# Maré Gnars Breakers

I am Irven Oliveira, Born in the Complexo da Maré favela in Rio de Janeiro, began dancing in the street with his childhood friends inspired by a DVD of the legendary RedBull BC ONE 2005, Since then never stopped playing soccer for so unknown BREAKING, one day dancing with his friends in the street where they lived, some guys passed and saw that scene and stopped to observe, and automatically approached and minutes later were dancing along with Irven and his friends, who danced there and represented the purest BREAKING, the same way it was born in the african-american and latin communities in the United States in the 70s.

I have created the Maré Breakers project, which emerged after observing the interest of young people and children in the community for the activity, where the classes happen without structure, in the open sky and the objective of this proposal is with the support of the GnarsDao obtain a structure to teach the modality and ally with knowledge about Crypto introducing the young people who live in the favela to the world of the web3.
# **Overview**
We can give possibilities to Children and Youngsters who live in imminent social risk in the communities of Nova Holanda and Parque União, in the surroundings of Complexo da Maré, in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, with involvement in the Art and development of all the processes of Introduction to Breaking Dance and the WEB-3 World using the Reproduction of KNOWLEDGE as the main instrument of learning and reflection about the history, its different segments and its applications within the world we live in.
BREAKING, regardless of gender, is a real form of socio-cultural inclusion of young people, fundamental for the awakening of children, and for them to become multipliers of the learnings of the process.
Identifying potential talents in the actions developed by the Breakers of Maré, and awakening them to opportunities for transformation, makes these children and young people see the Maré Breakers of Maré as a real welcoming reference, a laboratory for the creation of future athletes, Olympic medalists, holders, teachers, and producers of culture.
The belonging and identity of the territory are the basis of the project, working the whole methodology designed for immersion within the Classes - this direct contact with the productive processes - Understanding and working this step by step is fundamental to the success of the activity.
# **Target**
To train about 20 young people and children and turn them into future professionals . The project's extension intends to create a solid bond in the relationship between instructor and student, to the point of having enough time to identify and work in the best way possible and in an individual way with all those who participate in the project.
In this scenario, the work methodology fits into the reality of each one, directing them to their specificities throughout time.
The project will last 3 months, divided into 1 modules of 1 months each, with direct impact on the transformation of each participant.

### **Methodology and educational plan**
The established lesson plans will divide the 20 participants into two classes of 10 students each, separating them by age group, since our target audience is youth and children between the ages of 7 and 18. The first group will be made up of students between the ages of 7 and 13; the second group will comprise young people between the ages of 14 and 18. Classes will take place twice a week for two hours. The workshop will be divided into 3 distinct modules;
### **1st Module: Immersion, What is Break**
* Introduction to Dance :
* history, concepts, propulsors;
* Introduction to Basic Steps: names, practices;
* What are TOP-ROCK- DROPS- FOOTWORK- FREEZE- POWER MOVIES
* Lecture with other renowned B BOYS
### **2nd Module: Becoming a Bboy**
* Variations of TOP-ROCK - DROPS - FOOTWORK - /guide;
* FREEZE variations - POWER MOVES
* How to Breathe while dancing in a competition
* Battle Tips ( BOOK THE ART OF BATTLE )
* BÔNUS (Maré style footwork, one of the fundamentals of breaking dance developed at Maré complex) where the B BOY, makes footwork using geometric shapes, during his dance and makes it more fluid and creates endless possibilities for movement

### **3rd Module: Introduction to WEB-3**
The content taught will be supported by Ramon, Noun Builder in several projects, including
* What is WEB-3;
* What cryptocurrencies are;
* What is a blockchain;
* What is NFT;
* How to create a Crypto Wallet;
* Basic knowledge of DAO;
* Introduction to the Gnars ecosystem;
# Place
The workshops will be held in the COMPLEXO DA MARÉ community, in Marémusicrec. A structured physical space, which, with the approval of this project, will be revitalized for carrying out all Activities.
**For classes to start we need to repair the floor, fill some holes, redo the grouts, seal the floor, buy new rugs the size of the slab, tatamis, and make new graffiti on the walls, with the name of the project and the gnars logo**

# Budget
Our idea is also to continue with training and classes after the 3 sponsored months, keeping the space open for the training of students and bboys and bgirls from the Mare Complex and Rio de Janeiro, for this reason we requested this repair in the place where everything will happen, it will be an open place with access for everyone
# Impact
As time went by, Breaking on the Tide decreased and many BBOYS had to change their training time to work and thus Breaking on the Tide has been struggling in the underground to survive. Today there are 6 BBOYS who still train in the entire Complexo da Maré area that inhabits over 150.000. Irven has managed to compete and travel to represent Maré-RJ in championships in Sao Paulo and Minas Gerais. Today he works as a teacher of breaking in a volunteer and Cultural Producer where he lives, held some events such as MARÉ HIP HOP - Roda Cultural do Parque União - continuing the Roda Cultural that still exists once a month where there is a battle of MCS, and CYPHER BREAKING
The budget will cover the costs with instructors, space allocation, purchase of sound equipment, flat dance mats, and tatami sheets for the safety of the students;
