# Good Noggles is a Precious Noggles take on Nouns Vision
# TLDR
[Precious Noggles](https://www.preciousplastic.com/noggles), in partnership with various organizations and inspired by [Nouns Vision](https://www.updates.wtf/prop/104) proposals [#12](https://nouns.wtf/vote/12) and [#104](https://nouns.wtf/vote/104), presents an innovative project with social and environmental impact. The project involves creating a mobile ophthalmological clinic equipped with a Precious Plastic recycling station, designed to produce and donate eyeglasses made from recycled plastic to 3,000 vulnerable children in Rio de Janeiro. The initiative promotes education, recycling, and sustainability, focusing on direct impact, broad media exposure, and mini-documentaries detailing the progress of the actions. In the long term, the project aims to assist 15,000 children per year and globally replicate the initiative, expanding the visibility and values of the Nouns brand.

## What is it?
[Precious Noggles](https://www.preciousplastic.com/noggles), created from a [proposal approved by Nouns DCS](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ILFm8-OjhbkcvmbVbh7Zitq94T__jBch4J4zz1iXjs0/edit?usp=sharing), aims to connect the Nouns community with [Precious Plastic](https://www.instagram.com/realpreciousplastic/) community, **both CC0 brands** focused on innovation and sustainability. After the success of the first initiative, [Precious Noggles](https://warpcast.com/preciousnoggles) is launching a more ambitious project: a mobile clinic equipped with a recycling station capable of producing eyeglass frames made from recycled plastic. The long-term goal of this project is to assist 15,000 vulnerable children in Rio de Janeiro. According to the Brazilian Council of Ophthalmology (CBO), about 10% of elementary school students need glasses, but 80% of school-age children have never had an eye exam. In addition, the initiative will promote education about recycling and sustainability, creating a positive impact on socially vulnerable communities.
I, [Marinioac](https://x.com/marinioac), founder of [Precious Noggles](http://x.com/preciousnoggles), along with [Ilustradora](https://x.com/ilustradoraeth), the [NGO Visão do Bem](https://www.instagram.com/socialvisaodobem), [Casa Plástica](https://www.instagram.com/projetocasaplastica/), [Precious Plastic Cotia](https://www.instagram.com/preciousplastic.cotiabr/), [Easymoulds](https://www.instagram.com/easymoulds/), [Virei Notícia](https://www.instagram.com/vireinoticia/), and [Berro.inc](http://berro.inc/), are committed to carrying out a creative and high-impact project, fully aligned with the values of the Nouns community. Our focus is on promoting education, recycling, inclusion, accessibility, and health, while also aiming for a global reach. The proposal seeks to collaborate with open recycling projects, enabling the Precious Plastic community to replicate these initiatives worldwide, thereby amplifying the impact of Nouns.
### Short-term Deliverables:

### Choice of Materials for the Glasses
This project uses recycled polypropylene (PP), commonly found in yogurt pots, bottle caps, and food trays. PP is lightweight, impact-resistant, and flexible, making it ideal for durable and comfortable frames. The use of recycled PP supports the circular economy, reducing plastic waste. Additionally, recycling allows for frames to be produced on demand, minimizing excess waste while letting children choose their preferred colors for personalization. This creates a more sustainable and inclusive process, ensuring each pair of glasses is unique and tailored to the child’s preferences.
The lenses will be supplied by EssilorLuxottica, a world leader in optical innovation, known for high-quality lenses and cutting-edge technology.
The glasses’ packaging will be made from recycled fabric, featuring personalized Noggles-branded cloths to encourage proper eyewear care and creativity. The OBE spring hinges ensure comfort and durability, extending the longevity of the frames.

### Mobile Clinic and Recycling Station
The mobile clinic, in addition to offering ophthalmological exams, will function as a sustainable production center, equipped with modular recycling machines to produce eyeglass frames on-site. This station will also host interactive recycling workshops with the children, creating an engaging and educational experience. In the short term, we aim to serve 3,000 children and distribute 1,000 pairs of glasses across 10 NGOs in Rio de Janeiro.

### Workshops
In the Casa Plástica workshop for Noggles do Bem: “PLASTIC: From Waste to Glasses,” selected communities will have the chance to participate in a fun, interactive 3-hour experience learning how discarded plastic from their own homes can be transformed into new products—including a pair of glasses!
The workshop begins with an introduction to the environmental impact of plastic waste and the importance of recycling. Following this, we will engage in a dynamic activity to identify different types of plastics commonly found in the market, especially those most used and frequently discarded. Next, children will observe firsthand how plastic is shredded and creatively repurposed. This hands-on activity aims to raise awareness in a playful and dynamic way, encouraging creativity and demonstrating how small changes, starting at home, can contribute to a much more sustainable future.
