Inspired by the shifting, abstract patterns of Asari clam shells, A Thousand Layers of Stomach reflects on the mathematical structures that shape the natural world and how life, against the pull of entropy, creates moments of order, intricate geometric forms, and complex structures from chaos. It explores how natural processes and computational logic intertwine to generate endless variation and unexpected beauty. ASARI is a limited edition of 10 one-of-a-kind generative artworks released with TRAME on Art Blocks as the first edition within the A Thousand Layers of Stomach (ATLOS) project. Each work draws from the internal growth logic of the Asari clam shell, a living record of time, mineral flow and evolutionary chance. Every digital artwork is paired with a knitted textile made on our custom machine and hand finished, bringing its pattern into the physical world. Together they form a single organism of code and craft, entropy and order, captured in a unique expression that will never exist again. The project is a collaboration between A.A.Murakami, known for their poetic “Ephemeral Tech” installations that merge art and nature, and TRAME, a design studio that brings generative code into dialogue with traditional craftsmanship. Together, they explore how technology and craft can merge into new forms of expression. Originally debuting in 2024 at Art Blocks Weekend in Marfa, Texas, A Thousand Layers of Stomach continues to grow with each exhibition, weaving together threads of biology, code, and community.

A vibrant topographic meditation on Morocco, Patches translates memory into form, mapping the landscapes, traditions, and cultural imprints that shaped the artist’s experience of his travel. Earthy browns evoke the boundless Sahara, while deep blues trace the embrace of the Mediterranean and Atlantic. Lush greens recall the forests of Azrou and the ritual of mint tea, a daily rhythm of warmth and hospitality. The soft pinks and bold reds celebrate Morocco’s rich history of artisanal craft and its enduring cultural influence. Each color, a fragment of place and time, comes together as a tactile homage to Morocco’s layered identity.

Artist Linda Dounia contemplates memory, loss, and change in her poetic collection, A Staircase Home. Her artwork is designed through an algorithm built around her memory of the staircase that led up to her beloved childhood home in the small Senegalese city of Mbour, a home that was removed to make way for a growing city. The staircase motif climbs back and forth in each of 12 digital artworks—tufted carpets in their physical forms—at varying heights and angles in a mix of earthy and vibrant tones. Conceived on an exploratory trip to Morocco where the physical medium for her collection was chosen, the works also take inspiration from Moroccan artisanal traditions. The abstract shapes that rise and fall in a zigzag pattern from edge to edge, create a dynamic symbol of connection between past and present and technology and craft.

“Hand and machine write the same pattern, one in wool, one in memory, both looping toward the next increment.” Bringing her digital art into a physical medium for the first time, Ix Shell’s collection of tapestries explores the parallels that exist between hand-crafted patterns and computer code. “Tiles, textiles, doors, even the shadows in narrow alleys formed deliberate designs that echoed the modular logic of code.” Using her photo documentation from an exploratory trip through Morocco where she was inspired by the deft handwork of master artisans, Ix Shells extracted not only geometry and shapes, but also the idea that there is an exceptional power in the muscle memory of the human mind. Using her programming to mirror, rotate, and manipulate nodes of data, she delivers tapestries that showcase the human ingenuity of craft delivered through code.
