Memo 0x5d8e94e6…bf2825 on Ethereum

moving-flows-forward:-a-sustainable-approach-to-public-goods-fundingThanks stripymofo.   oooouuuuu, so Nouns DAO giving $400k to fund a really cool 1 minute movie, with an aim to get back some ETH via a share of the NFT sales. Can't find exact numbers, but looks like 20,165 sales at 0.004844 ETH each during its minting period from March 11-31, so 97.679 ETH total with 80% towards PG and 20% towards Nouns, so presumably 19.535 ETH back to Nouns.  (Excuse me if my numbers are wrong.)   So another example of give out ~260 ETH and get back 19.535 ETH.  Again, not a POSITIVE return and never an expectation of a positive return.   Any positive expected return ideas in the life of Nouns DAO anyone can think of? +1 > @0xE048...8846 > > https://www.nouns.camp/proposals/407 > > > Thanks for this one Ben. > > > > Prop 511 seems quite unique. Looks like Nouns DAO didn't have to give out any real grant money. A group created an awesome piece of art, and chose to gift a portion of the proceeds to Nouns DAO. > > > > Charitable or by-choice gifts to Nouns DAO are definitely great ways for Nouns to build additional capital. High level, I think many teams, projects, companies, DAOs (who find some success) should more actively give back to the orgs that helped them get off the ground. Historically, this doesn't seem to happen much. If we can build this into our culture more, I think it would set some really good examples. > > > > We could find some other examples like this. In fact, Public Nouns (who obviously used many of the amazing things that Nouns DAO created) decided to give back to Nouns DAO like other cousins (without any ask, before it even started). Public Nouns DAO has given Nouns DAO 16 Public Nouns so far which, at the minimum bid of 0.33 ETH, is 5.28 ETH worth of PNs. > > > > Has Nouns DAO ever done an "investment grant" with any possibility of a positive expected return? > > > > +1 > > > > > @0xE048...8846 > > > > > > https://www.nouns.camp/proposals/511 > > > > > > > Has Nouns DAO ever done an investment with a return expected? If so, what was it and how did it go?
