Not really a DeFi play as much as a play to increase bottom-up activity in Nouns.
Can you tell me more about how we might use existing yield for this? Unsure how that works. Thanks!

@mikegood.eth @bixbite.eth - thanks for your feedback! Seems like you have opposing views around whether or not retrofunding for IRL events should be confined to nouners. There's some nuance here I should explain.
The idea is that anyone can get funded for running a nounish event (even if you don't have a Noun), but only those with nouns can submit events for retrofunding. This would hopefully align incentives: hosts are encouraged to hold nounish events and nouners decide whether or not evens are nounish enough to warrant retrofunding.
@bixbite.eth re: onboarding new people, the mechanism described above creates an incentive for new people to get involved in the community. That's how it's worked in the last year, anyway. People come for the retrofunding and stay for the friends they meet. Personally I think it'll work even better for Nouns than Black Flag because Nouns has a lot more projects that are going on. I saw this happen at an event this week when we had two nouners come by and show off their projects - the newbies in the room were floored and wanted to know more about Nouns.
@mikegood.eth - re: rules on getting the funds back, rather than outline a comprehensive set of rules, we instead have 2 trusted nouners on the multisig (willywonka and indexcard) who can pull the funds back any time they want. This again is meant to align incentives - Black Flag is incentivized to make this work for the Nouns community because if we don't, the two multisigners can take the funds back without any further need for consensus. Willy and Indexcard could ask for a nounish sign up form, for instance, if they thought it would make the initiative run more smoothly.
Thanks again for the feedback!
# Use Treasury Yield to Sustainably Fund Nounish IRL Events
# TL;DR
[Black Flag Collective](https://blackflagcollective.org/) has been [sustainably retrofunding IRL events for 10 months](https://snapshot.box/#/s:black-flag.eth) using treasury yield. In that time **we have retrofunded** \~**$2537 USD to 14 hosts who ran 34 events in 14 worldwide locations for 954 attendees.**
This proposal aims to **sustainably fund Nounish IRL events** by giving Nouns holders the ability to propose and vote on monthly IRL community events. **Retrofunding is entirely yield-based**, which means **no depletion of treasury**. To accomplish this, **we request 64 ETH** from the Nouns treasury to a ⅔ multisig (monkeydlinks.eth, willywonka.eth, indexcard.eth) which will deposit the funds into the Black Flag Collective PoolTogether yield vaults. These funds can be withdrawn at any time. The principal remains untouched, while the yield sustainably funds **Nounish gatherings around the world**, aligning treasury growth with real-world community building.
# URL -> IRL
**In real life (IRL) events aren’t just fun, they’re also culture-building, meme-spreading, DAO catalysts.** IRL events allow existing community members a place to share and strengthen their work, and provide an easy, friendly way for new community members to get involved.
Nouners have used the power of IRL events in the past - flagship events like Nouns Town, Hacker House @ ETH Denver, Global PizzaDAO Parties, and more intimate events at Farcon have all had a hand in proliferating the brand.
The downside of big, splashy events like the above is that they cost a lot of money, require a lot of effort, and can be difficult to judge in terms of success. **Monthly community-driven events require less time/money, and provide a strong channel for community engagement, including onboarding more Nouners to the community.**
# How It Works
**1. Nouns Deposit ETH**
- For this proposal, 64 ETH is deposited into a ⅔ multisig (monkeydlinks.eth, willywonka.eth, indexcard.eth)
- The multisig will deposit the ETH into the Black Flag Collective yield vaults.
- The yield vaults are PoolTogether v5 [USDC](https://basescan.org/token/0x119d2bc7bb9b94f5518ce30169457ff358b47535) and [WETH](https://basescan.org/token/0x23Cd31beEc8980E7F8AEb7E76D45Fe3da4de1592) pools on Base, with AAVE as a yield source. PoolTogether v5 contracts have been running for 2 years with no breaches. They were audited by Sherlock, Code4rena, and 0xMacro.
- **Yield is distributed monthly** — principal sits securely in the vault contract.
**2. Community Voting**
- Each month, any Noun holder can [propose to retrofund an IRL event](https://tally.so/r/wLoPov).
- Nouns/BlackFlag voters vote on [Snapshot](https://snapshot.box/#/s:black-flag.eth) to decide which events are retrofunded.
- We expect 0.2 - 0.25 ETH/month to distribute monthly based on current AAVE yields (3%).
**3. Reporting & Impact**
- Hosts must put Nounish branding on their online promotion and post photos of the event online (ie. Farcaster, X, Instagram) to be considered for funding.
- This creates monthly Nounish cultural capital both IRL and online, transparently and sustainably.
# About Black Flag Collective
**[Black Flag Collective](https://blackflagcollective.org/) is a project aimed at fostering IRL connections through sustainable onchain infrastructure**. We're a community-run collective that helps bridge the gap between URL and IRL through sustainable funding for real-world meetups — without draining treasuries.
Since launch, **we’ve hosted 34 events, empowered 14 different hosts, and brought together 954 attendees across places like Paris, Kyoto, Los Angeles, Toronto, Latvia, Africa**, and more — all curated through open Snapshot voting. Black Flag Collective is a project by the BCard Foundation, which also launched the [Nounish Debit Card](https://getbcard.io/) in the US 2024.
# Why Nouns Should Support This
- 🌍 **Community Growth**: Incentivize IRL gatherings that proliferate the Nouns meme.
- 🥳 **Engagement & Utility**: Noun holders can propose and vote on events on a monthly basis.
- 🪙 **Sustainability**: Funds are not spent, only yield. The principal can be returned at any time.
- 🔎 **Transparency**: Public multisig, onchain payments, open voting.
# Request
We’re requesting a **64 ETH deposit** from the Nouns treasury into the Black Flag Collective PoolTogether vaults, managed by a multisig. PoolTogether v5 pools have been audited and running for 2 years with no exploits (audited by Sherlock, Code4rena, and 0xMacro). They are drawing yield from AAVE, a battle-tested and trusted collateralized lending protocol.

In response to dotnouns, for the record:
- Nouns BCard has Apple Pay/Google Wallet and has had it since launch (because dotnouns.eth insisted on it and said he'd pay for it)
- Our agreement was for BCard to release the card and for NNS to market the card and get users. dotnouns.eth estimated he'd get 1000 users on the card, but when launch time came you posted a frame and then ghosted us. You told us you'd get us 5 beta testers (5!) but didn't even deliver on that.
I can appreciate you have things going on in your life, but it doesn't change the facts that you not only reneged on your agreement to get users for your Nouns BCard and pay the $5K costs, but also that you ghosted us.
It's also a fact that I never got dotnouns.eth to sign a legal agreement. It's also a fact that I believed dotnouns.eth when he said we'd work it out after prop 711 passed and then ghosted me again immediately after. So you could say that I am naive.
I'm not looking for the money. I'm not looking to mess up your project. I'm posting this because I feel I have to to move on.

Would also like to disclaim for all in my mind questioning and debating is part of being nounish as this avoids misinterpretation and nothing should be taken personally as flows challenge disclaims now.

One sticking point was that dotnouns wanted an Apple Pay/Google Wallet card immediately at launch, which would cost BCard another $5,000 USD straight to our card provider. We were already doing a lot for free so we were hesistant, but dotnouns said he would pay for this, so we spent the money upfront with our card provider.

How many updates in his propdates are legitimate? And how many nouners are complicit in their support and actions?

I agonized over writing this comment as I suspect it will get me a lot of hate, but was encouraged by a few nouners so here it is.
In late 2023 we at BCard partnered with the NNS team to create a nounish debit card. The idea was that we would provide a custom card for free to the Nounish community (something for which we would normally charge $15,000 USD), and NNS would help us with distribution and connection with the Nouns ecosystem
We worked with dotnouns.eth on design and execution.
At launch, NNS released a blog article and frame for the card and...promptly ghosted us. The agree upon co-marketing didn't materialize and neither did the $5K that Dom/dotnouns.eth personally promised us.
I tried to put it behind me, but then NNS posted a propdate which PROMINENTLY included BCard's work as something they did: https://www.updates.wtf/prop/473
I reached out to dotnouns and he said we would work it out after his prop (711) passed. When 711 passed, he ghosted me again.
I've kept my silence until now because I don't want to have this negativity around me, but if I'm being honest this ordeal has made me mistrust the entire Nouns ecosystem.
It's not just the $20,000 USD that we gave away for free. It's the idea that if dotnouns.eth, a very prominent and popular community member would do this to us, who else did he do it to? How many updates in his propdates are legitimate? And how many nouners are complicit in their support and actions?
I've walked away from Nouns are a result of this, but I am leaving this vote in the spirit of the DAO.
It’s a great idea. The potential of FC for DAOs has not yet been realized - having 3 teams working independently allows for exploration in proliferating Nouns
I think the work the NNS team is doing to proliferate the Nouns brand is going to yield long term results. NOGS allows for brand alignment at a more granular scale than other nounish tokens, which means more people can show their alignment. Keep at it!
