nouns need fewer "I'm gonna proliferate the meme bro" props +1 > Let’s leave ‘let them cook’ props in 2025 and usher in a new year where proposals have set deliverables that proposers are expected to execute, not just make good faith efforts
+1 > We've got so many talented artists in our community, and it often feels like the only thing that comes out of it is just more trait proposals. Can our artists team up on something bigger than just individual traits? > > We need proposals that reach out to new communities and get more folks interested in what we're doing. Let's put our heads together and cook up something way more exciting for Nouns holders to actually govern. Honestly, voting on whether another trait should be added is pretty boring, and I definitely don't think it's worth the compensation these proposals are asking for.
The thing about everyone calling for these folks to reach out the NGOs is that at this scale (10K) it's not really something you can you if you want to keep your agency. Maybe you can hope some giant humanitarian group swoops in to help, but you're at the whim of that group. I don't think it's very pragmatic advice
my bull case for nouns is funding more software. BasePaint is one of the most interesting consumer crypto applications out there. By highlighting BasePaint, maybe we can encourage more experimentation in consumer crypto that isn't just launching the nth token launchpad. cheers
the irony is that spending 40K to buy pizzas _is_ extraction +1 > > If Nouns DAO is to wither away until only sycophants and extractors remain, so be it. > > Insulting the DAO members is not a great way of gathering support. > > +1 > > > Together, we’ve built a magnificent, amazing global event that is wholesome and beautiful. Jane has used the word “respect” more freely in her writing than is appropriate for someone who has shown little. Viewing PizzaDAO's work through such a simplistic lens shows little care for the builders involved or the values that brought us together in the first place. > > > > When Nouns DAO launched in 2021 (months after PizzaDAO), I felt like it was the meta version of what we were building. As a copyleft maxi from a young age (I’ve been selling copyleft t-shirts since 2013, when you could first accept Bitcoin on Shopify), I thought I’d found my people. I’ve always believed in the basic goodness of humans and their desire to improve themselves and their environment. If we shared more, we could build faster, better, stronger. > > > > The only noun I ever considered for PizzaDAO was 292, with its WE shirt (Did you know that WE stands for Whole Earth?) and its pizza head. I worked to convince wilsoncusack.eth that I and PizzaDAO would be proper stewards of such a fine NFT (he was quite attached). He finally agreed to 40 ETH. On April 20, 2023, I paid 42 (for the memes). > > > > So why are we putting this prop up, despite our very negative feelings towards our fearless captors? Because it feels wrong to let the opinions of a few get in the way of the deep fellowship between the Nouns DAO and PizzaDAO communities. Web3 is a community first revolution. Real value (and real power) resides in the community, not the treasury. > > > > If Nouns DAO is to wither away until only sycophants and extractors remain, so be it. But PizzaDAO will not be to blame. If destroying the sandcastles we’ve built in order to save the sandbox is the chosen path, we’ll simply find another sandbox. The metaverse is vast.
+1 > I'm in favor of more experimentation around funding methods. Crypto is all about innovation. nouns-dao-x-pizzadao:-global-pizza-party-2025-(final-attempt)@0x2767...3938 It's not an iteration based on community feedback if you are just asking for less and less money each time until the prop finally passes. Thanks for the proposal and the teaser video, I liked it. Here's a summary I've had with a few other folks: As others have mentioned, I don't think it's feasible that this prop onboard 200+ active members. We maybe have 100 active members as it stands, and that's fine. The best thing we could do is attract funding. We should shift our goals away from "how do we onboard as many new members as possible" to "how can we ensure our treasury has enough consistent funding so we can continue to fund cool ideas". Perhaps one path towards this goal is if nouns is okay with funding art for arts sake. In this case it doesn't really matter if your play onboards new members -- we would want to support it because we want to support the best art possible, regardless of how "nounish" it is. I actually think the play is better if there's absolutely no requirement that it focus on nouns. "Sponsored by nouns" would be enough. The idea would be that nouns gets some sort of social capital for having funded good art. I actually think the better approach in this case is not to have the play (or the art more generally) have to have noggles, or be about nouns, as then it has a better chance of having broad appeal and thus a higher chance nouns can start building social capital for being a purveyer of great art. The argument then follows that by building brand / social capital for nouns through funding the best possible art, maybe we can attract larger donors who are willing to help fill our treasury because they like what we've funded and curated and would like to see nouns continue to serve that role. Maybe like the a24 approach. Every film is not "a24 this, a24 that". The films themselves are not obsessively jamming a24 down your throat. Yet, they've become synonymous with a certain indie cool aesthetic in film such that people will seek out films just bc a24 produced it. Nouns could be the same. Not every piece of art needs to be SUPER NOUNISH and in fact it's probably better if they are not. Rather, over time nouns builds up social capital and a reputation for having funded great art such that if a new piece drops that is funded by nouns, our following of fans would want to see or appreciate the art sheerly because they trust our taste. my 2c
bringing-back-small-grantsI think there's such a thing as prophouse fatigue, so something I'm interested in is bringing back small grants from an elected board that decides who to award grants to. Think 25-50ETH given to a small group which then distributes 1-5ETH grants to team that apply directly to the grant. I got my start in lil nouns through a similar grant. It's a win for builders because you can build whatever you want (without it having to align with a round) and its a win for the DAO since you don't have to vote on every round
+1 > It always feels a little off when event sponsorship proposals show up just a week before the event. It makes it seem like Nouns is just an afterthought, used more as a last-minute way to cover costs rather than something they truly wanted to build around. > > Events should be proposing months in advance so the broader community has time to actually get excited and contribute. It also gives the proposer time to hit proper production timelines and lets us, as a DAO, actually maximize the opportunity.
@wylin I didn't say it was ugly, just that it's funny everyone gets so stiff about a new trait. It doesn't even matter how good the trait is, there are always people who freak tf out about preserving the "purity" of nouns. Nouns is the infinite art project, I like adding new traits, especially when there is a good faith effort behind them. gg +1 > hahaha its so funny to me that people hate this. I love it. m'lady
+1 > Tough vote. I've supported Kendama in the past and think it can be a good fit. That said, I'm going against for a few reasons: > > 1. Rounds.wtf isn’t a great fit here. The Kendama scene lives on Instagram, and I haven’t seen much effort to grow there. The last campaign felt internal, with little community reach. > > 2. I wish this was written in first person. I'd don't know what sort of views dusk or jane represent aside from breakeven movement. I'm optimistic about folks wanting to take responsibility in nouns, but I don't feel comfortable given how little I know about the two folks here. I'd love to listen in to a few spaces hosted on some other channel to test the waters here though
Normally I would consider ~600K to be a huge huge spend. Fundementally though, I agree with seneca and think that nouns best asset is it's people. The flows team has been great, and they are doing something both positive sum and genuinely interesting and novel for the future of nouns and governance as a whole. Keep it up rocketman and team +1 > after four years of shots on goal(s), it is clear to me that the best of nouns is its people. having mechanisms that attract, reward and retain old and new is important! it is what keeps the wheel churning. > > through building prop house and rounds, i've learned a lot -- all of which we can see in flows (and a whole lot more!). these types of systems are what allow us to continue to grow the bottoms-up community that is nouns. > > rocketman and riderway are talented builders who deserve our vote of confidence to continue to do what they do best. good luck! +1 > I think its definitely +EV for Nouns to continue to support this experiment in some way. Flows is one of those products that attempt to course-correct Nouns and thats exactly the type of energy and operators we want. So ultimately I think we should give rocketman and team more rope here, im just unsure about the specifics, hence abstaining this time.
As someone who most closely aligns with the "nouns funds software" thesis, I don't think it's worth another ~70K into Nerman. I'd be much more into any sort of prop that aims to bring nouncil onchain
As someone who really loves the nouns funds software thesis, the software needs to either 1. show growth 2. be novel / experimental such that we learn something new from the build, or contribute something new to the community As much as I appreciate you submitting this prop and working on software, I can't get myself excited about funding an NFT folder which isn't exectly a novel idea. Thanks

thank you very much for first signaling though before locking in an against vote. I'd rather give him an NFT -- paying him feels so corporate and gifting nouns is part of a long history. Sure some don't work out, but protecting the public resource doesn't make as much sense to me when there are 100s of nouns in the treasury and we aren't exactly burning through them +1 > Wylin is indeed a community member worthy of our respect, and we believe he deserves retroactive rewards, but not in the form of Nouns NFTs. nounforce-one:-bixbite's-proposal-tracking-&-treasury-recovery-mission-⌐◨-◨ I really like the idea Bix. I wonder if there is a way to cut the scope slightly so it's not 6 months up front? I also like what someone else below suggested which is something like a % fee for funds returned that would go back to you. Incentive alignment feels like a great way to make something like this more palatable to folks in the dao who may be more price sensitive these days
to answer the q -- because it's an improvement, and the idea of keeping things worse just because we may not have previously noticed is flawed imo. ya the auction is cooked as a revenue mechanism, might as well give them to deserving community members now. Now that the unlimited money glitch is patched, less people will care about nouns, and so the scarce resource will be talent + interest. Hopefully enough of that can get us over the hump to the point where the treasury can be revitalized in other ways. gg +1 > Nouns auctions end at 0.71, the lowest in history. Community response: let’s gift a few.

I don't hate this prop as a wake up call to better updates though. Propdates isn't really cutting it anymore. Not sure if Matty is around either, or if his tenure ended. Need someone like him to track status and report back to DAO +1 > trying to add weight on the other side and normalize voting FOR canceling a stream. have we ever cancelled a stream? (probably did but not anything remotely ambiguous or consequential is my guess). this is my criticism of the view that streams are a big fix towards accountability. we almost never cancel > them and anyone raising the possibility of doing so gets so much hate and criticism that you’d be crazy to raise the thought publicly unless the team has completely abandoned the project. i don’t know all the details here but feel comfortable voting for cancelling since i’ve always been consistently skeptical of the execution with this team. there’s always a trend of communication and engagement flaring up around proposal time and the execution and results feeling shallow or self serving from my eyes. that’s just me though and admittedly i’m not as close to the dao these days as i used to be.
