I appreciate you taking the time to think deeply about the future of Nouns and lay out your vision. I agree that we should use Nouns as a vehicle to figure out how to make DAOs work, so we can accelerate global coordination and improve how people organize to make change in the world.
Practically, I believe you are going about it backwards.
You are trying to run Nouns like a company. Leadership teams, seasonal budgets, unilaterally controlling the vote, not engaging the community on socials or calls. None of this behavior is conducive to the vision you outlined.
After you complete your take over and implement a process filled hierarchy, I highly doubt whatever is left of Nouns will be able to execute on your vision. Centralizing power to fix governance will kill the experimental culture that makes governance innovation possible.
The people that live and breathe Nouns are your best shot at figuring out how to make DAOs the winning coordination primitive on the planet. They will not stick around if you implement process and hierarchy in a DAO they no longer have a voice in.
You are trying to make DAOs work. Why turn Nouns into the opposite of one?
I truly believe DAOs will catch fire when capital and culture come together in a beautiful dance. Right now, your insistence on control, process, and hierarchy risks killing what makes Nouns special- the culture, grassroots community, and weirdness of it all. You could very well implement governance summits, research pieces, and more (which I find exciting) within the current structure of the DAO. You do not need to control everything to make that happen. These paths are not mutually exclusive.
If we’re going to invoke the Federalist Papers, let’s be historically honest: Hamilton, Madison, and Jay didn’t grab all the votes and declare ownership—they published in the open, debated Anti-Federalists line-by-line, and enshrined checks precisely so no single faction (including their own) could dominate.
The community does not want you to shoulder all the responsibility. We want to help. All we ask is that you respect the values we built up over the last four years, and work with us, instead of trying to control us. Don't kill everyone's voice in favor of your own.
The success of Nouns ultimately rests on decentralized participation, open-ended experimentation, and genuine diversity of thought.
Nouns is more than the money and governance. Lean into the culture, plurality, and madness of it all. Nouns isn't some treasury to control. It's a society that requires the right balance of freedom and structure to succeed. Let us find that balance together ⌐◨-◨
