GM Nouners,
First of all, we want to thank you for your trust in the creative process. We wouldn’t be able to bring this musical to life without you, and we know firsthand how frustrating it can be to put your faith in a long-term creative project. Rest assured, Isabel is, and always will be, our passion.
Jeff and I are approaching three months into writing Isabel: A Nouns Musical, and our progress has been steadfast. We are currently at page 95 of our first draft and have remained extremely consistent in our work. In addition to writing, with every scene change, we are ensuring that every aspect on the production side is being considered. This means constant meetings with the director, costume and set designer, and producer, as we slowly shape the vision of how this will come to life in two and a half years. We are mindful of the time we’ve been given and remain dedicated to making the most of it, as not to waste any of our time, and yours.
Thanks to our producer and her reach into the New York theatre world, we have been speaking with an amazing theatre called “La mama” which has rehearsal spaces on top of a beautiful experimental stage, which Is what we’re gonna need to bring this to life. Things might change between now & then, but for now, it is a perfect space.
With every line of dialogue, we grow more passionate about our characters, and we believe the Nouns community will be just as excited about the final result. This musical demands our full attention, which is why we are currently focused on writing the best script possible. Our goal is that, in a couple of years, when someone sits in that theatre, they will not only be emotionally invested in the story and its characters, but will also walk away with a deep understanding of what Nouns represents.
Of course, for now, our priority is the script, but with such little time we have to think one step ahead and are experimenting with different social media ideas, since after all, it has to become one of our top priorities in less than a year. We understand theatre as an industry, and realise the work we have to do to bridge the audience to the art. This will include some cinematic behind the scenes, explaining the tedious writing process, mixed with some more personal videos of us singing the songs and inviting the audience into the scenes with us. Of course we will also continue posting on X and Farcaster consistently.
Overall We’re having a lot of fun .
