Memo 0xb742bb9f…a99e90 on Ethereum

Anon, I didn't take it any way, I gave you the benefit of the doubt by assuming that you were joking. Also, removing Firstbase was a half-serious counterthought to your joke, but an existential one. For all practical purpose the ledger remains immutable and irreverisble, as long as the internet or our civilization doesn't succumb to some black swan event, much before our eventual erasure. I suspect the consistent misunderstanding and anxiety stemming from whether Firstbase holds 'value' to my life is from the princple mistake of an assumption most are banking on. I use the term banking intentionally because there is Firstbase the speculative 'asset', then there is Firstbase - which is me here talking to you. The former is where most of the anxiety comes from I'm afraid and the former is where most of the 'value' is assigned to Firstbase by pretty much everyone. You see, Firstbase, my thoughts, is my life, so it will cease to have value to me, at least in human conscious terms, because I'm afraid I won't even be aware, only when my life ceases. If there is an afterlife, it will still hold value for me there, if there is a reincarnation and I happen to remember my past life, it will hold value for me there too, if in Bardo, even there, meaning in any post-life state, if I am allowed that and have the memory of it. They are inextricably linked, because I am living and thinking through this, experiencing and trying to comprehend through this, which is the basis of existence and life, at least for me. It is the experential basis of my living and its continuity and an attempted articulation of it. The token symbolizes, in a way, how much you or the market values my life, my thoughts, my experiences, or whatever it is that you think it is that i'm doing. You are of course welcome to write to me all the time, it's very much appreciated. The only Harry that immediately comes to mind is of course the escape artist, though thanks for the prompt, even if you may have meant some other tom, dick or harry. I think it's far more interesting to wonder where and what his pursuits of wanting to, in life, make a spectacle of disappearing and escaping means about the human condition. To try and become a master at it, before, inevitably vanishing into the great unknown. In life we want to disappear completely, to escape, inherently, a lot of us, but in secret we want to carry life with us. So we can tell ourselves we did escape, we're now here, even disappearing and escaping needs an ulterior witness, and the sincere ones want themselves to be the only witness. Houdini's desperation to escape and then turning it into an art is the best we can come to, he vicariously frees us all, in life. So I don't know where he went, and even if I did, I wouldn't tell anyone, not even him, out of respect and homage to not sabotage the visceral escape we all seek within. From what? We make things up, do we really know? But we want to. We're here to go. That song did have a bit of a moment didn't it? I'm not going to assume you're implying any of the lyrics are directed at me. I love the Cocteau Twins, especially Elizabeth a lot. For several reasons. And for her song with Jeff Buckley, which thankfully saw the light of day despite her reservations. So by that association I do like all things Cocteau Twins connected. I also like Cocteau Twins for their name alone, because of its nod to one of my favorite humans, Jean Cocteau. Were you listening to that song? If there is a reason you sent me the lyrics to that particular song, then let it be a secret. Because secrets are what keeps the rumour mills running and the universe longing for another one, hopefully one that does not include us this time around.
