# Maty in Nouns (2024)
**TLDR**: Fund maty to continue tracking funded [proposals](http://www.proposal.wtf) and writing [weekly newsletter](https://nouns.substack.com/) for the rest of 2024.
### Tracking proposals - proposal.wtf
It's hard for individuals to follow the progress of projects after they get funded, the information is scattered and the proposers often don't know how best to share the information. Accountability is important.
- I'm following up with builders of all funded projects and sharing all the awesome work they've done.
- I am trying to get the most out of these projects in other ways too - trying to salvage "failed" projects, getting assets and items that might otherwise go to waste (e.g. helping connect Nouns Coffee shop team with previous Nouns Coffee builders).
- I am trying to direct proposers to post updates on [Updates.wtf](https://www.updates.wtf/) (e.g. updates by brandomighty, Blu, marc horowitz,...)
- Thanks to those follow-ups, I have contributed to a lot funds being returned to the DAO (\~175 ETH), both in terms of leftover funds, forgotten volatility buffers and revenue splits.
- All of the data is stored in interconnected Notion dashboards, which allow searching and filtering based on many properties (category, value, true cost, ..).
### Newsletter - paragraph.xyz/@nounsdao
Nouns DAO is very active, with hundreds of funded projects & still more seeking funding. That means there is a lot of information, scattered throughout different channels (multiple Discord servers, Discourse, Twitter, ..).
- Im publishing a weekly [newsletter](https://paragraph.xyz/@nounsdao) highlighting the biggest things happening around Nouns, showcasing new and existing projects, proposals, art, and more.
- Serves both as an information distribution mechanism and as a historic snapshot of the DAO.
- I've been publishing weekly for over 2 years (apart from a short break in February 24), the newsletter now has over 750 subscribers.
- I've recently switched from [substack](https://nouns.substack.com/) to a web3 native Paragraph , which allows me to post the newsletter on Farcaster in a Frame format
- The Noun Square uses the newsletter as a source for their [Nouns Roundup videos](https://twitter.com/thenounsquare/status/1793728572592443765), spreading the information even wider!
### Maty in Nouns
I've been active in nouns pretty much daily since Nov 2021 (2.5 years now!). During this time I was fortunate enough to work with a lot of talented people and accomplish a lot. Most of my work has been centered around the above-mentioned newsletter and proposal tracking, but besides that:
- I was one of the founding [Nouncil](https://nouncil.wtf/) and [Esports Pod](https://nouns.gg/) members,
- I've guided and helped fund many projects and builders (via Small Grants and Prop 63),
- I've made a bunch of cool art, [noudry traits,](https://gallery.noundry.wtf/profile/0xdead753f9b1eb8f2f7372e8587e7c6e342daac89) logos (Nouns Esports, FOMO Nouns), executed multiple smaller projects like Instagram filters, playing cards, handmade rugs (some of which made it to the Wassie hotel),
- I have also enjoyed being a delegate in the past - I have voted on over 80 proposals directly and over 300 via Nouncil!
## Funding
My previous [proposal](https://nouns.wtf/vote/345) ended in December 2023, but despite that, I have continued my work even until now. I would like to continue working for Nouns for the remainder of 2024 and I'm humbly asking for:
- Noun 42 as a retro-reward for the past contributions and work done since December, I have enjoyed being a delegatee in the past (besides all the Nouncil voting) and would like to once again be part of the governance and on-chain discourse,
- renewal stream for the remainder of 2024 (May-December) at the same rate as last prop - 4.5k/month, a total of 36k.

This proposal ended in December 2023, but because I had to focus more on my studies and other IRL activities in September and October, I’ve decided to continue working on it until the end of January.
I am now taking a much needed break (feels bad after 2 years of not missing a week with the newsletter) and I will be back at the end of February!

- delivered nearly nothing from their proposal
- the Nouns' presence at the event was very limited (noggles on the back side of a flyer)
- changed the location from Oculus to less exciting one
- no documentary, no nounish looks on catwalk
- it appears they did make the leather trunk but it didnt make it onto catwalk
- showed interest in "trying to make things right" at first, but have since stopped responding to my messages

- they have only had 2 online orders (probably due to high price), so no meaningful revenue to share with the DAO, apart from that they have collaborated with Nouns Esports team
- they expressed a desire to relaunch the collection with updated pricing, no more info so far

- estimated release date was march 2023, delayed due to health issues (very slowly getting better but not working on Nouns just yet)
- collaborated with people from nounish communities to showcase them in the Nouns City they are building for the episode

- Studio1 proposals have been pretty open-ended, with David not only working on bringing Nouns Sofubi to life, but also introducing Nouns to prominent figures within the industries he works in (toys, film, ...)

- they were originally planned for Q1 2022 but due to covid restrictions in Japan, it got delayed by a lot (especially the painting part)

# Nouns Esports - CS:GO and Dota2 Rosters 2023

## Description
Our aim is for Nouns DAO to become a tier one, legacy esports brand. To achieve that, we need to consistently support our top-tier professional esports teams. This proposal ensures ongoing financial backing and assistance for our teams during the 2023 season, enabling us to continue cultivating an impactful esports brand and fostering strong community support around it.

## Event Spotlights
**Dota Pro Circuit**
The regular season format that is stepping stones to The International. The 2023 Summer Season will begin in May and culminates with a Major in Bali in late June.
**DreamLeague Season 19**
Our Dota team was invited to a 1 million dollar tournament as one of the 16 best teams in the world. This tournament circuit is ran by ESL, the biggest esports company in the world. Our success at this event will allow us to participate in a 15 million dollar grand final later this year.
**Blast Paris Major 2023 North American RMR**
The Counter Strike sticker opportunity. Our team is in Monterrey Mexico, competing against top teams from the Americas for a spot at the [Paris Major](https://liquipedia.net/counterstrike/BLAST/Major/2023/Paris) in May.
**IEM Dallas**
Our CSGO team has qualified for IEM Dallas starting May 29th. IEM Dallas is an S-Tier event just barely below a Major. It will pit Nouns against the worlds best international teams, with hundreds of thousands of viewers. 2022's iteration (pictured below) had over 12.5 million hours watched and a crowd seating thousands.

- Nounish culture extended into esports has proven to be an amazing onboarding tool and we believe we can bridge the gap between gaming and crypto, showing gamers the potential benefits of crypto and its applications in and beyond the gaming world
## Risks and Challenges
As an organization, it's crucial to consider the potential risks associated with discontinuing support for our esports teams. These teams are not just a source of entertainment for the community but also a representation of our brand and values. If we abruptly stop supporting them, we risk losing the trust and loyalty of the community we have worked hard to build.
Another challenge that esports teams face is potential fluctuations in performance during the competitive season. To mitigate this risk, it's important to provide necessary support expected of tier one rosters, including management, coaching, bootcamps, and wellness support. This helps maintain the players' focus, discipline, and motivation, especially during challenging times.
## Budget
Funding two professional esports teams for a minimum of 10 months.

## About me
Active in nouns every day for a year, founding Nouncil and Esports Pod member, Discord mod (rip), NSFW team member... but most of my work has been centered around a weekly newsletter and proposal tracking dashboards I have created in Notion.
## Tracking proposals
**Problem:** It's hard to follow individual projects after they get funded, the information is scattered. Accountability is important.
**Solution:**
- I'm following up with builders of all funded projects, providing a way for builders to share all the awesome work they've done
- Saving the data to Notion [proposal.wtf](http://www.proposal.wtf) - 5 interconnected dashboards with all the important info, allows anyone to quickly and easily search for any project, filter and sort them based on various properties or see all projects by a particular builder.
Thanks to these follow-ups, I have contributed to **46 ETH being returned to the DAO** (from 2 proposals with leftover funds).
**Future focus:**

**Problem:** Information overload, hundreds of funded projects + even more seeking funding. With the dissolution of the official Discord server, this only got worse.

## Funding
Previously my work has been funded via NSFW (monthly, based on the amount of work, 4.5-5.5 ETH), but since now I am an active member of NSFW, I am seeking funding via on-chain proposal.
I am asking for **5.5 ETH a month** for 7 months:
- 1 month retro for October (7 newsletter posts, maintaining the dashboard and adding a new one - Communities/Groups)
- 6 months going forward, paid via Sablier stream (until the end of April)
- A total of 38.5 ETH
I think keeping the bar lower temporarily is a good idea, even more so now that the community will "fragment" into smaller subcommunities and it will naturally be a bit harder to find someone to help you put a prop on chain.
# Nouns Esports Pod

### **Goal**
Proliferate Nouns through esports initiatives. Fuel the growth of a sub-community within the Nouns ecosystem.
### **Description**
Continuing the work of Prop #68, #91, and #112, this Esports Pod (comprised of esports-native Nouners and Nounsfolk) will function in a manner similar to the thriving small grants initiative within Nouns. It will use a delegated treasury to look for outsized opportunities within esports to continue proliferating Nouns with the best ROI possible.
#### **Didn't we just pass an esports proposal?**
- All of our esports proposals so far have been game-specific.
- We have a very deep talent pool of esports native Nouners and Nounsfolk who can capably proliferate across a variety of titles.
- Having quick access to funds will allow for better proliferation, as the competitive landscape has an ever-evolving calendar that makes the formal proposal process slow.
- The pod has already been pitched multiple proposal ideas from high-level esports operators.
- Sending international players to the largest fighting game event.
- Sponsoring a high-level Dota LAN.
- Signing a League of Legends team.
