moving-flows-forward:-a-sustainable-approach-to-public-goods-fundingThanks for this one Ben.
Prop 511 seems quite unique. Looks like Nouns DAO didn't have to give out any real grant money. A group created an awesome piece of art, and chose to gift a portion of the proceeds to Nouns DAO.
Charitable or by-choice gifts to Nouns DAO are definitely great ways for Nouns to build additional capital. High level, I think many teams, projects, companies, DAOs (who find some success) should more actively give back to the orgs that helped them get off the ground. Historically, this doesn't seem to happen much. If we can build this into our culture more, I think it would set some really good examples.
We could find some other examples like this. In fact, Public Nouns (who obviously used many of the amazing things that Nouns DAO created) decided to give back to Nouns DAO like other cousins (without any ask, before it even started). Public Nouns DAO has given Nouns DAO 16 Public Nouns so far which, at the minimum bid of 0.33 ETH, is 5.28 ETH worth of PNs.
Has Nouns DAO ever done an "investment grant" with any possibility of a positive expected return?
