I definitely want to throw my support behind Mono and Lex and the whole Nouns Amigos crew. They are passionate and hard working. It is exciting to see how connected they are to nouns and how committed they are to expanding the brand in LatAm. Making nouns accessible and exciting for diverse communities around the world is good for nouns as a whole and we should support them with the funds to bring people into nouns in a way they’ve proven is working. They know what they're doing and I wish them luck!
I have wanted to see a Nouns musical since my very first days connecting with the nouns community and as such, I am on board for this generally. It was my intention to come and vote 'yes' on this, because I met Max and Jeff at Nouns Town and they seem like talented, and passionate people. But if I can't bring my own experience and knowlege to my voting here then what's the point of me voting at all?
While the overall concept of this musical is appealing, I'm finding this proposal a bit light on. The song 'take my hand', is nice, but feels like a pop song and is vague on how it functions to move the plot forward at all (this is not the forum for specific feedback, but I have a lot). I'm not sure how successful it can be as the selling song for a musical. There is mention here of a 'weeklong songwriting camp', but no real detail on workshops or dramaturgy or how the actual theatre making of it all is going to be developed, which I would love to see. A musical is not a concept album. Presumably, Max has experience doing this kind development before for his 'Adam & Eve' musical, but I couldn't find much info about it and would love to read more about plans for the development process of this musical. Working on a script for months and then having a 'script doctor' edit with the writers feels like an unorthodox way to workshop a musical. I would vote yes on this if the first 120K was for workshops and development, not script writing and social media.
If this doesn't pass straight away, I would really like to see another proposal soon with more information on how you actually plan to make a musical, because I feel like this could be great! And if it does pass I would love to read more about the next steps! Good luck.
I wanted to signal my support of this project and team. I played Brennen’s game at Nouns Town and thought it was fantastic. I also think that as more IRL tabletop gamers move online (massive growth in online playing since the pandemic imo) this is an exciting way to bring a whole new wave of people into the Nounish community, through something they already understand and love. If I had a vote, they would definitely get it.
Love the passion and commitment from this team who have already done great work proliferating nouns in Korea. Think this is a great opportunity in a growing, curious demographic.
Strong FOR! My personal feeling is that giving people a prop to participate immediately enhances their engagement and interest and can create a really deep connection for new fans straight away. Additionally, by being something that people WANT to be photographed wearing, they amplify the amount that Nouns is repped on social media. From experience I agree that “All faces wearing Lo-Fi Noggles were happy faces!” And the photo opportunities are endless! I can see them being particularly useful for e-sports!
Because they are cardboard and flat packed they function like an interactive business card, and even though they are ‘low-fi’, they are still very aesthetically appealing and high quality, while also using less resources than the plastic versions. We would use them a lot at nounish.
