The composition is built upon a foundation of off-canvas layers—invisible structures that influence the visible artwork, creating a sense of depth, flow, and natural emergence. Central to the visual language of Billows is the use of Bezier curves and Perlin noise, which simulate the soft, sweeping movements of coral polyps and the ever-changing contours of underwater turbulence. These curves twist, stretch, and interact dynamically, mirroring the silent choreography of the structures with its partner tide.
Each piece in the Billows series is uniquely generated, with a focus on fluid motion, color harmony, and compositional balance. "Ouroboros" is inspired from the idea that we as humans must continually devour ourselves to be reborn with new understanding. The algorithm is a grid of rounded squares, continuously spinning, an eternal cycle which expresses unity of matter and spirit which never disappear but perpetually change form through this cycle of destruction and re-creation.
