# Free Glasses For Kids Update

We’re excited to share the progress we’ve made on the Nouns Free Glasses For Kids (FGFK) program as we build toward a major launch in 2025!
## Project Overview
FGFK is a two-part initiative:
1. **[Sight For All United](https://www.sightforallunited.org) (SFAU) Nouns Vision Van & Mobile Vision Clinic:** Building state of the art mobile vision clinics and providing vision care to underserved communities.
2. **Fitz Frames Prescription Glasses Program:** Offering free, custom-fit prescription glasses to kids in need.
We’ve been in continuous communication with all involved parties and are thrilled to announce an additional partner with 5M+ Youtube subscribers soon.

## Current Progress
### Nouns Vision Van 1.0
While our custom vehicles are being created, SFAU has completed over 26,000 screenings and provided more than 6,000 kids with exams and glasses using our Nouns Vision Van 1.0!

### Nouns Vision Van 2.0 & Mobile Vision Clinic
Landing additional federal funds and securing time for the build out has been a long process but worth it! While those funds were in place when the Prop went up it took a bit longer than expected to recieve them however Nouns will now be featured on 2 mobile care units!
We’re currently in phase 2 of building the state-of-the-art SFAU Mobile Vision Clinic and the Nouns Vision Van, which will serve Youngstown, OH, and the greater Appalachian region. These vehicles are expected to screen and treat over 75,000 patients and will remain in service for many years to come.
**Current Status**
- **Nouns Vision Van:** The interior design and equipment installation, done by Matthews Specialty Vehicles, is in progress and will be Nouns from head to toe. Delivery scheduled for mid-2025.

- **Mobile Vision Clinic:** The interior design and medical equipment installation, done by Matthews Specialty Vehicles, is in progress. As this vehicle will serve both adults and children the interior will be more subtle but Nouns will be featured on the exterior in a big way. Delivery scheduled for mid-2025.

### Exterior Design and Exposure
Our goal is to make the Nouns Vision Van not just a vehicle but an inspiring experience for kids. Something that makes them excited and proud to attend these screenings at school.
Aiming to create a vehicle with iconic status like as the [Oscar Mayer Wienermobile](https://www.oscarmayer.com/wienermobile/) or [Rickmobile](https://www.instagram.com/rickmobile/?hl=en) we researched and spoke to a few great retro-fit companies but we wanted more. Was there someone who could not only do the work but also had the audience and skills to amplify the project. We think we found the perfect partner!
Working with [Night Media](https://www.night.co) we've partnered with a worldclass builder and YouTube creator with over 5M subscribers. They are not only going to build the exterior of the van but the are also going to document the journey creating a compelling and fun video about it all. We're discussing the release of this video but are targeting mid-late 2025.

## Fitz X Nouns Prescription Glasses Program
The Prescription Glasses side of the project is on track to launch in earnest later this year and will continue through the launch of the vehicles. Giving Fitz glasses to kids on the vans will be fast, fun and the best way for them to get eyewear that fits each individual's face and style.
Fitz is preparing to relaunch their company, app, and website integrating FGFK as an integral part of this campaign.
The new app, featuring the custom Nouns frames, will address challenges from medical and school providers including additional features for doctors and schools making it easier for them to offer Fitz Frames’ custom-developed Nouns Vision frames.

- **Current Status:** The app updates are in development and scheduled for a late 2024 launch. We have a network of doctors ready to participate, ensuring we deliver glasses to kids who need them most. Once app development has concluded, we will be moving ahead to fulfill prescriptions for kids in need.

## What’s Next?
- **Vehicle Delivery:** The Vision Van and Mobile Vision Clinic are on schedule for early 2025 delivery. Following this, we’ll move into the exterior design phase and begin filming the YouTube episode set to launch mid-late 2025.
- **Fitz Frames App Launch:** Anticipated for late 2024, with a broader rollout planned for 2025, including integrated plans with doctors and additional Nouns community involvement.

## Financial and Administrative Updates
- **Payments:**
- Sight For All United has received their down payment to kickstart vehicle production.
- Fitz Frames has not drawn on their funds to date. Funds are currently in the SAFE and will be released as work begins.
- **Leadership:**
- Joshua Fisher has been managing negotiations, administration, and organization for this project without compensation, dedicating extensive time and resources in order to ensure its long term success.

## Closing Thoughts
We’re incredibly excited about the progress we’ve made and the impact this project will have on kids across the region. We know it’s taking a long time but often good things do. Sorry for not updating more often, will work on that!
