The prop also doesn't talk about what this distribution deal actually look like ? Are they retrofunding you some of production cost , sponsoring more episodes etc etc. Just surface level numbers do not mean much in this case. > > > > - Sunny is traveling with his crew and Nouns is paying full comp for this down to the park authorizations. Not sure if they looked at finding a local crew was explored (travel cost is 40% of your budget) > > > > - “It’s challenging to compare proposals, Nicaragua is a much cheaper country compared to the US. We are keeping our costs to a minimum to deliver a project of 5x higher quality (5 episodes) and produce a series that people will want to watch. This is a full-time 5-month project.” - Ricky's comment stuck with me. Why did this have to be done in California (historically an expensive location to fly in and film). Could you potentially achieve the same goal in a location which helps you achieve the documentary output and its core takeaway lessons? > > > > > > I would be leaning yes at a lower cost because spirit of the proposal is in a right place. (I liked the previous prop)
thank you facu for stepping up and proposing. your work over the years is v appreciated. i would be supportive of a version of this as an initial trial before pursuing a full blown book production. maybe showcase what you're dreaming up of at a smaller scale and then go for a bigger ask? either way, thank you! +1 > I think this is a project the dao should do and that will serve Nouns well. A lot of us came to love Nouns because the pixels are just so insanely good, and a project that celebrates onchain pixels as art in its own right is something ive been waiting for. I feel like theres a lot of parallels to draw to Cryptopunks with the way Facu wants to present Nouns in this project, and im excited about that. > > That said, I also think the 160k funding ask is somewhat high in the current financial state of nouns. My suggestion would be to keep the overall goal — "to expand the current meaning of the collection from PFP to digital fine art" — but decouple the website from the book, and begin with the website/video as the first deliverable. > > PS. Thanks again for taking this on Facu, i love the teasers and overall presentation/structure of this prop.
love the prop, would support a scaled down v +1 > i'm supportive of a nounish tabletop board game community but i feel like this prop is asking for WAY too much. we rarely fund $150k+ props for a new project in a new vertical. also not clear to me that something like this should be started top down with a lot of funding in this way and not more grassroots slowly bottoms up.
A Noun is a small price to pay for the time and experience of the artists expanding the infinite art project that is Nouns. The tastemakers make sure that Nouns maintains its high touch feel, even at the lowest levels of fidelity (32x32 canvas!). Also, I find that the thoughtful addition of art via props is entertaining, specially when the process of the work is included.
+1 > Very supportive of streaming. Think this is a novel funding mechanism which has the potential for better capital allocation and reduced voter/proposer fatigue. > > Vrbs products are impressive, we would be lucky to have them building for Nouns.
+1 > This is certainly an organic and authentic opportunity to infuse the event with ⌐◨-◨ > > I hope for more thought being put into the overall integration beyond "Powered by ⌐◨-◨" - it's too sterile for Nouns. I believe there is more fun and engaging ways for a partner integration at this specific event.
+1 > Tbc, this is not a homerun prop for me and the outcome is not super clear, but i have a strong conviction in Nouns enabling its biggest fans to do their thing. Provide them the runway needed to spread nouns organically in their (creative) circles. > > Nouns thrives when people do things with great passion (and struggles when we fund people to do checkbox exercises), and in that department i trust The Park to deliver. > > +1 > > > I want to preface my vote on this proposal by acknowledging a potential bias: I'm good friends with Derek, and we're collaborating on Prop 450. However, I'm not affiliated with The Park, and I consider this proposal separate from our ongoing work. Additionally, while I used to work with FWB, I haven't done so professionally for about a year and will be attending this year's event as a participant. > > > > Derek played a pivotal role in introducing me to Nouns and sparking my interest in contributing. His commitment to the Nouns ecosystem is evident: He constantly rocks a noggle earring, dedicates time and energy to Nounish projects, and showcases Nouns when talking about his work onchain. A Lil Nouns Coffee event a couple of years ago, which Derek organized, was my first 'nounish' IRL experience. > > > > Derek played a pivotal role in introducing me to Nouns and sparking my interest in contributing. They brought Nounish builders to the event and effectively showcased the heart of Nouns to a crowd of onchain natives and curious individuals. This audience, gathered to discuss building a better future internet, was perfectly primed to engage with Nouns' approach to decentralized creativity and governance. The Park's presence not only increased visibility for Nouns but also fostered meaningful conversations about the project's potential future impact. > > > > Regarding Lilfrog's comment about community members repping Nouns voluntarily rather than for payment, I understand the sentiment but believe it misses the mark here. Derek and the collective of The Park have consistently represented Nouns at various events, including Coachella - all unpaid. There's a clear distinction between casually repping Nouns at events (which Derek already does) and executing a structured, comprehensive representation strategy as outlined in this proposal. > > > > Lilfrog also asked if the money would be better served creating our own Nouns event. That’s an admirable desire (and something I know others in our community are very much working on), but that would be on a budgetary scale vastly different from what this proposal is scoped for. > > > > This prop offers an immediate and concrete plan for representation at a major event happening in the near future. It allows us to seize a timely opportunity to showcase Nouns alongside other major players in the ecosystem via a nounish DAO that represents the community well. The Park's track record demonstrates that they have the ability to create meaningful, impactful activations. > > > > It’s a yes from me ☻
+1 > Agree that physical goods often don’t scale as well as digitally native products unless they manage to stand out and gain online momentum through a campaign (and even that might not be enough to sell). > To me, the ring feels either too generic or not generic enough. > I vote against based on the DAO’s history with wearables and my gut feeling regarding the product - Im just not that excited about it. > Thank you for the proposal
+1 > Ryo, i 100%, truly love what youre doing, but this proposal is not strong enough for me to warrant the asking price. > > My main concern is that the design of the Nouns Archax is not very compelling. It looks like a bunch of stickers slapped onto one of your current models. > > Personally i would be happy to allocate > 1M usd to building nounish mechas but the connection needs to be deeper and more meaningful (instead of surface level "sponsorship" which this prop feels like to me). > > I hope to see a v2 of this prop!
+1 > What is not to love about this? > - Great trait concept and execution > - the 'Why' paragraph is heartfelt and gets his own visual campaign > - the 'Design Considerations' are so spot on it makes me want to update the Noundry guidelines page > - Love how you personalized the template. This is the way to submit new traits. The bar is high. > Well done Facu!
One thing I’ve changed my mind on from the earlier days of Nouns is to be more practical and less of a purist. Maybe a proxy to the maturity of the projects? Either way, I hear the concerns of decentralization but think this is good for what is here now.
I hear the concerns but don’t agree with the premise that one should build a protocol that then translates to a product. The reason we sunset prop house was due to the lack of flexibility a protocol-first approach allows. In a fast moving market, flexibility and speed are critical. We are building product-first to have reassurance of reality to then build out a protocol that would be actually be useful. As we learn about the market in tandem with the state of the tech available, we build out the next piece of the puzzle. We did not outline our roadmap for decentralization for the above reasons. However, we do have one in place. We already have distribution onchain, next are round contracts that are composable in the context of onchain communities and once the tech is ready (no good solutions today, we’re actively looking), we will tackle submissions & voting. As for bias and research budgeting: this is why we need more resources :) one of the priorities over q3 and q4 will be to develop a more robust algorithm. Lastly: products evolve. 4 months ago the *idea* for rounds did not even exist. it’s only reasonable to consider the stage/timeline when judging execution.
Would like to clarify that Nouncil's claim that Nouns has funded Prop House $4.5M is not true. To date, Prop House has received $2.35M covering operational expenses for 3 years worth of work ('22 - '24). At an average team size of 3 + contractors, Prop House spend levels are in tune with market rates. A breakdown of the Prop House funding proposals: ![ph-funding](https://i.imgur.com/vRy6RPx.png)
Thank you for taking the time to propose. - I like the app, I’ve used it a few times to find a specific Noun - The app showcases an understanding of Nouns culture which I enjoy (explorer, color palettes, mario loader, etc) - I think the prop itself is confusing, would go a long way to sharpen out the scope and make it more focused - As much as I like the app and am grateful for the time spent building on Nouns, the ask feels too steep for the lack of usage and/or vision to get excited about I’d vote for on a reduced and more focused scope. Good luck and thanks for proposing.
better-price-discovery-for-proposalsFOR in theory but unsure how it plays out in practice. Some concerns that come to mind: - Does this put the burden of pricing work on the voter? - Is the tradeoff in UX worth it? One really beautiful aspect of Nouns voting is the simplicity of it. - Will voters lean towards always voting for the min in order to derisk the prop? Seems like the game theory would drive everyone to that end. And if they do land at some point in the pricing range - are we back at square one? Above are just thoughts to be considered. My biggest concerns is the UX complexity introduced for the voters. Governance shouldn’t feel like work. note; there was a prop a long time ago about this.
I appreciate Bower for coming back for another prop. Both this one and the Ledger prop werre well written and professional. Thank you. However, going to abstain as I can’t see a real use case for this.

Historically, we averaged about 20-30 ETH per month through the [Nouns house](https://offchain.prop.house/nouns) in [prop.house](https://prop.house) (exempt outlier rounds). # Fund Retroactive Rounds via Rounds.wtf **tldr:** Allocate 250 ETH towards retroactive rounds via rounds.wtf. **Context:** [Prop 506](https://www.nouns.camp/proposals/506) passed on Feb 26, 2024 where the Prop House team received 50 ETH to deploy via [Rounds.wtf](https://rounds.wtf). We proposed “exploring a new UX via Farcaster for Nouns to allocate funds through.” **What's happened since then:** Some of the experiments we ran since the last prop to get us where we are today: - Reply to cast as a way to submit - Tagging the @roundsbot to submit - All casts filtered by eligible users’ likes as submissions (ding ding ding) - Reply to submission and stand alone casts as notifications - Dedicated channels for running rounds - Media / mint / tags only rounds - Deployed v1 & v2 of our claims contracts **Nouns rounds results:** - 3k+ submissions with rewards - 1k+ unique users - 27 rounds executed Allocations were as follows: - [/nouns](https://warpcast.com/~/channel/nouns): 11 rounds, 32 ETH - [/nouns-animators](https://warpcast.com/~/channel/nouns-animators): 7 rounds, 14 ETH - [/nouns-propdates](https://warpcast.com/~/channel/nouns-propdates): 5 rounds, 2.4 ETH - [/nouns-draws](https://warpcast.com/~/channel/nouns-draws): 4 rounds, 5 ETH The best way to get a real sense of the results is to visit each channel individually via [rounds.wtf](https://rounds.wtf). **Ask:** 250 ETH, 100% will be used towards funding Nouns contributors.fund-retroactive-rounds-via-rounds.wtf

We proposed “exploring a new UX via Farcaster for Nouns to allocate funds through.” **What's happened since then:** We've created an engine to perpetually incentivize attention by rewarding the long tail of Nouns contributors with zero additional effort on behalf of Nouns voters. This is achieved by removing the need to vote, focusing only on retroactive funding and using the social feed for distribution. Some of the experiments we ran since the last prop to get us where we are today: - Reply to cast as a way to submit - Tagging the @roundsbot to submit - All casts filtered by eligible users’ likes as submissions (ding ding ding) - Reply to submission and stand alone casts as notifications - Dedicated channels for running rounds - Media / mint / tags only rounds - Deployed v1 & v2 of our claims contracts **Nouns rounds results:** 3k+ submissions with rewards 1k+ unique users 27 rounds executed For reference, the rounds.wtf modality was able to reward 10x more submissions and 3x more unique users in \~3 months than what we were able to achieve in prop.house in \~30 months. With this proposal, we'll be able to continue to experiment towards a viable path to scale the Nouns treasury-to-builder pipeline. We now have a suitable format. The next step is to explore ways to bring in new attention to Nouns in order to test rounds at increased funding levels. Over the coming months, our priorities will be to make sure communities are happy and explore new ways to speed up the market dynamic. Making sure communities are happy: - Ensure quality submissions are being rewarded - Build analytics to help communities clearly see the outputs - Improve the contributor experience Market dynamic: Rounds function as an attention market where submissions that garner attention receive rewards. The thesis is that eventually communities will be able to use the reward pool size to increase or decrease attention towards specific outputs. To get to there, we need to ensure that ongoing rounds have a strong feedback loop between each other to enable the market dynamic to kick in, sustain itself and grow. **Ask:** 300 ETH, 100% will be used towards funding Nouns contributors.fund-retroactive-rounds-via-rounds.wtf

i’m FOR competing versions of what fungible nouns might look like. At a reasonable cost, it makes sense to support a well intentioned effort to explore the form factor. That said, the wrapping modality where the ERC721 is used feels like a bit of a hack on top of the current contracts (compound governor / winner takes all). If (and this is a nuanced discussion to be had) we do want to pursue voting at the smallest proportions (eg 1/1m), we should consider baking into the protocol itself. This prob makes more sense to do post nouns governor deployment. Also: very pro finding ways how to make the fungible as nounish as possible. Introducing art to the form without taking away the core features that makes the erc20 standard special would be an ideal state.
+1 > for the the product checks the boxes on weirdness and quirkiness. > > brief feedback before voting opens: > > + level of detail in the prop is good > + on person looks are fun > + slick, edgy product design > > - volume (too much) > - gtm (lack of seeding approach) > > I think you're onto something. But the volumes and GTM require more focus and thought. Product doesn't sell just by launching it, but I do believe with an event focused seeding approach paired with sequential (+ iterative) pre-order mechanics, this could get some positive tractions over the course of 6-12months > > Also, I would lean more into the the design and nfc enabled opportunities in your comms than the digital twin USP. > > The initial ask should be 30-50k to cover a first production batch, event activations, some comms production, etc. and online with pre-orders to test thesis. And iterate from there. +1 > Lots to love in this prop but agree with latsko wrt GTM approach. This is a recurring problem for nouns physical products and worth spending the extra time and effort to get it just right. Recommend speaking with defijesus and salvino, and just get like 10-20 prototypes into the hands of voters to build grassroots conviction around quality and market fit.
