There is no point to spend funds on something like this, with the advent of AI this archive will become obsolete in zero time, not to mention that human maintained archives will always cost money to keep up to date. I would not see this as a wise us of funds.
This prop along with many of the latest props asking for 5 ETH offer little in the way actually public good funding, I would love to see anyone asking for fund start with a much smaller amount and make progress before coming back to the DAO to ask for 10% of the remaining funds. Hate to be the bad guy, but I'd like to see this trend discontinued and will vote against all 5 ETH props, without a smaller test grant with proof of follow up.
breathworklab-x-desci-fellowship A few things we like about this prop ✊🏽 -an expert in the field and experienced researcher leading the proposal and research that is adding to our collective knowledge and could open up a broader field of work -includes sufficient and appropriate public enagement and dissemination to illuminate how desci can help rather than on how desci works in the background -an appropriate budget Therefore this one is a YES from us 🧘🏻‍♂️ ~ Sincerely MetaNouncil ✨
n.o.u.n.s.---network-of-united-nounish-societiesAs a fellow participant of these Network Society experiments, pop-up cities, and ultimately a believer in the power of this movement to radically transform society as a whole I find this prop to be perfectly timed. Vitalik Buterin mention this in his most [recent article ](https://www.palladiummag.com/2023/10/06/why-i-built-zuzalu/) on Palladium. ``What if cultures or tribes that have formed online with their own goals and values could materialize offline, and new physical places could grow due to intention rather than random chance?`` Underlying this prop is exactly what is needed to bring forth these physical places, a cartographer of the Network Society space, powered by Nouns. I am personally incredibly bullish on this cutting edge development space and I think Nouns could significantly influence their progress via these activations and engagements. Furthermore I have seen Carlos in action, he has given talks, presentations, workshops, and spent countless hours helping people like myself understand what being Nounish is all about. Carlos was also the one that spurred me to get involved with Nouns and lead to my decision to buy one, this is not a phenomenon, Carlos has a unique ability to engage with people on a human level and create impact across an ecosystem as diverse as crypto. My only pushback against the amount of funding here would be toward the section outlined for Edge City Lanna, what is effectively $50,000 from Nouns to go toward Child Care and Education Programming + Health and Wellness Programming for attendees seems misaligned. IMO Edge City should be paying Carlos directly for this effort ! Not being subsidized by Nouns, regardless if the proposal were passed as it stands I would still see this as a massive effort with huge impact. I would be more in support of 25% of that amount ($10-15k) I think we should double down on people who have the desire and bandwidth to explore the furthest & weirdest regions of the web as they manifest into physical reality, funding this cartographer guild would be akin Marco Polo or Christopher Columbus, it seemed crazy at the time sending explorers out in the world to find new lands, new peoples, new opportunities, but in retrospect it was brilliant and led to unimaginable discoveries of peoples, places, and resources. **N.O.U.N.S is Nounish AF and a small bet to make on such a daring vision 🤩**
double-down-on-nounspacewtfI want to update my post here to reflect a deeper dive into the potential for Noun.space Quickly I want to echo sentiment that the DAO feels like it's under a bit of governance fatigue, which is a real issue that I am hoping to see resolved in an upcoming proposal. I'm editing my stance on this prop for a few reasons, a.) The massive success of $space, which is surely the first of many. helping bootstrap protocol owned liquidity. b.) prop offers a unique client for Nouns to engage with the broader community. c.) follow on funding now could make or break the project, it was successful delivering the V1, and appears to be more than capable of delivering this next version. Taking account their request is pretty reasonable for 6 months of work and that they have a pathway to sustainable revenue by that point I think we should bet on making Noun.space THE place. Especially given that once these updates are live anyone will be able to create custom front ends, this would make Noun.Space a place for communities to live and grow together, which aligns with my personal desire for the Nouns community. Wow I said the word Noun a lot during this response 🤣 TL:DR, shifting my no to a YES
First of all let me say this is truly an interesting story, Vinyl artwork has had a popular resurgence in the last 10 years and telling this story through the medium documentary film could be a good opportunity for the right org. However there are a few things that feel misaligned to me about Nouns funding it. + 1 to the sentiment of a few others here, @juar.eth and @peterpan distribution is key to successful launch of any kind of media production and I don't see a real distribution plan or concrete partnerships in place to get this out to the public. 2nd how does this serve the mission of making Nouns a more aligned and builder focused ecosystem ? There is some vague assumption that having Nouns attached to this doc will bring prestige and attention to the DAO, but this is only "IF" it gets completed and when it gets the distribution kicks in, which is a BIG "if "IMO. On the flip-side there are many companies who would be great production partners for such a short film + their audiences would be a much better candidates to consume the final product, I'll list a few: https://www.vinylmeplease.com/ https://vnyl.org/?sscid=71k8_klv79 https://vinylmoon.co/pages/join https://www.turntablekitchen.com/sounds-delicious/ In closing this is something I see happening quite often "Slap a Noun" on it, to fund an interesting but albeit misaligned project, for that reason I would vote No.
shrimp-tempura-headAs a new Nouns holder I don't understand how often these proposal are to add new heads, or how often the traits are upgraded. I would abstain, but also seek to codify a process for Artists looking to add suggested heads. Asking for a Noun (worth $12,000 - $18,000 currently) seems like a very high cost for such a small lift.
nounish-kitpas-art-material-for-kidsThis proposal says it all right here 👇🏼 What we have always valued is "process, not result”. I am fully in support of doing values aligned activation, especially with Kids, but flying an artist around the world with his kids to give away crayons seem like a massive expenditure for very little ROI. I would vote No
double-down-on-nounspacewtfThis is effectually a venture bet, would a VC fund this, will it be successful, what the market saying ? Where is the PMF ? I don’t understand how many ppl are using Nounspace, but asking for 100 ETH with no PMF seems a bit early in the funding cycle for this project. I would vote No.
-counter-proposal-nouns-uganda-public-skateparks-initiative-instead-of-dreamlandThe cost here seem extremely high for building a skate park in Africa, also my question is what is the current obsession with skateparks, surfboards, break-dancers, Olympic athletes ? IMO, Nouns seems to want to align itself with the builder community, but how many builders are hanging out at Skateparks ? What is the impact of having the brand associated with these types of events or physical structures being developed in far off lands, hard to measure impact and also hard to track effectiveness of the funds spent, any props that have an E-sports element should be part of a larger cohesive strategy, which doesn't currently exist. I would vote No
If the value add here is "increased participation for the DAO" I don't think this prop solves it. UI / UX is not real thing holding people back from engaging ? If I'm being honest this should be a free proposal from this fledgling app to get a bunch of active users onto their platform. So I would vote No
nouns-town-la,-2024Gm, I love events and understand how fun and exciting they can be, yet this amount of spend at this time without a clear value add to the DAO seems misplaced. Having one sole sponsor (In this case Nouns) ends up making a closed ended event, less collaboration, less cross-promotion, less attendees. I could see shifting my perspective if they re-configured the specs. Currently I would vote No
# MetaCamp x Public Nouns [Impact Fund] ## This proposal will act as an impact fund for Costa Rica, using matching funding mechanisms & trusted locals to help deliver impact to communities on the ground. ![photo_2024-05-13 12.58.21](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SJznv6k7C.jpg) # How does this initiative support Public Goods? By seeding funds for local organizations to host events & activations we show that crypto can help move the world forward, create real world impact, and lay the foundation for future relationships that lift up the entire country. How is it non-excludable? Anyone who is interested can apply, and receive matching funding through the Artizen platform. How is it non-rivalrous? The collective match funding does not take funds away from any single project, it allocates a larger portion of the match pool across projects as more donation come in. Why does it need funding right now? Our community of Web3 natives has established a base in Costa Rica, known as MetaCampus, where we're developing relationships with local businesses, community members + onboarding people into Web3. We know of many initiatives who could use these funds regenerate their local communities and start new businesses using web3. Impact/Deliverables We will fund at least 3 project in the region, such as [Futuro Nativo](https://www.futuronativo.org) , [Upe](https://u.pe/), [Amigos Riomachuca](https://amigosriomachuca.my.canva.site/regeneracion) we plan to walk these communities through the onboarding process to setup grants and share their impact. Projects ranges from empowering local data stewardship to developing infrastructural projects. Feedback Loop We plan to do a write up after the campaign is closed (May 15th - August 1st) + periodic updates with photos from the projects as funding is distributed. ## Mechanisms We plan to use Artizen fund, a grant matching program that allocates funds from their partners like [Microsoft, Sundance Films, & Protocol Labs](https://help.artizen.fund/en/collections/4075653-match-funds) to increase the amount of funding available to these projects. Some other comparable campaigns are the Funding the Commons, where the inital 5 ETH pool was matched by $350k in sponsor and donor funds, was raised by 75 projects via the [matching pool](https://artizen.fund/?main=Match%20fund%20detail&fund=1699993465541x616373638739557500&view=Match%20fund%20detail&menu=Collectors&season=4&MFmenu=Submissions) ![FTC2024-05-13 at 10.35.01 AM](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/SkRFHaJ70.png) ## Conclusion Partnering with grants matching programs such as Gitcoin, Giveth, and now Artizen is a great way to get the most impact out of any grant and should be a focus and a priority for Public Nouns, as the treasury is small and constantly being depleted by proposals, if this season of grants goes well I could see more avenues for generating impact for local communities including bringing more crypto-native payment solutions to businesses in across the region, collecting and preserving cultural artifacts, and raising funds for communities outside of Costa Rica as part of MetaCamps mission to develop regenerative global communities expands : ) ![Map 1](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/B1AoPa1QC.png)
