While still in its infancy, results so far are pomising: we now have [ex-animator from Rick and Morty](https://twitter.com/sloppypencil) and a [real life transformers engineer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPZRaXVxcqw) as nouners. - Delivered [Prop House onchain](https://x.com/nounsprophouse/status/1732820656184537418?s=20): - A [suite of smart contracts](https://prop-house.gitbook.io/prop-house/prop-house/protocol) that enable the execution of rounds to happen entirely onchain. - Meta transactions that leverage Starknet's lower execution costs to enable users to propose and vote for free using an Ethereum signature. - Onchain vote tallying and winner determination, eliminating the need for manual distribution of funds without added trust assumptions. - [Audits by Nethermind](https://github.com/NethermindEth/PublicAuditReports/blob/main/NM0096-FINAL_PROP_HOUSE.pdf). - The [Prop House SDK](https://github.com/Prop-House/prop-house-monorepo/tree/master/packages/prop-house-sdk) for developers to experiment with new user experiences on top of the core Prop House model. - A brand [new web app](https://prop.house) that redefines how end-users interact with onchain rounds. - Everything we've built, including the web app and protocol, is [open source](https://github.com/Prop-House/prop-house-monorepo). ## Roadmap ahead: Now that development of the protocol is behind us, we can can shift our resources to execute at the product and sdk level to push the boundaries of what's possible with Prop House. **Rounds as a primitive:** In contrast to proposals, rounds are open-ended. This represents less friction during creation and a multiplayer approach during execution. There is less friction because proposers do not need to know every detail of its execution but rather have a high-level idea of what they would like the round to achieve. It is multiplayer because it serves as an open invitation for new builders to participate. To enable Nouns to make full use of this new onchain primitive, we intend to implement round creation such that any nouners can create a round just as easy as they can create a prop. **Infinite round support**: The protocol currently has the capability for infinite rounds, and in the upcoming months, we will be adding support in our UI to make this round type accessible and just as user-friendly the timed rounds. **10x improvement in round creation UX:** While our new round creator is a significant improvement over our old UX, it still far too complex to attract round creators who are looking to create on-the-spot rounds (eg rounds to be used on the same day). One of the goals for the coming year is to make round creation easier; ideally making “one-click” rounds possible. **Protocol upgrades** - Support for Ethereum L2s (Base, Optimism, etc) - New proposing & voting strategies (Nouns delegation, Delegate Cash, etc) - Arbitrary execution experiments - The protocol allows winners to do more than claim an award. Rather, round creators can allow winners to execute a custom function, like minting an NFT or executing a milestone-based [Sablier stream](https://sablier.com/). We want to take some time to explore this functionality further. - Scaling the number of possible round winners from 25 to 100+ - Vote with reason **Weird little guy** ![weirld-little-guy](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/r1ha2TTIT.png) We made a substantial effort to make a fresh variation of the Nouns form. Our aim was to design something that retained its association with Prop House while embodying a distinct nouns-like quality but also ensuring it wouldn't be mistaken for actual Nouns. Thanks to the fantastic work done by [Gremplin](https://twitter.com/gremplin), [SloppyPencil](https://twitter.com/SloppyPencil) and [Danny Cole](https://twitter.com/dannycoleee), we nailed it. While fun and silly on the surface, we think this weird little guy can act as a powerful incentive. Given the majority of individuals and communities do not have a treasury they can liberally spend, we can use our to-be-named weird little guy to incentivize action. Ideally allowing non-treasury communities to run rounds without traditional money but rather with their own currencies (the weird little guy currency). It also functions as a way to export nounish culture through evoking the good emotions that are associated with earning an award: > "think this might be the first purple thing I won, and its the best as well! Better than any money" **Bringing people onchain**: Aligning under the same motif that [Zora](https://zora.co) and [Base](https://base.org) uphold, we believe Prop House can be used as a fun way to bring new people onchain. With solutions like [privy](https://privy.io) and the low cost of layer 2s, non-crypto natives can come to Prop House to propose and earn their first bit of crypto. **Structure:** What started in 2022 as a small experiment to deploy the Nouns treasury quicker has evolved into an elegant mechanism to award people onchain. After having spent over a year in the discovery and development process, we're ready to start executing at a faster pace. That means building a product that scales how Nouns and value-aligned communities award and onboard participants, while also making strides towards sustainability. We intend to turn on fees on volume of assets awarded through Prop House as a means to earn revenue so as to not depend entirely on Nouns for funding. ## Ask: We are asking for $63k per month for a total of $756k for the coming year. - 25% upfront (3 months of the total ask). - A 9 month stream beginning April 1st, 2024. The breakdown of the budget is as follows: - $45k/mo: comp for the two core team members (soli and seneca) - $15k/mo: comp for outside contributors on a need basis for frontend, design and community support. - $2k/mo: ongoing SaaS expenses for the infrastructure Prop House runs on. - $1k/mo: subsidize user costs + incentivize growth via experimental rounds. ![bubble](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SJcgkkAI6.png) based on feedback, we have reworded portions of the content make it clear that we are focusing first and foremost on nouns.

- Vote with reason **Weird little guy** ![weirld-little-guy](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/r1ha2TTIT.png) We made a substantial effort to make a fresh variation of the Nouns form. **Holding up the Nouns flag** Prop House has become a flagship Nouns product across crypto. We hope that our logo is but a small detail of how Prop House takes nounishness everywhere. Pushing Prop House to new communities and experiences further cements the builder culture that Nouns stands for and more broadly, helps shape the lens under which crypto is viewed. **Sustainability and structure:** What started as an internal tool in 2022 for Nouns to deploy its treasury evolved as a way for any onchain community to grow in 2023. Today we see Prop House as an opportunity to fill the growing need of resource allocation in the new onchain economy. To this end, we intend to run Prop House as a startup. That means executing faster, striving for real pmf and make ways towards sustainability. We intend to turn on fees on volume of assets awarded through Prop House as a means to earn revenue. <p>An open round where artists and builders are encouraged to propose any idea inspired by BasePaint. Everyone is welcome to propose. The proposals with the most votes will get awarded BasePaint Builders’ pfp. If you have any questions, please reach out to the community.</p><p><br></p>
The concept of mix and match Noun figures is innovative and we are thankful for the iterations on the initial prototype. However, we continue to find these toys aesthetically difficult and do not think they are a good mass-market first impression for Nouns. We don't agree with using them as promotions or giveaways, don't agree with any digital tie-in (POAP, NFT/PFP, AR, metaverse wearable, etc), don't agree with additional marketing or forced engagement after purchase. We hope there is an opportunity to work on future versions of the mix and match concept, but unless we think the toys are awesome, we cannot justify or endorse manufacturing 10,000 units.
# Fund Nouns Clients Development **tl;dr:** > Requesting 100 ETH to fund 4 teams 25 ETH each via a a nouner voted Prop House Round to fund Nouns Client development. ## Idea Developing multiple clients to interact with the Nouns protocol is desirable for various reasons: - Unexplored design space - Removes single point of failure - Decreases reliance on any one vendor, platform and/or technology Possible directions teams have expressed in taking development: - Bidder focused: client where the only focus is the bidder's experience. - Audience focused: client where the priority are those who are watching the auction (read: social) - Post-auction focus: build FOMO on steroids. ## Execution Teams have already [expressed interest via twitter](https://twitter.com/cryptoseneca/status/1541457754732249090). Conversation around how this evolves is ongoing in the #nouns-clients channel. The format as it stands today (07/01) is as follows: - Fund 4 teams @ 25 ETH via a Prop House Round (nouner vote) - Regroup 1 month after funding to see progress the teams have made - Either host a bigger round or ask team to directly propose to the DAO for more funding Recommended reading by nounder devcarrot: [Alternate Nouns Frontends](https://nouni.sh/devcarrot/alternate-nouns-frontends) ## Safe Funds will be managed from a 2/3 safe at `0x58a25b8C593C75F6bcEb2C805a53437DA3C53757` managed by seneca, devcarrot and cdt.
# Bring luxury Noun sunglasses to market ## Summary A couple months ago small grants funded the prototyping of a luxury sunglass initiative by salvinoarmati: https://discourse.nouns.wtf/t/small-grant-request-create-luxury-noun-sunglasses-irl/658. This proposal is to fund the initial run and launch of the physical and NFT components of this project. More details here: https://ivory-pine-ebc.notion.site/NounsDAO-Proposal-29a658f763f74f958f7c6bd916533dbb. ## Upcoming plan We’re planning to launch these as an NFT collection of limited-edition glasses. Each NFT is *consumable* in the sense that it can be used *once* to redeem a physical pair. Once the NFT is used, a boolean value is flipped to indicate consumed status and the underlying tokenURI is permanently changed. A physical pair of sunglasses is then sent to you. **~7.2% of supply reserved for NounsDAO Treasury** The total supply of the collection will be 6969 units. This project would not have been possible without the NounsDAO and the treasury. As a thank you, we’ve decided to allocate ~7.2% of the supply to the treasury (500 units). We hope to make other such contributions as a thank you to the DAO in the future. **Custom Edition Glasses Just For Noun holders** We’re also making a custom “special edition” pair *exclusively* for noun owners. The design of these glasses will be based off of the under-appreciated and rare “disco” glasses featured on some nouns. *There will only 500 of these glasses ever made, and will be available to the first 500 nouns during mint. This means, future nouns (up to #500) will also be able to receive the glasses.* ## *High-level todos that still remain* - **Create Smart Contract, Website, Minting, and Redeeming Experience.** - Have had a preliminary call with @blequity at Zora and will be using Zora’s smart contract system to launch this NFT. - Both Signora Armati and I are software engineers so will be able to build most of this —but we may hire 1 or 2 engineers to accelerate the timeline. - **Finalize a storage/distribution facility for shipping the sunglasses.** - We’ll need to organize a distribution facility which will serve a few functions: - Long-term storage of glasses (for those that are unredeemed or redeemed later) - We have items coming from multiple manufacturers (Sunglasses, Nouns Box, Carrying case, polishing cloth, thank you cards) — and will need an area to assemble and ship out all boxes. - **Promotional Video / Ad** - We want to create a fun promo (IRL) video that showcases the glasses + nouns brand. We’ve had a preliminary call with [@jasonmorena_](https://twitter.com/jasonmorena_) (who was previously the filmmaker for Gary Vee) who has expressed interest in creating an ad for us. - **Finalize glass design and create units at scale.** ### **Funds Requested** - 115Ξ for creating the smart contract, website, promotional/marketing material (this will be most of the remaining work), distribution facility, and to start manufacturing. - 1 Noun of the DAO's choice upon successful delivery of the first physical pair of glasses.
