This is in response to Sal, with whom I've been corresponding offchain on a lot of matters. Over roughly the past two weeks we've been discussing various things, most of which relate to Firstbase and the larger ecosystem it exists in. Some ideas stuck, some obviously didn't. We continued our conversation in the direction of ideas that we mutually found worth exploring. We also mutually agreed at some point to shift the conversation onchain for transparency and, hopefully, the benefit of others on the ground who might be following Firstbase.
*For context, this message is the most recent response of mine in the thread of our conversation, in response to Sal's last message to me, which reads:
"Thank you that was an interesting watch. I'm going to do some testing. My question remains though, what is the point of this? Do you have a vision for why we put an agent into the world? I mean presumably we can seed it with knowledge/memory of all the things you've posted, but what then? What is its purpose, what is the goal? Feel free to detail your thoughts onchain. I will continue looking into the nuts and bolts. Life has been messy (in a good way) these past weeks so I haven't had much time to play with this."
This is my response:
"Yes, Sal, absolutely. The major point would be the possibility of an interactive system with the 'Firstbase' entity or 'character' which is offchain, automated, and instantaneous. This, i'm anticipating and hoping, exposes the onchain world to a larger audience, and also works as the most acceptable form of "marketing", if there was ever one I had in mind. I'm not repeating here my thoughts and observations on intelligence, artificial or not, a term I consider pejorative, although one can safely assume that AI doesn't operate on the strucutures of human emotions or feelings. I haven't had the time to think of a better term for it, so let's just go with parallel intelligence for now.
Assuming the bot is on a quasi-onchain platform like Farcaster, as we had discussed before, it also purposefully makes people come onchain, with a process that is as simple as making an x account, apart from the existing userbase already there.
Now here's where it gets interesting, Farcaster allows and encourages onchain experiments on its platform. Their most important and native one being something called 'Frames.' Frames suit a host of purposes, the most useful being that you can perform onchain tasks directly via the 'Frames', but the process is as simple as liking, posting, retweeting etc on x.
With Frames intergrated with the bot, hypothetically, it allows the bot to perform innumerable functions, apart from interacting with anyone who tags it or talks to it. This includes tipping users, making transactions for them via messages, someone creating an NFT collection via the bot and then allowing users to mint it via the Frame. My limited diving has shown this so of course a lot more can be done, by anyone who wants to implement something on top of it. These are blanket examples. (I am intentionally avoiding the mention or discussion of the proliferation of bots that are, by design, capable of deploying tokens).
This is where my idea of incentivization or 'utility' comes in, because the bot can reserve a portion of Firstbase for developers who want to build things on top of it, which goes beyond the mere tipping part. This is possible, again only on Farcaster, because it is chiefly for onchain participants, and it is swarmed by developers constantly building exciting stuff, and that too it is Base native, primarily.
Without commenting or being opinionated I'm sure you're aware of how a mere offer of "free" Firstbase onchain recently by someone led to a flurry of messages and activity. That interaction was trivia or trivial, but when this is done in terms of building and actual incentivization, I feel it could open up Firstbase to newer avenues and explorations. And via the bot this can be automated, meaning, it doesn't need constant human monitoring, except routine checks, as and when needed, among other minor things, assuming a flywheel kicks in, and it grows more and more autonomous.
This is all conjecture, of course, on the basis of ideas of experimentation, building, research, markets, and new vistas. Experimentation being the key operative word here.
My thoughts or ideas may as well be mostly fallible and prone to failure, but the thoughts that go into them are extremely and excruciatingly meticulous.
I'll end with where I began - the foundational character of the bot, which is also very important. Apart from it having the data set of existing onchain history, how I see it is a character which will be fed by my own personal sources of references and lodestars in life, as I have tried with glimpses of onchain - this includes political views, geopolitical or not, and whether we love to say we hate politics, we are subjects of it and embedded in it, unless you're from North Sentinel island, but even they aren't immune to larger oppressions of geopolitics. Then comes culture and how we exist in it - its history, its movements, through art, my primary obsession, and et al. Again these are blanket examples. For example, the bot would be well at ease discussing aleatoric music to Feynman to the Tractacus to scatology to existence to the environmental benefits of edible underwear etc etc.
These are preliminary thoughts, but substantianted in my head, I say preliminary for the sake of leaving room for infinte expansion until actual execution takes place.
