# Base Jump 4 of 4 (proposals 2-3 not required) ![](https://ipfs.decentralized-content.com/ipfs/bafybeia6q6n5247ilusjhnjxyarliorjdc7yeavtqyyb6xqmx64nsdaeaa) This proposal is step 4 of 4 in migrating Gnars DAO operations to Base L2, allowing us to reduce our gas costs by 99% and proceed with our mission of bringing a million shredders onchain. Base Jump 2 and 3 as mentioned in [Base Jump 1](https://www.gnars.wtf/dao/proposals/37) are no longer required. Full details and a recount of what led to this outcome are explained later in this proposal. The attached transactions send all ETH and USDC from the treasury to `gami.eth` for bridging to Base and I hereby give my guarantee it will be done without fault – if anything *is* to go wrong, I will personally cover any losses. There's an additional transaction that sets `gami.eth` as owner of the mainnet Gnars NFT contract, so that OpenSea descriptions may be updated, followed by setting contract owner back to the treasury. ## How we got here Following the Base Jump 1 proposal, the transaction to pause auctions on mainnet was executed. We then proceeded to prepare Base Jump 2 which would call L2 Migration Deployer, deploy a DAO with given parameters on Base (including an Alternate Metadata Renderer), and set Merkle Reserve Minter to allow L1 holders to claim. Unfortunately, navigating these steps was more difficult than expected due to a lack of documentation. We also witnessed high gas prices on mainnet for a sustained period, making the complex series of operations prohibitively expensive. After discussion with the Builder team, and internally with the tech pod, we decided it best to opt for a trusted Base deployment. ### Steps taken for Base deployment 1. New contracts will be written, and later a proposal submitted, to swap out the offchain art with fully onchain art. 2. **Your new Gnars on Base have the same IDs** as your originals on mainnet, but the trait combinations are different, and you can consider them additional Gnars, as opposed just being L2 copies. You maintain ownership of all your original Gnars on mainnet and they continue to function as both collectibles and voting tokens, as the mainnet DAO will continue to exist indefinitely. 3. **Gnars 0-626 never existed on mainnet** as they were the IDs of the Gnars OG collection, which were never integrated with governance, and instead used to claim 2-for-1 Gnars V2. Now on Base, they've been minted and airdropped to the treasury, to raise additional revenues by selling them through various experiments and promotional efforts. There's even potential for the low IDs to fetch a premium and provide further value to the DAO. ## Where we're headed You've likely already experienced the magic of Base and other Ethereum L2s, and now that the Dencun Upgrade is complete, you're enjoying sub-cent transactions and lightning speed. There's so much to look forward to now we've made the jump, and while there are some works in progress and upgrades that need completing, rest assured that this is just the beginning. quick update: turns out we don't need base jump 2 of 4 proposal. we can instead do deployment separately and then still do base jump proposals 3 and 4. they will be the treasury test and final transfer. these votes will serve as final consensus for our migration to base

The attached transaction pauses our auctions to ensure that no new Gnars are created on mainnet. Then we can deploy our new DAO cross-chain and airdrop all token holders their same ID numbers with the same trait configurations. An ETH ask to cover migration gas costs has been omitted as external funding has been secured. Huge thanks to [Builder DAO](https://nouns.build/dao/ethereum/0xdf9b7d26c8fc806b1ae6273684556761ff02d422/424) whose tooling allows us to deliver a smooth transition with minimal technical overhead. ## Base Jump Proposals This proposal is the first in a series of 4 required on mainnet for our Base L2 migration and can only be executed following a successful vote. *Here's a summary of the **4 proposals** in order:* 1. **Base Jump 1 of 4 (pause auctions)** to pause the auctions on mainnet and ensure our token supply remains static during migration 2. **Base Jump 2 of 4 (deploy on base)** to call [L2 Migration Deployer](https://hackmd.io/peXISQ2CSQOwRGmvpUpK9A#L2-Migration-Deployer), deploy a DAO with given parameters on Base (including an [Alternate Metadata Renderer](https://hackmd.io/peXISQ2CSQOwRGmvpUpK9A#Custom-Metadata-Renderers)), and set [Merkle Reserve Minter](https://hackmd.io/peXISQ2CSQOwRGmvpUpK9A#Merkle-Reserve-Minter) to allow L1 holders to claim 3. **Base Jump 3 of 4 (transfer treasury test)** to call L2 Migration Deployer and use `depositToTreasury` to transfer test amount (ETH and USDC) from L1 treasury to newly deployed L2 treasury 4. **Base Jump 4 of 4 (transfer treasury final)** to call L2 Migration Deployer and use `depositToTreasury` to transfer remaining ETH and USDC from L1 treasury to newly deployed L2 treasury We are aware that these proposals incur substantial gas costs to voters. To ensure everyone can have their say, all gas spent on voting in this series of 4 proposals will be refunded. Refunds will be processed with a proposal immediately after Gnars is operational on Base L2. ## Builder Collaboration We are very fortunate to be working closely with Builder DAO on migration and will be actively contributing to the Builder Protocol and shared [nouns.build](https://nouns.build/dao/ethereum/0xdf9b7d26c8fc806b1ae6273684556761ff02d422/vote/90) frontend. Due to the timeframes required for proposal voting and executions, our migration will effectively commence 26 February 2024 and be completed on or before 8 March 2024. # Bring That's Gnarly onchain Hey Gnars-folk, rocketman here. These communities will be hosted on That's Gnarly, and come with splits contracts to earn treasury revenue, an onchain DAO, and an onchain feed for shredders to earn and engage on. The communities will be built with [revolution](https://github.com/collectivexyz/revolution-protocol), a new protocol we have been developing for over a year that makes it easier to earn a vote in the DAO for your efforts. ### **Daily drops contract** We previously ran Daily Drops in a manner that required manual intervention from a trusted party (rocketman, Davin, and xargs). We saw tons of shredders onboarded and over **10 ETH** earned for the treasury through the daily drops mechanic. We'd like to bring this mechanic onchain, and make it permissionless, just like the Gnars daily auctions. * Gnars holders and That's Gnarly collectors will be able to vote for the top pieces of content uploaded to That's Gnarly, fully onchain on Base L2 * Create a wrapper on top of Zora ERC1155 contracts, owned by Gnars DAO, to drop the top content to a new That's Gnarly NFT collection, every day, forever. 1. **Audit Funding for onchain contracts** * Set up an audit with 0x52 for the drop contract * Implement any recommended changes or fixes based on the audit findings. 1. **Other plans** * Bring all past and future creations fully onchain to ensure maximum composability and to enable developers to build on TG * Integrate Zora free mints to enable anyone to easily mint the content they upload * Continue improving the [DAO](https://thatsgnar.ly/thatsgnarly/dao) page and overall site UX # Funds Request ### That's Gnarly Dev ($20k USDC) Our team consists of two developers now, rocketman and @wkocjan. We were previously funded by VCs, but have no money left from them. We kindly ask for your support in funding That's Gnarly so we can keep building for the community. We propose a budget allocation of $20k. This will help to extend runway on That's Gnarly for at least another 2 months ($5k/month/developer) and allow us to deliver the planned features and upgrades to the site. We are actively looking for other funding routes in the meantime, and envision this to be our only funding ask of Gnars DAO for the foreseeable future. ### Revolution Contract Audit ($12k USDC) We are working on a new protocol codenamed [Revolution](https://github.com/collectivexyz/revolution-protocol). Today I am a member of That's Gnarly with some Drops, producing content to expand the community on the decentralized platform, supporting Gnars at SurfHive, as well as buying NFTs projects from Thats Gnarly, Surfguru DAO, Nouns and Gnars. * I already understand better the system of the community itself and I think could be a good time for a Sponsorship prop, before the turn of the year, because next year I would like to be executing these projects in favor of gnars and not taking the courage to upload any props. * My Journey at Gnars was very organic. This area is Rebio (biological reserve) de Comboios, a surf spot, rich in culture and biodiversity in Brazil, which suffered the biggest environmental crime in the history of Brazil, with the dumping of 40 million m3 of toxic mud in the Rio Doce flowing into the mouth of the river, right next to this fire region. I think Picolino is a super cool guy and my vote is no because I would like to see him approve a fair proposal for him. I don't like the model of Bob (the institute) earning so much money from the proposal (it's not even remotely clear why the money goes to the institute, I don't believe it's necessary) and the boy, who will actually execute the proposal, gets almost nothing. I don't believe in this model of proposal. I don't think it's sustainable for this institute to want to participate (receiving money) in so many Brazilian proposals, this needs to be discussed honestly and clearly. Wasn't DAO supposed to transgress? How can just one person decide the fate of the entire treasure? How is this different from a regular company? # Maré Gnars Breakers *submitted by Bob Burnquist on behalf of Irven* I am Irven Oliveira, Born in the Complexo da Maré favela in Rio de Janeiro, began dancing in the street with his childhood friends inspired by a DVD of the legendary RedBull BC ONE 2005, Since then never stopped playing soccer for so unknown BREAKING, one day dancing with his friends in the street where they lived, some guys passed and saw that scene and stopped to observe, and automatically approached and minutes later were dancing along with Irven and his friends, who danced there and represented the purest BREAKING, the same way it was born in the african-american and latin communities in the United States in the 70s. ### tldr I have created the Maré Breakers project, which emerged after observing the interest of young people and children in the community for the activity, where the classes happen without structure, in the open sky and the objective of this proposal is with the support of the GnarsDao obtain a structure to teach the modality and ally with knowledge about Crypto introducing the young people who live in the favela to the world of the web3. ![](https\://revolution.mypinata.cloud/ipfs/QmQsMyYXwJEdR3cp5N8L4ijKrGyesVHthop3cbmJoJpUJK) # **Overview** We can give possibilities to Children and Youngsters who live in imminent social risk in the communities of Nova Holanda and Parque União, in the surroundings of Complexo da Maré, in the Municipality of Rio de Janeiro, with involvement in the Art and development of all the processes of Introduction to Breaking Dance and the WEB-3 World using the Reproduction of KNOWLEDGE as the main instrument of learning and reflection about the history, its different segments and its applications within the world we live in.  BREAKING, regardless of gender, is a real form of socio-cultural inclusion of young people, fundamental for the awakening of children, and for them to become multipliers of the learnings of the process. In this scenario, the work methodology fits into the reality of each one, directing them to their specificities throughout time. The first group will be made up of students between the ages of 7 and 13; the second group will comprise young people between the ages of 14 and 18. Classes will take place twice a week for two hours.
