did Mucho Love come from?
A little bit over a month ago, the prop.house 655 & 656 ([Prop House ](https://prop.house/proposal/656) and [Prop House ](https://prop.house/proposal/655)) passed to fund “Nounifying Children’s Hearts.” This proposal supported the pilot for starting a volunteering community with the target of evolving into a Decentralized Non-Profit Organization.
### What is Mucho Love?
Mucho Love (a lot of love) is a community that seeks to contribute to various causes one event at a time while proliferating Nouns. **Mucho Love is born from the desire to help, creating a community that focuses on volunteer campaigns, community service, and social action**. We seek to impact various causes by addressing problems that affect our society. Mucho Love aims to cultivate a community in which all members feel part of something bigger than themselves, making them feel nounish.
### How does Mucho Love work?
Mucho Love was created by 5 founders, who wear many hats and structured what it is today. We plan to expand the team next year to escalate further and establish more specific scopes. Currently, we have over 30 community members eager to volunteer for the causes we are aiding.
Mucho Love currently works on a 9-step system.
1. **Ideation:** planning and deciding on activities.
2. **Outreach:** contacting the organizations/places, writing letters/petitions, and setting up dates/places.
3. **Chronogram/Requirements:** Itinerary, step-by-step program to be performed on events, pre-event checklist, proofreading.
4. **Quotations:** quotation of each item or service (3 quotations from different companies per item or service)
5. **Payments and Negotiations:** negotiating with businesses, establishing formal relationships, explaining MUCHO LOVE, and paying for services/items.
6. **Pre-Event:** revision of the pre-event checklist, volunteer count, and Zoom meetings with volunteers and multimedia team to prepare for the event.
7. **Event Day:** role call, transportation to the event, itinerary execution, feedback.
8. **Post Event:** post-event multimedia management and feedback from participants.
9. **Documentation:** establishing the framework to replicate the current working system by documenting for the continuous improvement of the project.
### How does this benefit the DAO?
**Charity** is a recurrent activity/topic within the Nounish ecosystem—that’s why we decided to start a nounish volunteering community that makes sure to proliferate Nouns with the values and vision it represents. **Mucho Love aims to become one of the Nounish platforms regarding community service, social work, and volunteering campaigns.** Mucho Love’s activities will all be shared through Twitter and Instagram, appealing to the masses and expanding global Noggle adoption.
Mucho Love is starting operations in the Dominican Republic but aims to develop a model that is replicable internationally. Also, if needed, we want to be able to travel to any part of the world to aid any team who needs help developing charitable efforts in their respective communities.
### Goals
Our goal is to **establish the foundation of Mucho Love as a future Decentralized Non-Profit Organization** **that will allow us to replicate the model in any part of the world.** The structure/model created will be available for any team that wants to make charitable efforts in their respective communities. The pilot successfully helped children feel joy despite going through difficult moments. We also showed what the Noggles are and what they can do. I can genuinely say that the pilot was a success; the Noggles were well received, and we helped out 300 children and their parents while proliferating Nouns, love, and optimism.

**PROPOSAL: Nouns Booth @ COMEX Singapore**
**TL;DR:** To organize a 4 DAY Nouns Booth at COMEX Singapore
**CONTEXT:**
COMEX Singapore is the biggest and most anticipated IT/Tech show held annually in Singapore, with an average of 350,000 - 450,000 visitors. This year COMEX will be held at SUNTEC CONVENTION CENTER a prime location in Singapore from 1-4th SEP 2022 (4 days) taking up to 6 halls (Hall 401-406), but what is different this year would be that COMEX have partnered up with WEB3SG as its official NFT/Crypto partner for this year show. The four main areas that will be invited to take part in this year COMEX would be:
* Social-Fi
* DeFi
* GameFi
* NFTs
**LOCATION:**
As Singapore has been listed as the top few countries most interested in NFTs/Web3 Technology, with a monthly search volume of 18,717 per one million in population. COMEX have allocated a prime location for NFT/Crypto at this year event, which is directly at the entrance of Hall 401-402 (the very first hall).
This ensure that the space get maximum foot traffic from the whole event.
**WHAT IS NOUNS BOOTH?**
It will be a IRL experience at COMEX Singapore to spread Nouns to a wider audience, both crypto/NFTs native and not. It’s a IRL brand recognition that aims to create authentic and memorable user connection. It will serve as an activation, a proliferation pod to grow the Singapore Nouns community; to onboard new contributors.
**DETAILS ⌐◧-◧**
Nouns Booth @ COMEX Singapore will be an experience for visitors where they will be able to understand Nouns by engaging with the booth. The booth serves as an activation and brand recognition that consists of at least 5 engagement points. By interacting with the booth, visitors not only get to understand what Nouns is but also stand a chance to win themselves some Nounish goodie which helps to solidify the brand recognition. The engagement points are designed to instill a memorable user connection to Nouns.
**TYPES OF INTERACTIONS**
**1. Feature Wall - Photo Opportunity**
A Nounish featured wall will be created as part of Nouns Booth design. The objective of this engagement point is to allow visitors to take full body photo, selfie or group photo and share them on their social media(s), tagging Nouns Booth @nounsinsg (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook). This will allow me to build the foundation of our social presence as well as the growth of Nouns SG community. Having their photo taken and shared will be the very first step in engaging with Nouns Booth.
**2. Flip-Flop**
The objective for this engagement point is to have visitors familiarize/recognize Nouns artwork. This mini game objective is to match all pairs of Nouns within a given time-frame. There will be 6 different pairs of Nouns (made into cards), every one of them will be shuffled and placed faced down. At every one time, player is able to flip 2 cards, if they are a match, player is allowed to continue and flip another 2 cards but if they do not match, player have to place those 2 cards back into face down position before flipping open another 2 cards. Game ends when player matches all 6 pairs of Nouns. Player will be qualified for a chance to win a Nounish goodie if completed within the given time-frame.
**3. Nouns Run**
The objective for this engagement point is to have visitors experience project that was created by fellow Nouner and introduce what CC0 is. This engagement point will also help boost the usage of Nouns Run app. For this point, player will have to download “Nouns Run” from App or Play store and score a min. of 200M in the game to be qualified for a chance to win a Nounish goodie.
**4. Nounpedia**
The objective for this engagement point is to allow visitors to understand what Nouns is by answering a series of simple questions. A brochure that contain information about Nouns which also double up as a questionnaire for Nounpedia will be distributed to all visitors. Answer to the questionnaire can be easily found in the brochure. To qualify a chance to win a Nounish goodie, all 6/6 questions have to be answered correctly.
**5. Nouns Live Auction**
The objective of this engagement point is to showcase Nouns daily auction LIVE.
**6. Wheel Of Fortune**
At this engagement point, visitors get a chance to spin the wheel of fortune base on the no. of engagement points they completed to win themselves some Nounish goodies. Each engagement point completed equate to 1 chance to spin the wheel.

**SUMMARY**
This will be a great opportunity to create a Nounish IRL experience which is spread across 4 days of activation at one of the largest most anticipated annual event in Singapore; an opportunity to have Nouns branding reach out to a wider audience.
As COMEX is held on 1-4th Sep, this gives me a timeline of around 1 month. If proposal is able to pass and fund received within this week, majority of the funds will be converted to fiat as outlay for manufacturing Nounish goodies, remaining funds will be transfer to WEB3SG (ETH) as payment for the booth space at COMEX. I have already designed and created the files for the booth, thus I can pass them to WEB3SG who will manufacture and erect the booth. I will focus on overseeing the process as well as focusing on execution and administrative work prior to COMEX.
**LONG TERM GOAL**
I will continue to grow Nouns Singapore community under @nounsinsg, with Nouns Booth as the initiate activation. Nounsinsg will serve as a proliferation pod, guidance and point of contact for new contributor as well as creating more IRL Nounish experience in the future. Similar to Aubtoshi, a personal long-term goal is to officially be a Nouner. Until then, I will continue to proliferate Nouns in ways that are fun and effective that I can make possible. A IRL activation that I've been working on would be "NOUNISH BEACH CLEAN UP' which was passed and supported by SMALL GRANT. I have had the absolute pleasure of building on Nouns DAO as a Core Contributor for the better part of this year, and would love nothing more than if the DAO would support me to continue working for the DAO with the majority of my time.
### Background
After joining Nouns DAO in the first month of the project's inception, I have been fortunate enough to have the DAO's unanimous support to be compensated to work for the DAO in a variety of roles.

**1. Small Grants (SG)**
The Nouns DAO Small Grants and Retroactive Funding Pool was originally formed in [November 2021](https://nouns.wtf/vote/13). Since then, SG has evolved into flexible pool of capital that is managed on a fully discretionary basis to serve the DAO's interests in a variety of ways.
I am the lead for SG and I manage its day to day operations. As the DAO has grown, incoming inquiry has scaled with it. Running SG is what I spend most of my time on every day. The group does not presently have an operational budget, and my compensation for this work is included as part of my role as Core Contributor.
I'm very proud of what has been accomplished so far at SG. The group has funded many builders and projects (detailed below) that have generated tremendous value for the DAO. Many of the DAO's most successful proposals started as a trial sponsored by SG, and many of the DAO's most valuable community members were funded/onboarded by SG when they first joined the community. In my experience running SG for the better part of a year, I have seen many instances in which a 1 ETH grant can generate more value to the DAO than an 100+ ETH proposal. The crypto ecosystem is rife with rugs and scams, and that is precisely why our generosity on the individual level leaves such a lasting impression and inspires such fierce loyalty.
Today, SG serves multiple roles for the DAO: we are the DAO's working capital, a Nounish venture pod, and an onboarding tool. SG has the flexibility to quickly:
* Fund exciting smaller proposals (in concert with Prop House)
* Vet new builders and derisk new projects by funding trials ahead of sponsoring larger on-chain proposals
* Be a first point of contact and source of funding to onboard new community members
* Retroactively reward builders
* Provide time-sensitive and milestone based funding as a part of larger proposals
* Fill other ad hoc daily capital needs of the DAO (contests, bug bounties, etc)
My daily work on SG includes:

**2. Community Building: Onboarding New Nouners / Weekly Calls**
Since I first joined the DAO a year ago, I have reached out to every new member to organize an onboarding call. To date, I have done over 100+ of these calls. If you are voting this proposal, we have likely had one of these calls - if we haven't please reach out to me on Discord!
Additionally, I host the weekly [US Nouner Town Hall call every Tuesday at 5:30pm ET](https://hackmd.io/@noun22/nounweekly). The call initially started as an informal meet and greet where we first got the opportunity to hear each other's voices and get to know each other, and has evolved into a more structured format where we discuss and form consensus on topical issues.
I host these calls not just to meet and build relationships with fascinating, cool, like-minded people, but I view them as integral to creating and strengthening a sense of community within the DAO.
Nouns is the most exciting and innovative project in crypto, but we cannot become complacent and view our success as inevitable. The DAO's greatest long term threat is member apathy and disengagement - particularly as we have entered into what may be a lasting crypto bear market. Members who feel lost or confused will quickly become inactive members, and the DAO will suffer as a result.
I will continue to use my experience in the role to foster an atmosphere of open communication and experimentation where every community member feels they are able to contribute to the DAO. Everyone needs to feel that their opinions are heard and their proposal ideas are fairly considered. In my role, I try and be a neutral go-between and source of feedback to maintain harmony within the DAO.
My involvement with Nouns has been the absolute high point of my career. I have never felt this level of excitement and optimism about my work. Thanks for reading this, and I look forward to continuing to Nounify The World with you all ⌐◨-◨

Seoul is home to 15+ million people and a lot of interest in blockchain and NFTs among the population. The Korean government, businesses, and people are interested in blockchain and the NFT space. Hangang river is surrounded by two highways and will be a perfect place to reach many people during rush hours. The two-way distance will be around 40+ kilometers. This could be a great opportunity to advertise NounsDAO and attract potential future members and developers.
- I know lots of sailors who want to participate in the Nouns Seoul PR campaign. I will create a fleet of five J/24 sailboats and sail along the river from Kimpo international airport to Itaewon bridge and back. This event is going to be organized for NounsDAO. There will be only 5 sailboats with spinnakers with painted Nouns Glasses logos.
- The idea is to make as many people remember Nouns-glasses. Images of Nouns glasses on 5 sailboats in the middle of the river will spark curiosity in the minds of the bypassers. This campaign is not a spam-like poster or post that many of us learned to ignore without noticing. People would remember Nouns glasses and later when they attend a conference or buy NFTs they would recognize the Nouns symbol and would eventually come straight to the NounsDAO!
- The spinnakers are big and span an area of 8 meters in height and 4 meters in width. After the regatta, I think the best use for sails is to give them to the sailing teams. There are about five good regattas every year in Korea, I will provide more content free of charge when we race at different events with the Nouns-themed sails. I am sure pretty spinnakers with Nouns Glasses would be appreciated by the teams and be used for many years!

# Retain builder to work on nouns.wtf for 6 months

### TLDR
I have been the Nouns DAO engineering resident for the last 3 months (funded under Prop 17) and I requesting a 6 month continuation of my residency.
### What I did during Prop 17
My residency under Prop 17 had the following goals:
1. Update the UX of the auction page and integrate it with the Noun profile pages
2. Update the UX of the governance page
3. Update the UX of the proposal page
I achieved all of these goals during Prop 17. In addition, I also took it upon myself to do the following:
1. Created the (recently revamped) nounsstats.wtf page which provides insight into Noun rarity and Noun Governance participation
2. Created (pro bono) a bot to automatically create snapshot votes for Shark DAO based on the creation of new on-chain Nouns DAO proposals
3. Helped automate parts of Bidder POAP
4. Review PRs for nouns.wtf
### What I will do during my next residency
I have two main goals for my next residency:
#### Continue to maintain nouns.wtf
I will be taking on more of an ownership role of nouns.wtf going forward. This means that in addition to reviewing inbound PRs, I will be responsible for ongoing bug fixes and improvements.
One particular task to call out as part of improvements is getting to a few UI details that we didn't have time for during Prop 17 (ex: bid history modal).
#### Make nouns.wtf more robust, extensible, and contributor friendly
1. Revamp CI / CD pipeline to allow easy deploy to prod (process right now is very manual)
2. Add real time error monitoring so we can rollback bad changes quickly with minimal negative user impact
3. Generally improve code quality and documentation of the codebase to make it more contributor friendly (in particular, documentation around our Github processes to make it easier for new contributors to onboard)
4. Refactor nouns.wtf to use a nouns component library to allow people to easily build on our “look and feel”
5. Localize nouns.wtf to increase the reach of our brand to non-english audiences
6. Security audit to assess risk and patch any potential exploits should they exist
### Proposed workflow
I propose the following framework for tracking my progress and giving the DAO visibility into my work.
#### Monthly updates
I will give monthly written updates to the DAO. These will be akin to investor update emails.
They will include:
1. What did I say I was going to get done last month
2. What of that did I actually get done
3. What am I committing to getting done in the coming month
#### Project scoping docs
For every distinct project I take on, I will write a short scoping doc (1-2 pages) which I will share with the community for visibility (either on Discord or Github). In this context one project roughly equals one bullet point in the section of my goals (ex: localize nouns.wtf would be one project).
These scoping docs will include the following information:
1. Project goals (project must do x, should do y)
2. Project non-goals (what, if anything, is explicitly out of scope)
3. High level description of technical aspects of proposed change
4. Project milestones with ETAs
#### Github projects + Discord
In addition to tracking progress at the project level, I will continue to use Github issues, Github projects, and frequent updates to the Nounders (in a private project Discord channel) to promote accountability and give the DAO visibility into my daily work.
### Proposed compensation
I propose that I am compensated 62.52414 ETH over 6 months (10.42069 ETH per month distributed via a Sablier stream).
I think this is a fair rate for 2 reasons:
1. 22's recent proposal passed at this rate. We were both previously funded by Prop 17
2. This rate is fairly in line (in fact a bit lower) on an annualized + USD converted basis with what I was making in my previous normie tech job / what I was offered by normie tech companies when I recently interviewed (~4 months ago)
### Closing thoughts
I believe that over the last 3 months, I've show that I can execute with little oversight and generate value for the DAO (in excess of original project scope). I have greatly enjoyed building with all of you over the last 3 months and hope you will give me the opportunity to continue with you on this great journey.

**Contributor Info**: My name is Josh and I own Plutus Media, a full service marketing agency based in NYC. In collaboration with a Los Angeles based business partner, WOW Media, I am proposing this unique outdoor placement for the Nouns! I am able to place media on Randy’s Donuts, a landmark donut shop in Inglewood, CA. Maybe you’ve seen it featured in Iron Man 2 when Tony Stark was eating a donut in the Iron Man suit on the donut.
**Where**?: Randy’s Donuts- 805 W Manchester Blvd, Inglewood, CA 90301
**When**?: Based on time to go live, the placement is available the entire month of March. So any week within March can be reserved.
My goal for this is to present the Nouns with a unique and viral outdoor advertising opportunity worthy of the DAO and Nouns brand. Something that everyone will talk about, share, and appreciate.
This outdoor placement is in true Nouns style, and not the typical Times Square NFT placement. The donut is also illuminated when the sun is down, so the donut will always be visible since Randy’s is open 24/7. The placement can be live for up to 3 weeks.
This Nouns glasses placement involves fabricating an over 30 foot pair of Nouns glasses and placing them directly in front of Randy’s Donut. Glasses will be fabricated using an aluminum frame with fabric, vinyl or mesh stretched over the frame to match artwork. Randy’s Donuts does not allow anything to puncture the donut statue, so the only option is having these glasses sit on a discreet frame.

# 100 DAYS OF NOUNS (Coloring Book Series)

**Why Coloring Books?**
* It expands the current crypto native zone to a more mainstream audience.
* All characters incentivize exploration, curiosity, or time for playing and learning.
* Foster creativity and well being, improve focus and relieve stress.
* Can create family bonding time if the activity is shared with relatives.
* It makes co-creators, people who paint them will make their own version of the page.
* Could prepare and draw the attention of the next generation of artists who want to make spin-offs based on Nouns.
**A Coloring book series.**
* 30 days of Nouns (round 1, 2, 3).
* 100 days of Nouns, a fourth book bundling up the past 3 versions plus the remaining nouns and bonus pages between all of them to divide the whole series inside the book and keep it organized.
* 100 unique hand-drawn pages depicting the life of each Noun.
30 days of Nouns consists of 30 hand-drawn “mandalas” for a coloring book including 30 nouns per book plus a couple of bonus pages that can be painted as well. Additionally, each book will explain what NounsDAO is, what’s the main purpose of the community and the goal of the organization.

**Physical Books:**
A physical book will be developed to be printed on demand through Amazon and expand even further the public of Nouns. These physical books will be designed and packaged for convenience purposes (it could be gifted to friends and/or family members around the world, avoiding the hassle of print all the pages and dealing with logistics by themselves)

The book cover of the first book (Round 1) is already finished alongside its 30 pages, but I’m polishing small details like formatting and editing.
I’m currently developing the second round of the series (book 2).
The first book will be published at the end of January like I mentioned in Discourse (Although I’m highly tempted to use February 2nd as a special date to publish it), but it could be discussed with Nouners/Nounders.

**About my collaboration with Nouns:**
I’ve developed 10 coloring pages for NounsDAO under the small grants and retrofunding pool. After the 10th page, NounsDAO made a coloring contest where everyone had the opportunity to paint and send multiple entries. The contest was a huge success and there were a lot of people who even recruited family members to join the party.

# Refill Retroactive Funding and Small Grants Pool
Proposal by Noun 22
The Retroactive Funding and Small Grants Pool is running low on ETH and needs to be refilled. Since [inception](https://nouns.wtf/vote/13) the group has funded a number of project trials, Nouns derivatives, tattoos, ⌐◨-◨s, and other contributions to the Nouns ecosystem. This group was formed with an initial pool of 20 ETH. This proposal would top up the group's multisig with another 50 ETH.
This proposal also includes a 0.07 ETH gas reimbursement for submitting the on-chain proposal.
# A Very Nounish Gitcoinmas NFT Crossover Event
*Written by Noun 12 but he can't propose because there's only 1 Live Proposal per proposing address at a time.*
The proposal is for Nouns DAO to become a matching partner to the tune of 169 ETH for the Gitcoin Grants Round 12 starting December 1st. We will also commission the artists behind the successful Gitcoin Moonshot Bot NFTs to make a series of 5 Moonshot Nouns, 1 of which will be auctioned over the course of the round with the proceeds going to Gitcoin general fund, and 4 of which will go to winners that the Nouns community selects from each GR12 category (Climate, Advocacy, Longevity, Ethereum), in a limited edition NFT crossover event.

**What's Gitcoin?**
* Gitcoin is a crypto-native public goods funding and open source jobs & coordination platform successfully built and spun out of Consensys into a DAO with its own ERC-20 ($GTC). [Gitcoin has raised $40 million for open source and public goods funding in its lifetime](https://gitcoin.co/results). One popular Gitcoin feature has been quarterly funding rounds for grants to public goods and open source projects that are accompanied with quadratic matching by sponsors. That quadratic matching is designed to assess both the quantity and quality of support that a given project gets, creating an effective way of measuring dollar voting without descending into plutocracy. These rounds, the energy and money they incubated for public goods, have been a great success for the Ethereum community in general. Gitcoin has raised tens of millions of dollars through their GRs alone.

**How does Nouns DAO benefit?**
* **Fund the public goods from which we were created and on which are future depends.** Who's going to build the roads? We are.
* **Signal to the Ethereum, crypto, open source, and builder communities that our ethos aligns with theirs.** We will be the one of largest matching partners, if not the #1. [The Ethereum Foundation is giving $500k specifically for the Advocacy category](https://blog.ethereum.org/2021/11/16/advocacy-grants/) for example.
* **Make it normative for DAOs to support both crypto and real world public goods just as part of their DNA.** Everyone benefits from this, it's a good seed for open source crypto and decentralized organizations, because we are and always will be all in this together. We're leaders, let's lead.
* **Marketing to the types of creators and builders we want to attract for Nouns proposal that we are open for business.** Gitcoin projects have huge overlap with the types of projects and creators we would consider funding. It's a large gm to them all.
* **Demonstration that business should be sealed with NFT miscegenation and crossover events**. In this case, between Noun DAO's NFT and Gitcoin's. Who knows what this type of NFT-rooted relationship could evolve into but there's memetic consistency in sealing a deal with an NFT crossover event. Worst case, we have created more fun symbolically important art. Best case it creates deeper ways to engage and collaborate with fellow DAOs or boomer organizations like Arby's.
**Moonshot Nouns**
* These will be 5 NFTs, made and managed on the Gitcoin side with input from the Nouns side.
* Will feature both Moonshot Bot and Nounish elements in some fashion. Obviously, the most distinctive Nounish element are our glasses but there's also the distinctive heads which could be of use. Artist may make a themed one for each category (Climate, Advocacy, Longevity, Ethereum) and then one uber-one.
* The uber-one NFT will be auctioned on the 1st or 2nd of the round with an auction set to end on the 2nd to last day of the Round (December 11th). Auction will be promoted on both Nouns and Gitcoin side. Proceeds will go to Gitcoin general fund or multisig.
* The category Moonshot Noun NFTs will be doled out to a champion from each category, determined by a process we run on the Nouns side. Likely a small Nouns team will pick the top 10 projects in each category and then put it up for vote to the public. Potentially we can create a polling page on Nouns.wtf to drive engagement directly to our home rather than Twitter. TBD.

**Steps and Timing**
1. Gitcoin principals and Nouns principals are spun up and planning. Completed.
2. Push Proposal onchain.
3. The grant to the Gitcoin multisig is straightforward and there's no execution issues with it other than passing a vote. Late November.
4. Prelim NFT sketches have been made and that side is in process.
5. We will collaborate on a Gitcoin blog post that will go out at the launch of the round, and in conjunction with starting the auction for the uber-one Moonshot Noun on Opensea. Nouns side will push the voting for projects starting midway through the round. December 6th.
6. Voting concludes, Opensea auction concludes, we distribute the NFTs to the winners. December 12-13th.

### Descripton
Nouns has the opportunity to fund a designer, engineer, and community lead in residency to help push forward day-to-day efforts. Scope for these contributions is considered open-ended, and will be defined on a monthly cadence with the input of the Nounders & the community. This proposal seeks to bring on three individuals with deep interest in the Nouns ecosystem, and a proven track record of delivering value on short timelines & at an early stage.
### Context
As part of their original contributions, the Nounders built [Nouns.wtf](http://Nouns.wtf), home to daily Noun auctions, governance, an exploratory playground, and details of the project and its motivations. Given the rapid increase in interest and usage of the Nouns products, we propose bringing on world-class design & engineering resourcing to help iterate on the future of [Nouns.wtf](http://Nouns.wtf).
Many Nounders remain involved in varying capacities in day-to-day community affairs, but the demands of the role are non-trivial and [critical to the success of any DAO](https://twitter.com/punk4156/status/1450990370528141315?s=20). We propose bringing on a talented community lead who will help strengthen the sense of shared purpose within the Nouns community.
### Scope
Scope for these contributors will be defined on an on-going basis with input from Nounders, Noun owners, and the greater Nouns community. Contributors will be expected to communicate their deliverables & timelines in a public manner at least once per month.
For the design & engineering roles, the initial set of scope includes maintenance and improvements to [Nouns.wtf](http://Nouns.wtf). For the community role, contributions include (but are not limited to) scheduling & leading community calls, internal & external communications, Discord management, and onboarding of new DAO members.
### Expectations
Contributors are responsible for documenting and communicating their decisions & output. Updates should be shared early and often, encouraging Nounders and community members to provide input given the shared vision for the Nouns ecosystem. Contributors are expected to be responsive, but are free to define the working style which lends itself to the best outcomes. The commitments will last for **3 months**, or 90 days, after which point this proposal will be resubmitted to extend the working relationship.

### Compensation
We believe that the NounsDAO could fund this proposal, decreasing the burden of project maintenance on the Nounders and increasing the lifespan of product & community development for the community. For this initial trial, compensation will be paid out via streaming payments on Sablier. Each contributor will be paid `~5.9 ETH` per month, for approximately three months, or `~17.69 ETH` over 91 days. In the case of poor performance, the `cancelStream` method may be invoked, returning funds to an escrow and the contributor(s) pro-rata based on time elapsed.

# Retroactive Funding and Small Grants Pool
> *tl;dr -- Encourage creators (artists and devs) to build with Nouns by having a pool of funds held in a Safe for this purpose. The Safe will be used immediately to recognize existing a few creators in our community while also allowing fast funding of small, one-off, or alpha version projects as they appear.*
### Past and Fast
While Nouns DAO governance works well for larger projects, the multi-step, on-chain proposal process is not ideal for encouraging small, one-off, or alpha versions of projects/tooling. Despite this, many Nouns community members have added to the ecosystem and it would be great to honor their contribution.
To solve both of these issues, we'd like to propose that a pool of capital be sent to a Nouners controlled Safe. A Safe is much quicker mechanism to coordinate and distribute funds. We would like 20 ETH to pilot the pool, with a suggested range of 0.25-2 ETH per project, with the aim of:
1. acknowledging, through retroactive funding, past contributions to the Nouns ecosystem
1. granting funds for the development of small, one-off, or alpha version projects
1. encouraging building and signalling that retroactive funding is a viable way to build on Nouns
### Funding Committee
The initial signing committee on the Safe will be:

-  Nouns DAO
The Safe will require `2 of 4` Nouners to sign, with Nouns DAO acting as a largely symbolic owner and backup.
The committee will monitor the builder community, retroactively fund previous work as it comes up, and receive informal requests/applications for small project grants. The projects and amounts will be at the committee's discretion.
