JP is saying that completely centralizing the DAO kills the decentralized spirit and diverse voices that make it so special. The treasury spend is entirely independent of that.
You can push towards sustainability without:
- Instituting a singular vision all props must follow
- Controlling the majority of votes and voting all together
- Voting down popular props at the last minute
- Establishing a centralized leadership team
- Focus solely on turning Nouns into a governance hub
- Passing unpopular props unilaterally (795)
I believe in a world where we can maintain decentralization and work towards sustainability without giving total control to a small committee, no matter how well intentioned. I don't think the governance innovation you're hoping for is going to come out of a centralized treasury. Nouns is not a DAO under the absolute rule of 2-3 people, it's just an awkwardly structured VC fund.
