Just because I have other obligations and immerse myself elsewhere does not mean for an instant that I am not fully committed nor carefully observing Hachi. On the contrary, quite the opposite is true for my role thus far has been primarily that of an observer. Which although may seem insignificant to some is perhaps the most important role of all.
I have seen and participated in a great deal within in this emerging space. Some of it beautiful, some of it ugly. What I can say for certain is that no project, narrative, or movement can advance without community. Whether it be Bitcoin, Ethereum, Shiba or Doge, the same can be said for all. It is always the community uproar and enthusiasm that endures, enlightens and then finally triumphs.
It is important that you understand not just my role, but your own. I am like a tank of gasoline, forever gathering and filling in hopes of flint. Faber, my dear friend, as you well know is that flint. You, the community, are the spark. Without all three we are but idle objects, poorly placed and waiting. No matter how much work I, or Faber, or Aramis do. It is you and only you that can set forth Hachiko s legacy, casting it aflame and burning brightly through the skies for all to see. For we are all cogs, dependent upon one another in order to turn.
This is why we are always so very patient in culminating the right sort of people and community before exposing our efforts and proceeding. The board must be perfectly set. I could have, as previously stated, unmask myself long ago and in doing so sent soaring the market cap of this project. But to what end? For its spark to burn too brightly only to wither and die?
If we are to build something resilient and lasting as Faber so eagerly urges you to see and pursue, then we must do so gradually and slowly. Hand picking our prodigies and players. Consider any existing project, assess and examine it thoroughly. Do so and you will find it lacking, with very little in common to what we have built. Show me another whose loyalty outweighs Faber s and I shall concede defeat. But you will not, because look far and wide though you may, there is very little of substance elsewhere to be found I m afraid.
Soon, everyday people shall flock forth and when they do, how many tales will they have heard about dishonest, poorly motivated people and their exploits? This number increases by the minute as those who seek to destroy this sacred space amass and conspire. I have told Faber since the very beginning of our venture together that we shall be the shepherds that guide the flock and so shall you, our trusted and resilient community.
I shall be at Shibuya Station, Tokyo tomorrow with my counterpart and Aramis. Should we happen to cross paths we shall both know with little more than a glance or at most, a nod, just who one another is and what it is we stand for. A branch falls from a tree. Those watching observe. But none know which way it will fall.
This simply analogy of a branch falling from a tree should tell you all you need know about the value of community and why what we are building is so very important. It s not about the branch. It s not about the tree. It s not even about which way it will fall. It s about those observing the project from the ground up and the extent by which they trust and acknowledge each other.
This grass-roots community has grown tremendously since inception and I do not mean in terms of measurable size or numbers. I mean the individuals themselves, from what I ve seen and heard and witnessed, have made considerable strides forwards in their lives and found themselves backed and supported thoroughly by those within this community.
Faber instils values, Aramis steadies the path, and all the while I translate the writing on the wall. From hieroglyphics to code my role is that of converting the essence of what Bitcoin and Satoshi were and always will be into something more malleable and widely accessible to the public.
Keeping in mind raw, unchecked and uncondemned capitalism, without values, limits or regulations is and always will be a clear, concise and unfortunate entropy of human nature in its current state. Whatever state that happens to be. This form, this impulse, this very nature, will however always find itself subject to reconciliation come the boiling point. This point is precisely when and where the process is both most violent and fragile, and therefore where well planned and highly prepared interception proves most impactful.
As stated, the need and right for all to access a peer-to-peer body of finance free from interference is the very consensus in which all digital bills must be conceptually written. Something many have forgotten during the standstill the industry current faces on account of monthly quotas and yearly projections. That is why I know for certain, beyond doubt, that regardless as to what others might say, the founding principles of any community- define it. That is why Hachi shall shine whether this cycle or the next. It matters not.
Even those I once considered close colleagues are beginning to see that Bitcoin is more than just a chain or technology. It is a system of beliefs and values that can be translated and transferred from one means of expression to another so long as distribution remains fair. It is in fact an ideological consensus capable of existing anywhere and everywhere, like some effervescent substance.
This project is unlike the countless others launching daily because it was with great consideration and ample contemplation that we endeavored to provide this space with meaningful and lasting value. Faber and I did not recklessly embark to accomplish the unknown without due preparation and thought. We considered for a great period what and how we would invoke from this industry a revolutionary and impactful movement.
As always, those that remain loyal shall reign victorious and when they do, I shall be among them, as an equal.
Today is the 8th of March. On this day 88 years ago, Hachikō departed yet remained eternally in the heart of a nation. We celebrate his loyalty and revere his example today and live by it on all others.
At Shibuya Station in Tokyo, dog lovers will attend to acknowledge his legacy and share in their love of man's most dependable companion.
When he left that station one final time, it was most assuredly with the intention to return the following day would his ailing body have allowed it.
Ask yourself in earnest how committed you believe you're capable of being? How much could you endure for those you love or in pursuit of a noble purpose? Most would say they could weather the storm. No one knows until they actually face it. Take inspiration from those who have and harden your resolve should you find yourself in a tempest. They come for us all eventually.
Many have shown faith by placing HACHI in the contract, and their loyalty is being rewarded. There's room yet to spread the message however. If we are truly intent on creating a decentralized organic community, we need people to step forth of their own volition.
We can have decentralized code, tokenomics, and leadership but without inspired and driven community members willing to carry the cause forward, our decentralization is confined to mathematics. We have to go beyond this. We must work to instil an emotional, even spiritual transcendence to Hachi's example so that it may truly propagate and reignite the movement it started 88 years ago.
If my involvement in previous endeavours was made known, Hachi s market cap would surge inordinately. But to what end? To ride upon the priors of my reputation and inevitably wither into obscurity? This would be pointless and a waste of time for all involved.
What can be said is that this differs markedly from my prior works. Notably, I have both Faber and now Aramis in conjoined focus. These partners I entrust wholly to put in the work required and instil the values necessary to build a strong grass-roots community, characterised by principle and commonality.
Never have I been a part of something that moved so slowly, yet never have I partook in a process purer in conception. The vision is clear and the road to its realisation clearer. What must be maintained throughout is the primacy of our decentralised work. This is Faber's strong suit, and the reason I engaged with him. He is precisely the sort of builder the space needs.
As Hachi is built from the ground up and every member of our movement has given not just their attention, but their hearts and souls, our collective is poised to break into the next market cycle with an unmatched intensity.
Hachi isn't going to fade away, like some weekly flavour that pumped on a Tuesday, dumped on Thursday and was dead and done by Sunday. His endurance inspired his legacy and so it will ours. Hachi will be there for the next run up, and the one after that, and the one after that.
Those that exited and left us will pound their fists and shake their heads, those that took profits will return, realising that our potential only scales with growth. Zealotry has its consequences. Uncompromising fanaticism seldom brings about the desired diffusion of change. In the pursuit of a revolutionary system, crucially that which seeks to iterate on what came before it, there necessitates a degree of malleability to entertain integration and ease of adoption.
There are however principles so immaculate in conception that are deserving of support without compromise. The right for all to a system of peer-to-peer finance free from interference fits the bill in my view and always has.
What has remained problematic is the inherent complexity of such a system. Interfacing with decentralised networks undoubtedly requires a degree of know-how. Things have certainly gotten easier for users over the years. There are well-intentioned developers deserving of great commendation for their applications, on-ramps and initiatives which have all grown our industry for the right reasons.
With so much swirling in the press-halls, new users now more than ever must be made to feel welcome. Bad actors must be called out as we see them, and a fundamental re-adjustment of expectations must occur. Why are we still here? Do these founding principles resonate with you or is self-interest your only motivation?
Speaking for myself, I ve stuck around all these years because despite every setback, every crumbling house of cards, the principles that underpin Bitcoin s conception endure. They are as robust now as they were during the WikiLeaks situation and have remained so through every tribulation in the decade plus between.
So why Hachi and why now? I come from a time where many would say such an endeavour is heresy, that other coins are an affront to the original vision. I don t believe this to be the case. As I said, zealotry has its consequences. We can never hope to achieve mass salience with such a narrow view. It is possible to remain true to the original vision of decentralized financial tools while still innovating and driving the message further.
Getting involved in something like this was not a decision taken lightly. The connotation with underhanded value extractions is not lost on me. Such is to be avoided at all costs. A powerful message sits at Hachi s helm. This is all that is ever needed to seed a movement. Never underestimate the value of exponential growth and network effects. So many did yet look where we are.
As a developer myself, I m familiar with the journey and am ready to embark on another. Faber s enthusiasm swayed me, and I found the display of loyalty in the narrative poignant. It was analogous to belief in the cause back when things appeared a pipedream. Bringing users together and exposing them to the original tenets of decentralization is enough for me.
Community and cause triumphs over all.
The creation of sustainable networks that can function without trust as a requisite is fundamental, yet this draws more upon considerations of design than code. We've seen what happens when self-interest occupies the helm.
What's also imperative is that the supply is distributed fairly. We must not only remain loyal to one another, but loyal to the foundational principles of decentralization. I'll be burning the liquidity as an ode to loyalty, my first demonstration in this regard.
There is no reason to take to the rooftops about what we're are doing here. Keeping quiet, buying small and only sharing where its needed will be most effective in positioning our community until the time is right.
Finally, I don't believe it prudent to be preoccupied about the wrong sort of attention. As long as the vision and principles are sound, there can be no question as to the integrity of a verifiably dispersed movement free from lever pulling.
