I really hear this and would love any support finding a great co-sponsor. Ultimately this team is amazing at getting the best animators in the world involved with Nouns and I think that shines through with this collection so far.
Sponsorship requires a lot in return including potential direction on type of content and required usage/ownership plus reach. We've had some great convo's with sponsors but nothing has landed yet.
We're doing thing different with CC0, creator ownership and control and don't think Nouns should lose the momentum on one of the best programs it has, with top tier executive talent that has proven themselves to overdeliver.
>
>
> Had to say it here so it stays onchain and gets conveyed.
>
> In year 3, it makes no sense for Nouns to be the only entity footing the entire bill (2024 event was 1.9mil+ all funded by Nouns). You have got to get a separate sponsor while Nouns can play the part of title sponsor for this festival.
>
> otherwise it feels like a commercially non-viable festival which doesn't happen next year if nouns stops paying the money.
>
> --
> Please consider taking time to find a co-sponsor and rework the budgeting here.
> At least a trend or attempt towards decreasing DAO's funding liability here will go a long way. (By decreasing i don't mean cutting scope of festival which this prop did).
>
> This would have looked so much different if there was another sponsor coming in with another 400k funding for the event side by side with Nouns.

The success of Nouns Fest 2024 proved there's significant interest and engagement potential - we saw this through multiple successful promotional efforts, strong social engagement, and authentic community interest. However, these efforts weren't fully leveraged to drive sustained engagement or measurable outcomes. Our plans for 2025 directly address these gaps while building on what worked well. Let me address each specific concern:
1. Regarding Operations Costs and Growth:
I understand the concern about subscriber growth targets and the questions about our ability to deliver substantial growth. I can address your specific question about growing to 100k+ subscribers. Our recent track record demonstrates our capability - we just grew Gleeful Beasts from zero to 25,000 subscribers, 6,500 watch hours, and 1.1 million video views in six weeks with under $10k in ad spend. These results came without any existing audience or brand recognition.
For Nouns Fest, we already have significant assets to leverage: new MVP website that we’ll continue to expand, a library of high-quality animated shorts, established creator relationships, and demonstrated community interest. Our strategy could focus on three key areas that were identified as gaps in 2024:
* Strategic content distribution that integrates education about the Nouns DAO ecosystem, including how governance works and the impact of funded projects. This helps build not just subscribers, but informed community members who understand and engage with the DAO
* Clear conversion funnels from social engagement to sustained community participation, ensuring every promotional effort drives measurable results
* Comprehensive tracking and analytics to optimize performance and demonstrate ROI, with regular reporting on progress toward growth targets
We'll establish monthly milestones toward the 100k subscriber goal and adjust our approach based on performance data. This ensures transparency in our progress and allows for strategy optimization throughout the campaign.
2. Regarding Submission Diversity:
Looking at Nouns Fest 2024, there was already an impressive range of animation styles represented - from hand-drawn traditional animation to digital 2D, 3D, stop-motion, and experimental work. We had animators from all over the world and 30+ were from outside the US. The only returning animators where people from Season 1 that did amazing work and were brought back to do longer shorts, illustrating the very important Nouns Animation pipeline from @rounds > Short Short > Tall Short > Development
For 2025, we want to build on this foundation and expand our reach even further.
Our experience shows that growing submission diversity comes from proactive outreach and creating clear pathways for participation. For 2025, we’ll be implementing additional measures to scale what worked while reaching even more animation communities:
Initiatives could include:
* Categorizing submissions by animation style during collection and publishing to ensure balanced representation
* Creating targeted outreach campaigns for different animation communities (2D, 3D, stop-motion, experimental)
* Developing partnerships with educational institutions and animation programs, leveraging the work we’ve done with iHeartComix
* Implementing transparent submission tracking that monitors geographic diversity, animation styles, and creator demographics
3. The video you’re referring to was a BTS bit that was for the website only, so it’s unlisted because it’s not something we wanted on our Youtube Channel. The actual video to “Decapitation Vacation” is next to that you can watch the full thing.
4. Regarding Video Promotion:
Looking at the current Nouns Fest channel, the engagement is solid. However, your point about needing a more coordinated approach to content distribution and creator engagement is well-taken. We think implementing a structured system, weekly releases, will makes it easier for everyone to participate in building momentum for the festival.
Our experience with coordinated creator campaigns shows that when you provide clear promotional windows and support materials, creators are much more likely to actively promote their work. We've seen this succeed with Gleeful Beasts, where consistent creator engagement led to sustained channel growth.
Ideas we’ve discussed:
* Weekly featured animator spotlights flowing into monthly themed collections
* A creator promotion toolkit with customized assets and promotional schedules
* Cross-promotion opportunities between creators, including end-card promotions for upcoming releases
* Regular creator meetups and skill-sharing sessions to build community
* Coordinated release windows that build anticipation and maintain engagement
* Sharing more content around the work we’re doing selecting and developing shows
We’ll measure and optimize all these strategies based on performance data, ensuring we're making the most of every resource while building a sustainable community around Nouns Fest.
Yes, Nouns Fest is a pillar of the DAO and will continue to deliver evergreen, top notch animation, with a team that has created some of the most beloved IP the world has ever seen and has all the experience and relationships to take things further up the stack when possible.
>
>
> Changing delegations and going from candidate directly into proposal on a new submission does not resolve my questions.
>
> 1. Operation costs are 40% of the current budget compared to 29% of last year with a much smaller budget. What makes it different in 2025 that this team is going to be able to grow to 100k+ subscribers as I see 5.7k subs from a 1.8m budget in 2024. I'd like to know more specifically which of the team members has a track record of growing accounts and previous campaigns they've done before thinking that this is money well spent. Between 30k for a publicist and social media manager and a portion of exec producer fees going into promotion from 2024, feels like a route to overpromising and underdelivering.
>
>
> 2. I went to Nouns Fest and enjoyed the event, but I also want to know what you're going to do to increase the diversity of submissions. I know that stoopid buddy studios focuses on stop motion, but for these levels of budgets, there should be an increased focus on spreading wide and including more college programs instead of friends of the proposers.
>
> 3. There are videos on the homepage of nounsfest.tv that currently say "no views" which means that not even the animation team promoted the video while unlisted on the youtube channel. What is the active approach to bring the submission teams to help with growth of this channel?
>
> 4. Additional question based on Nouncil from yesterday. Why are the salaries not on a stream and a flat payment?
>
> This is 20% of our 1Y inflow projections which means that we have the ability to fund 5-10 amazing proposals per year that move the flywheel forward as a DAO.
>
@0xC7CC...7d87
We kind of hashed this out at Lil Nouns Happy Hour.
Please follow @NounsFest on Youtube and Socials to find all the videos and watch everything we've made so far expect a couple videos that are unreleased by request of the creator. For instance Stoopid Buddy is pitching one show and the other is a collaboration with DJ Marshmello who asked to lead the release.
Have never "left the hanging" as Free Glasses For Kids is happening and it's going to be amazing.
I get blamed for ComicsDAO although I have nothing to do with it and was only helping. I didn't bring them to Nouns and they were hitting all their benchmarks until they weren't. I've spent hours and hours of free labor following up. Trying to give Adam the benefit of doubt along the way but it hurt me.
Have put so much heart and soul into Nouns, so much time spent, brought so many people here, have helped so many. Maybe not always the best communicator but I'm always here and do it for the love the ⌐◨-◨
>
>
> Unfortunately, I can't support anything that Josh Fisher is involved in. He's super vocal about this proposal, leaving the Dao hanging on multiple proposals he's expected to complete. Maybe return the funds.
>
> Furthermore, we haven't even seen a completed reel of last year and you are already back asking for more funding.

# Nouns Fest Season 3 - The Nouns Animated Universe
We are igniting the future of Animation through artistic freedom and creative control!
Nouns Fest is a trailblazer in animation — carving its place as a leader for discovering and uplifting the next generation of storytellers and creators.
**Our mission is clear:** Empower the world’s top animators, amplify their voices, celebrate artistic innovation, and offer the best terms in the industry. With the momentum we've built, we’re poised to disrupt the animation landscape and make Nouns Fest the go-to platform for uninhibited animated storytelling.

## Recap of Season 2 - 50 Short Shorts + 1 Amazing Evening
"The results? Fifty animated shorts in every imaginable media, overflowing with shameless beauty and gleeful inventiveness. These shorts were consistently hysterical, outrageous, ground-breaking and utterly-inspiring. Add another dozen superlatives of that sort to that sentence and you’ll get a sense of what this film festival was like." - [John Derevlany, Animation Magainze](https://www.animationmagazine.net/2024/10/nouns-fest-an-animation-festival-that-pays-you-to-be-in-it/)

## Award Winning Team
Nouns Fest is comprised of professionals with extensive experience in animation, marketing, development, and content production. Nouns Fest was co-founded by award winning industry veterans including Chris Waters and Eric Towner of Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, Walter Newman, Joel Cares, Joshua Fisher, and Goldy.
Moving forward Goldy and Chris will be consulting, forgoing any payment, and no longer be involved in the day-to-day operations as they are focusing on outside projects they're involved in.
## Nouns Fest Season 3 - The Nouns Animated Universe
### Animations
With Season 3, Nouns Fest will continue making best-in-class animation by onboarding 30+ animators to Nouns and creating the foundation for The Nouns Animated Universe:
**10 Bumpers (5-10 second quick clips)
20 Short Shorts (2-5 min animations)
2-3 Nouns Fest Development Projects w/ Stoopid Buddy Stoodios**
Think of Nouns Fest Development Projects like a YCombinator of Animation. Not only funding but development of your project alongside the Nouns Fest team and award winning Stoopid Buddy Stoodios. We will select excellent animators from our Short Shorts program and provide resources and hands on support in order for them to execute on developing the groundwork for groundbreaking characters amd worlds. These shows will launch The Nouns Animated Universe with the potential of becoming a mainstream IP with an ongoing series found on distributors like Youtube, Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon.
Short Shorts is just like before, we do an open call and select the winners. In additioon to open calls we will introduce some fun themes and creative challenges that we can implement along the way. For Bumpers we can experiment more with things like rounds.wtf, nouns.gg, Farcaster v2 frames, and more.
### More Exposure!
Over the past weeks, we've integrated key analytics for real-time data tracking across platforms, enabling agile decision-making. With this in place, we’ll drive awareness of the Nouns Fest YouTube Network through organic and paid campaigns, aiming for 100K subscribers and millions of views in six months. We'll transparently share bi-weekly updates on ad spend and performance.
Initially, we’ll spotlight animators we've worked with, promoting our current released and unreleased content, and document our selection and commissioning process. As momentum builds, we’ll highlight new animation properties and releases leading into weekly releases. This cadence allows for strategic promotion and showcasing talent.
Although this prop does not include a live event, we're anticipating that the community picks up the ball and we can work together on great Nouns focused events where our animations can be exhibited!

# Free Glasses For Kids Update
Hi! For those of you who may not know our history please check it out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_GgY3WAKAQ&t=5s
We’re excited to share the progress we’ve made on the Nouns Free Glasses For Kids (FGFK) program as we build toward a major launch in 2025!
## Project Overview
FGFK is a two-part initiative:
1. **[Sight For All United](https://www.sightforallunited.org) (SFAU) Nouns Vision Van & Mobile Vision Clinic:** Building state of the art mobile vision clinics and providing vision care to underserved communities.
2. **Fitz Frames Prescription Glasses Program:** Offering free, custom-fit prescription glasses to kids in need.
We’ve been in continuous communication with all involved parties and are thrilled to announce an additional partner with 5M+ Youtube subscribers soon.
---
## Current Progress
### Nouns Vision Van 1.0
While our custom vehicles are being created, SFAU has completed over 26,000 screenings and provided more than 6,000 kids with exams and glasses using our Nouns Vision Van 1.0!

*Example of the Vision Van currently in use.*
### Nouns Vision Van 2.0 & Mobile Vision Clinic
Landing additional federal funds and securing time for the build out has been a long process but worth it! While those funds were in place when the Prop went up it took a bit longer than expected to recieve them however Nouns will now be featured on 2 mobile care units!
We’re currently in phase 2 of building the state-of-the-art SFAU Mobile Vision Clinic and the Nouns Vision Van, which will serve Youngstown, OH, and the greater Appalachian region. These vehicles are expected to screen and treat over 75,000 patients and will remain in service for many years to come.
**Current Status**
- **Nouns Vision Van:** The interior design and equipment installation, done by Matthews Specialty Vehicles, is in progress and will be Nouns from head to toe. Delivery scheduled for mid-2025.

*Design mock-up for the Nouns Vision Van.*
- **Mobile Vision Clinic:** The interior design and medical equipment installation, done by Matthews Specialty Vehicles, is in progress. As this vehicle will serve both adults and children the interior will be more subtle but Nouns will be featured on the exterior in a big way. Delivery scheduled for mid-2025.

*Design mock-up for the Mobile Vision Clinic.*
### Exterior Design and Exposure
Our goal is to make the Nouns Vision Van not just a vehicle but an inspiring experience for kids. Something that makes them excited and proud to attend these screenings at school.
Aiming to create a vehicle with iconic status like as the [Oscar Mayer Wienermobile](https://www.oscarmayer.com/wienermobile/) or [Rickmobile](https://www.instagram.com/rickmobile/?hl=en) we researched and spoke to a few great retro-fit companies but we wanted more. Was there someone who could not only do the work but also had the audience and skills to amplify the project. We think we found the perfect partner!
Working with [Night Media](https://www.night.co) we've partnered with a worldclass builder and YouTube creator with over 5M subscribers. They are not only going to build the exterior of the van but the are also going to document the journey creating a compelling and fun video about it all. We're discussing the release of this video but are targeting mid-late 2025.
---
## Fitz X Nouns Prescription Glasses Program
The Prescription Glasses side of the project is on track to launch in earnest later this year and will continue through the launch of the vehicles. Giving Fitz glasses to kids on the vans will be fast, fun and the best way for them to get eyewear that fits each individual's face and style.
Fitz is preparing to relaunch their company, app, and website integrating FGFK as an integral part of this campaign.
The new app, featuring the custom Nouns frames, will address challenges from medical and school providers including additional features for doctors and schools making it easier for them to offer Fitz Frames’ custom-developed Nouns Vision frames.

*Preview of the Fitz Frames glasses.*
- **Current Status:** The app updates are in development and scheduled for a late 2024 launch. We have a network of doctors ready to participate, ensuring we deliver glasses to kids who need them most. Once app development has concluded, we will be moving ahead to fulfill prescriptions for kids in need.
---
## What’s Next?
- **Vehicle Delivery:** The Vision Van and Mobile Vision Clinic are on schedule for early 2025 delivery. Following this, we’ll move into the exterior design phase and begin filming the YouTube episode set to launch mid-late 2025.
- **Fitz Frames App Launch:** Anticipated for late 2024, with a broader rollout planned for 2025, including integrated plans with doctors and additional Nouns community involvement.
---
## Financial and Administrative Updates
- **Payments:**
- Sight For All United has received their down payment to kickstart vehicle production.
- Fitz Frames has not drawn on their funds to date. Funds are currently in the SAFE and will be released as work begins.
- **Leadership:**
- Joshua Fisher has been managing negotiations, administration, and organization for this project without compensation, dedicating extensive time and resources in order to ensure its long term success.
---
## Closing Thoughts
We’re incredibly excited about the progress we’ve made and the impact this project will have on kids across the region. We know it’s taking a long time but often good things do. Sorry for not updating more often, will work on that!
Stay tuned for more updates as we approach our 2025 launch!

## SD Comic Con: Connecting a Cornucopia of Creators
San Diego Comicon happens in July of 2023, and is a gathering of fans of pop culture, along with the artists that create content for them. With six figures of people walking through the doors, it has become one of the largest gatherings for talented people in the world. Those that write and draw comics, books, web series, movies and television, everyone goes to connect to the fans that keep them employed and appreciate them.
Bringing in outside artists to Nouns would be a huge boon to the ecosystem. It would bring different creative perspectives to an artistic project, but also bring in a fan base that currently has no real visibility to Nouns. If we engage creators, get them excited, we have already seen that they will then plug themselves into Nouns, engage with Nouns, while still engaging with the medium they are experts in.
Nouns is in a unique position to make dreams come true for creators that would otherwise be dissatisfied with their lot in their industry. If Eastman and Laird (the creators of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) had access to Nouns, not only would they have brought Nouns iconography to their books, but they would have had an outlet to seek funding, letting Nouns fund the Turtles, which would later become a licensing juggernaut. This is a perfect end use case for Nouns collabs with creators.
Our first step is to go to San Diego, connect with as many creatives as we can. We will get them to do commissioned work (which we will pay for) in a special Nouns sketch book, of which we will print many copies. This will let us open a dialogue with them to discuss Nouns, cc0, the benefits of the ecosystem, and how they might benefit from introducing themselves here.
We will aim for over 100 creators’ commissions, giving Nouns many different versions and interpretations of Nouns and Nounish things from established artists, introduce the artists to us and cc0, and finally create inroads for further exploration in the near future. We will spread our net wide, but go for the premier artists in the industry (Jim Lee, Todd McFarlane, Geoff Darrow, etc.) along with the more traditional artists. Having been in this industry for two dozen years, I am comfortable saying I can have a conversation with any level of talent.
**Nouns Sketch Book:** We will print 2,500 copies of a Nouns sketch book, with pages from the Nouns comic book contained within, as well as colouring pages, how to draw Nouns, and blank pages. We will give these away to creators, encouraging them to fill up the blank pages and give them back at the end.
**Commission payments:** This is the main source of income for creators at conventions, so we will be paying for each commissioned work. We will specify that we wish something to do with Nouns (and the pages containing Nouns will give them plenty of reference material). The rate paid will be dependent upon the work they are doing, along with what their standard rate is. As a rough estimate, we will aim to pay $300 USD for a full sketch of a Noun in the creators’ style.
We will need to have the books printed and delivered to San Diego no later than July 17th of 2023. This means we wish to be at the printer by the last week of June, which is our goal. Having decades of experience making monthly comic books, I am comfortable saying this will be 100% achievable. We have the designers, printers, shipper and storage lined up. It was essential to plot out the viability of accomplishing this prior to suggesting it.

Like the Virtuous Cycle said>>>
I think we should be bold with the Nouns DAO treasury. We should fund and cultivate a community of builders by experimenting, taking risks, and ultimately funding every high quality proposal that could lead to interesting culture and software (especially ‘middleware’) on the Nouns protocol:
- Centralized and decentralized APIs (let’s turn Noun O’Clock into an internet-wide event)
- Artwork that adds something new to the cultural conversation
- Integrations with other Ethereum primitives and dapps
- iOS and Android apps
- Hackathons and Documentation
- Things we’ve never seen before
I think we have a historic opportunity — to be bold, take risks, and ultimately attract the builders who can take the raw ingredients of the Nouns protocol, and turn them into applications that are ready to be consumed by the world. If we can do this, the DAO will attract more capital and higher quality participants, and the virtuous cycle will be complete.
