bhare I’ve always seen cooking as an act of love, no matter the type. You entrust someone else with the wellbeing on your body as you enjoy the meal that they prepared. My ideal meal is warm and hearty, served on a porcelain dish. This work is the continuation of a journal written back during my years in high school. Inflated with current experiences relative to my early 20’s, “Dinner served cold, again” is a meal on ice. One devoid of love, shaking your teeth down to the root. Our central character is seemingly unaware of the current state of things. She has two faces despites looking unaware in one of them. The second serves to indicate an inner monologue that is aware of the current situation. Warm tones are utilized on the top half as “warm air rises” leaving the bottom half for cool tones. The table itself alongside the man’s head has turned cold, as if the empty plate energy starts to overcome everything around it.
