# GLITCH produces Nounish art # GLITCH produces Nounish art - (2024) # TLDR: The GLITCH art collective is organizing the 4th edition of its art residency on Nov 15-29, 2024. It’s a 2 weeks long event gathering blockchain artists and engineers, collaborating on the creation of new NFT collections inspired by the notion of CC-0 and Remix, open source protocols oriented towards openness and collaborations (such as Remix NFT and Impact NFT), as well as novel legal standards, such as the Token-bound license to embed Creative Commons-like licensing conditions directly into NFTs. During the upcoming residency, we will activate the GLITCH community to work towards the production of Nounish artworks and media, leveraging the whole community to generate new ideas and develop new initiatives to integrate Noggles into a variety of artistic media, with a view of bringing the Nouns community closer to the traditional art world. **Requested fundings**: **20 ETH** - 10 ETH towards the 4th edition of the GLITCH residency - 10 ETH towards a [Round](https://rounds.wtf/) to fund GLITCH artists to create Nounish artworks & media **NB: this proposal is a revision of a previously defeated [proposal](https://nouns.wtf/vote/669). We are grateful to the feedback from the Nouns community and we hope that this revised proposal is more suitable to receive fundings from Nouns.** ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHcommunity.png) # GLITCH Residency GLITCH gathers a collection of artists, engineers, musicians, researchers, performers, entrepreneurs, etc. to work together towards the production of collaborative endeavors We strive to empower people with ideas, visions, and expertise, while providing space for our attendees to reach deep into their minds and forge better models together. We exist to disrupt the status quo and to manifest positive solutions for society. ***The goal is to bring the right people, in the right place, at the right time, and then let the magic happen.*** More details about the fourth edition of GLITCH can be found [here](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1yiUeMIGCaCiWGBB8GQp3EkYbT2bImKuP/view?usp=drive_link) Below is a snapshot of the participants for the upcoming edition: ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCH4.png) Glitch is a creative environment where people coalesce to create new artworks and develop new projects or initiatives that align with the value of openness, collaboration and public goods (see below for examples of projects that emerged out of the previous GLITCH residencies). Everything produced during GLITCH is done in a collaborative manner, and every software or protocol developed is released under an open source license. In order to further the connection between Nouns and the GLITCH community, we are planning to organize a series of workshops to highlight the alignment between GLITCH and Nouns value. With the fundings received from this proposal, we will organize a [Round](https://rounds.wtf/) to invite all residents (past and present) to produce Nounish content, artworks and media that integrate Noggles. The goal is to both reinforce the relations between Nouns and GLITCH, but also leverage the GLITCH community (and its strong connections with the traditional and non-traditional art world) to bring more visibility to Nouns and its values. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHplantoids.png) ***Previous GLITCH Outcomes*** GLITCH is highly in line with the Nounish value of public goods, openness and collaboration. Below is a list of project that emerged from the previous editions of GLITCH: - **REMIX NFT** to promote a culture of remix within the NFT space: [https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EJ4ywCeEU6ZG0VODaDgK0SzWxjWgyYR8LwctfRpti4I/edit](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EJ4ywCeEU6ZG0VODaDgK0SzWxjWgyYR8LwctfRpti4I/edit) - **IMPACT NFT**: [https://pdefilippi.com/impact/](https://pdefilippi.com/impact/), using NFT to promote climate positive solutions, in collaboration with Tomas Saraceno - **Eco-coin:** a 2 weeks gathering in Wilbur, California, to design standards and protocols to reward ecologically-friendly activities through voluntary markets for impact certificates - **Token-bound License**, to embed legal licenses directly into the tokens: [https://james.grimmelmann.net/files/articles/token-bound-nft-license.pdf](https://james.grimmelmann.net/files/articles/token-bound-nft-license.pdf) - **Feral File exhibition** (ecotone): [https://objkt.com/collection/feralfile-20-ecotone](https://objkt.com/collection/feralfile-20-ecotone), promoting collaboration between artists and blockchain engineers. - **GLITCH 2.5** in Portugal to support the creation of an art festival for NFT artists and builders / makers. - **Bio-glitch**: [https://glitch.bio/](https://glitch.bio/) - a collective interested in exploring the use of blockchain and web3 for supporting the environment. - **GLITCH Protocol**: We have developed the [Glitch protocol](https://github.com/GlitchverseProtocol/scaffold-glitch/blob/glitch-protocol/packages/hardhat/contracts/GlitchProtocol.sol) to facilitate artist collaboration by allowing artworks to interact with one another in an asynchronous way through smart contract communication. When a new work is created using the Glitch protocol, or when someone interacts with a work relying on the protocol, data about the work is recorded on the blockchain, so that other artworks relying on the Glitch protocol can react to it. The code of the glitch protocol is available on [github](https://github.com/GlitchverseProtocol/scaffold-glitch/blob/glitch-protocol/packages/hardhat/contracts/GlitchProtocol.sol), as well as a [demo renderer](https://github.com/GlitchverseProtocol/scaffold-glitch/blob/glitch-protocol/packages/nextjs/test-data/threejs-audio.js) which pulls data from all the tokens connected to glitch protocol. - **Off-Grid AI Manifesto:** We drafted the [Off-grid AI manifesto](https://multimodal.art/manifesto/) that challenges the traditional boundaries of AI Art. Indeed, today, it is difficult as an artist to use AI in order to create something really “novel” because of the limitations imposed on the promptable latent space, which constrain generative AI model to hyper-aesthetics or hyper-realistic outputs. The manifesto invites off-grid AI artists to escape from the imposed constraints of these models, and reach out outside of what the model is trained to deliver. - **Mancy Manifesto:** We drafted the [Mancy manifesto,](https://papers.alien.club/the-art-of-mancy-0fcee40a0765) introducing a new artistic movement, focusing on the creation of synthetic life through artificial intelligence and blockchain technology. It’s not about bio-Art, where artists use life to create art, it’s about using technology to breathe life into something that would be inanimate otherwise. - **GLITCH on Mars sub-residency:** Led by Gene Kogan and Xander Steenbrugge, this project extends glitch art exploration to Bombay Beach, in California, bringing lots of glitchers to explore Artificial Intelligence in a Martian environment. - **GLITCH @ Fey Arts Festival:** We’re already preparing for an upcoming arts festival, [Fey Arts](https://en.fey-arts.com/), that will exhibit many of the works made by GLITCH. A group of 10 Glitchers will be there showcasing their works at the intersection of art and technology, in a fully natural setting. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHview.png) # GLITCH x Nouns Last year, following a successful [proposal to Nouns](https://www.nouns.camp/proposals/399), we received a 25 ETH allocation from Nouns: 10 ETH were intended to fund the GLITCH residency, and 15 ETH were allocated to a Prop House to fund the production of artworks within the GLITCH collective, and beyond. A summary [propDate](https://www.updates.wtf/update/399-1) was posted to provide an overview of what happened during the GLITCH3 residency, along with another [propDate](https://www.updates.wtf/update/399-2) to describe the outcomes of the PropHouse. The GLITCH [PropHouse](https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f) was very successful, with 294 votes cast for 33 props. The 5 artists selected by the PropHouse have each designed a NFT that are part of this Droposal: 20% of the proceeds will go to Nouns, 40% to GLITCH4 and 40% to the artists. Please support this endeavor by purchasing the collection ! :) Through this proposal, the Droposal's NFTs will be transferred to the Glitch Residency address temporarily before being transferred to Nouns. This is because the Nouns DAO treasury address is not compatible with the onERC721Received() function used by Foundation for mints. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHdroposal.png) Given last year’s success, we would like to repeat the experience for GLITCH4 with another round of funding to support the upcoming residency (10 ETH), and to undertake a [Round](https://rounds.wtf/) (10 ETH) to commission the production of Nounish artworks and media incorporating Noggles. ## GLITCH Rounds for Nounish artworks We aim to use the [Rounds](https://rounds.wtf/) platform for inviting the GLITCH community to propose the creation of artworks and media that represent Nounish value, both ideologically, **by promoting the values of openness and collaboration**, and visually, **through the creation of artworks or media embedding the Nouns goggles.** The Round will fund two types of projects, to be produced both during the upcoming GLITCH residency and in the following months. - **Collaborative artworks**, leveraging the broader GLITCH community to contribute to the creation of new NFTs, physical works and cultural projects that align with the values of openness and collaboration. We will encourage the production of collaborative projects rather than individual ones, and give priority to projects that are released under a Creative Commons license rather than a proprietary one. ***The proposed artworks will need to incorporate Noggles to qualify for funding.*** - **Nounish media**, This will include a series of short videos (reels) with artists wearing Noggles, interviewed by other GLITCH community members in order to explain how their work related to the values of openness and collaborations. These Nounish media will serve to communicate both the identity and the values of Nouns to the broader art community, **leveraging GLITCH artists as ambassadors to spread the word.** The Round will fund from 5 to 10 projects that specifically align with GLITCH and Nouns’ mission to promote openness, collaboration, and creative innovation. We will require that all projects funded through the Round incorporate Noogles in their creative expression, although we will leave it to the artists to decide how to integrate them into their works. ## Future involvement with Nouns: 1. **Nouns Ambassadors**: GLITCH artists with firsthand experience with Nouns tools and governance can act as ambassadors for Nouns in the broader blockchain and art world, showcasing how the Nouns ecosystem supports creativity and open-source projects. ***By spreading awareness and engaging new artists, the GLITCH community can help expand the influence of Nouns beyond the residency.*** 2. **Creating more Droposals**: We will encourage GLITCH artists to design and launch new NFT collections on Droposal, inspired by Nouns aesthetics and values. These collections will contribute directly to the Nouns treasury, and a portion of the proceeds will be reinvested into supporting future GLITCH residencies and artists. ***Such initiatives will build a stronger bridge between the Nouns and GLITCH communities, potentially fostering new long-term collaborations.*** 3. **Nouns Governance:** Regardless of whether this proposal passes\*\*,\*\* Will Papper has agreed to delegate his Nouns to GLITCH so that the ***GLITCH community can become an active participant in Nouns governance.*** # Path to sustainability: - **Revenue from NFT Sales**: The NFTs created during the GLITCH residency are designed to generate income for both artists and the GLITCH collective. By incorporating innovative models like the Droposal (where proceeds are split between Nouns DAO, GLITCH, and the artists), GLITCH aims to build a consistent flow of revenue that supports future residencies and projects. A percentage of these proceeds goes back to Nouns, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two communities. - **Expanding Partnerships**: GLITCH is working to expand its network of collaborators and funders. By building relationships with other DAOs, blockchain organizations, and art collectives, GLITCH aims to diversify its sources of funding and support. This will reduce reliance on any single entity while continuing to grow its influence and reach. --- # Team: GLITCH collective, stewarded by Primavera De Filippi, Will Papper ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHprimavera.png) **Primavera De Filippi** Research Director at National Center of Scientific Research in Paris, Faculty Associate at the Berkman-Klein Center at Harvard Author of “Blockchain & the Law” (2018) by Harvard University Press Author of “Blockchain Governance” (2024) published by MIT Press Founder and coordinator of the U.N. # GLITCH <3 Nouns # GLITCH <3 Nouns GLITCH is a community that brings together a highly curated group of creative and smart individuals contributing towards or researching the use of blockchain and artificial intelligence in the artistic domain to produce new artworks, technical standards, philosophical concepts, research or products that tackle key societal issues. The underlying rationale of GLITCH is twofold: (1) to push the boundaries of crypto art, by inspiring artists and engineers to collaborate in order to explore the use of **blockchain as a medium,** rather than as a mere transaction layer; (2) to promote the values of **openness and collaboration**, by pushing artists, engineers, musicians, researchers, performers, and entrepreneurs to work together towards the production of collaborative endeavours, jamming with ideas to generate new projects or initiatives. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHcommunity.png) GLITCH is a response to the systemic challenges that exist in the art world: 1. ***What’s Broken in the Art World**:* The art world is largely controlled by a small number of gatekeepers who dictate what gets created, seen, and valued. It has become a space where financial interests override artistic freedom, limiting creativity and excluding many artists from meaningful participation. 2. ***How We’re Going to Fix It**:* GLITCH is creating an ecosystem that reclaims creative control and empowers artists. Our residencies act as incubators for innovative public goods and technologies, aiming to break down barriers and reimagine how art and technology can coexist. The projects we create not only challenge the traditional art market but propose new models for ownership, participation, and collaboration. 3. ***Alignment with Nouns values**:* GLITCH is about building an art world where collaboration trumps competition and where technology serves as a tool for creative liberation rather than commodification. GLITCH is helping to build a future where artists and engineers can freely experiment, remix, and create public goods that shift the art industry toward more openness and inclusivity. # KEY ACTIVITIES ## 1. GLITCH RESIDENCIES Every year, GLITCH brings together a highly curated group of creative and smart individuals contributing towards or researching the use of blockchain and artificial intelligence in the artistic domain to produce new artworks, technical standards, philosophical concepts, research or products that tackle key societal issues. These residencies comprise approximately 60 participants each year, carefully selected because of their values of openness and collaboration. The GLITCH community is a collection of artists, engineers, musicians, researchers, performers, entrepreneurs, etc. striving to exchange ideas, visions, and expertise with one another. Many of these individuals are polymaths, with strong ties in the traditional art world and/or international recognition in the blockchain and NFT landscape. There is no clear cut agenda for topics to be worked on, as the team believes in the natural synergies that occur from a selection of top-level participants. The idea is to have a value-aligned cohort of creative and open-minded individuals live under the same roof for an extended period of time. Participants are encouraged to work on their own projects as well as to collaborate with one another, both at the conceptual, operational and artistic level. ***The goal of these residencies is ultimately to bring the right people, in the right place, at the right time, and then let the magic happen.*** ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCH1.png) ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCH2.png) ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCH3.png) ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCH4.png) ## 2. COLLECTIVE EXHIBITIONS Collective exhibitions have been key in promoting GLITCH's mission to break down traditional barriers in the art world, by offering to emergent and established artists the chance to exhibit their work in traditional art settings, while promoting the values of openness and collaboration. - **[Ecotone Exhibition on Feral File](https://objkt.com/collection/feralfile-20-ecotone)**: One of our flagship collective exhibitions, "Ecotone," was hosted on the Feral File platform. This exhibition promoted the fusion of art and blockchain technology, encouraging deep collaboration between artists and blockchain engineers. "Ecotone" served as a powerful example of how artistic expression and technological innovation can be harmonized to explore new possibilities within the creative domain. - **[Synesthesia Festival](https://art.synesthesia.pt/)**: A group of GLITCHers spent 3 weeks working collaboratively on art pieces to be exhibited at the Synesthesia Festival in Portugal. This intense creative residency further strengthened GLITCH's ethos of collaborative creation, blending different artistic mediums with blockchain and AI technologies. - **[Fey Arts Festival:](https://en.fey-arts.com/)** GLITCH also had a significant presence at the Fey Arts Festival, where 10 GLITCHers showcased their works that sit at the intersection of art and technology. Exhibiting in a fully natural setting, these artists demonstrated how blockchain and AI can integrate into immersive, natural environments while highlighting the power of creativity and decentralized technology in reshaping the artistic domain. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHplantoids.png) ## 3. COLLABORATIVE ART PROJECTS GLITCH facilitates collaboration between artists and engineers, leading to the production of ambitious artworks and NFT collections that would have never been possible without this form of collaboration and cross-pollination. We list below the most notable ones: - **[Human Unreadable:](https://www.operator.la/human-unreadable)** the artist duo **Operator** has created an extremely successful Artblocks-curated collection of fully on-chain NFT choreographic works, which was awarded the Lumen Prize for the Metaversal Generative Art category. This collection was born and incubated at GLITCH and was made possible thanks to the contributions of many GLITCH engineers and collaborators, including Isaac Patka, and Leo Blondel. - **[Mechanical Garden](https://plantoid.org/)**: An evolution of the Plantoid art project that has benefited from the collaboration of engineers such as Isaac Patka, Ben Moskowitz, Martin Vert, 0xGiulio to evolve into a larger scale installation with AI-embeddings and upgraded NFT functionalities. - **[Animals](https://docs.google.com/document/d/19g1ZaNrm35UbdB7WbJ_P1uyrLdaBxQwhYOVL_y_0KgY/edit#heading=h.6fdonjnsi34v):** An ambition artistic collaboration between Primavera De Filippi, Will Papper, Adrien Guerrera, and Jake Hartnell to create a fully on-chain NFT collection of blockchain-based lifeforms that feed off cryptocurrency and evolve over time as new SVG genes are injected into the Aminal’s DNA code - **[Oceanic Whispers:](https://twitter.com/speciesofvalue/status/1810989942845153645)** A collaboration between the artist duo **CrossLucid** and many GLITCHers, including Elisabeth Sweet and Apolinario Passes, to create a new NFT collection of AI-generated works, with integrated poetry components. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHoperator.png) ## 4. TECHNICAL PROTOCOLS AND STANDARDS GLITCH is not only focused on artistic creation but also on developing open-source technical protocols that serve the public good. These tools provide artists with the freedom to engage in more creative expression by offering innovative frameworks that realize their visions. Anchored in collaboration, openness, and Creative Commons principles, these protocols provide artists with tools to expand their creative possibilities. The following protocols have been developed so far: - **[REMIX NFT](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EJ4ywCeEU6ZG0VODaDgK0SzWxjWgyYR8LwctfRpti4I/edit)**: Designed to foster a culture of remixing within the NFT space, REMIX NFT encourages artists to reinterpret and build upon existing works, pushing the boundaries of collaborative creativity. - **[Token-Bound License](https://james.grimmelmann.net/files/articles/token-bound-nft-license.pdf)**: This protocol refers to embedding legal licenses directly into NFTs, ensuring that Creative Commons-like licenses are intrinsically tied to the tokens. This empowers artists to clearly communicate how their works can be used, remixed, or distributed, making copyright licensing more transparent. - **[Alias.studio:](https://alias.studio/)** The Remix NFT protocol and the Token-bound Licenses combined, have given rise to the emergence of a new NFT platform, allowing for AI-generated images to an be licensed through the delivery of NFT with encoded rights. - **[GLITCH Protocol:](https://github.com/GlitchverseProtocol/scaffold-glitch/blob/glitch-protocol/packages/hardhat/contracts/GlitchProtocol.sol)** The GLITCH protocol enables artworks to interact asynchronously through smart contracts. When a new work is created using the GLITCH protocol or when someone interacts with a work deployed on the protocol, data about the interaction is recorded on the blockchain, allowing other artworks to react to it in real-time. # Objectives All these past activities have fostered a vibrant, diverse community of artists and technologists who have begun to penetrate the art world, challenging its norms. These creators are not only participating in the traditional art ecosystem but actively “contaminating” it by introducing new models of openness, collaboration, and blockchain-based creativity. The key objectives we are trying to achieve are the following: - **Attract new people into the GLITCH community:** We want to attract artists, engineers, and innovators across the blockchain, AI, and art ecosystems to participate in upcoming GLITCH residencies and collaborate on cutting-edge projects for the public good. - **Expand GLITCH Presence in the Art and Tech Worlds**: Strengthen the global reach of GLITCH by connecting with international communities of artists and technologists who are pioneering new forms of creative expression at the intersection of art and blockchain. - **Build a Self-Sustaining Ecosystem for Artists**: Provide resources and support for GLITCH artists to build lasting careers within and beyond the traditional art system, offering mentorship, funds, and opportunities to exhibit at major exhibitions and festivals. - **Drive Open Innovation Through Technical Protocols**: Continue developing and promoting open-source tools such as the REMIX NFT and GLITCH Protocol, enabling artists to freely experiment with blockchain technology in an open and collaborative way. - **Promote the GLITCH ethos in the Traditional Art World**: Leverage GLITCH’s outputs and public engagement to advocate for the values of CC0 licensing, remix, openness and public goods, nudging the traditional art world towards inclusivity and collaboration. By funding GLITCH, Nouns contributes to transforming the art world—turning a broken system into one where artists can easily collaborate and align with the values that Nouns stands for. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHview.png) ## Path to sustainability: GLITCH is actively working towards sustainability by developing long-term revenue streams. Thanks to this Nouns grant, we will be able to build a strong ecosystem of artists and collaborators in order to ensure self-sustainability in the long-term. - **Revenue from NFT Sales**: The NFTs created during the GLITCH residency are designed to generate income for both artists and the GLITCH collective. By incorporating innovative models like the sale of NFT collections through mechanisms such as Droposals (splitting proceeds between Nouns DAO, GLITCH, and artists), GLITCH aims to build a consistent flow of revenue that supports future residencies and projects. # Why Nouns ? 1. **GLITCH is made up of artists who are the most “Nounish” people we know, but aren’t (yet) part of the Nouns community** Nouns drive **radical creativity, experimentation, and community-driven innovation**, which are at the core of the GLITCH community. GLITCH artists share the values of creative freedom and understand the power of collective effort, using blockchain technology in experimental ways to push the boundaries of art and culture. 2. **GLITCH is working on initiatives that could benefit from Nouns implication, and Nouns could benefit from these initiatives as well.** GLITCH creates initiatives that embody the ethos of **open-source collaboration** and the **promotion of public goods**. For instance, the NFT Token-Bound Licensing supports the principles of permissionless innovation, by embedding Creative Commons-like licensing into NFTs to foster a culture of remixing and collaboration. 3. **GLITCH bridges the gap between crypto and traditional art, which is a community that Nouns has thus far struggled to reach.** GLITCH is at the source of groundbreaking projects that explore the creative potential of blockchain technology in the artistic domain. Supporting GLITCH will **strengthen the connection between the Nouns community and the traditional art world,** attracting new artists to the Nouns ecosystem and thereby reinforcing its influence in the art world. ### Building on Major Nouns Initiatives Nouns has successfully ventured into spaces beyond the art world, spearheading innovative projects like [Nouns Esports](https://nouns.gg/), [Gnars](https://www.gnars.wtf/), [Nounish](https://www.nounish.com/), and [Quack](https://www.instagram.com/meetquack/?hl=fr), which have expanded Nouns’ influence into esports/gaming, skateboarding, YouTube-focused creative audiences, and Instagram-focused meme audiences respectively. These initiatives have demonstrated the power of the Nouns community in shaping diverse industries by aligning them with Nouns’ values of openness, collaboration, and public good creation. However, the art world still lacks a fully realized initiative that embodies the Nouns ethos. GLITCH offers an opportunity to fill that gap by injecting the Nouns’ values into the traditional art world, and beyond. By leveraging the funding model of Nouns and building on the success of our past residencies, GLITCH has the potential to create lasting change within the art industry, much like these previous initiatives have done in their respective domains. Additionally, just as the [https://www.nouns.camp/proposals/620](https://www.nouns.camp/proposals/620) (N.O.U.N.S.) proposal fosters a creative, media-driven initiative for Nouns, GLITCH can serve as a long-term incubator for artistic and technical innovation that reshapes how we engage with art in the blockchain space. By supporting GLITCH, Nouns can expand its reach into the arts, building a bridge between creative communities and the core Nounish values. ### Previous relationship with Nouns: Last year, following a successful [proposal to Nouns](https://www.nouns.camp/proposals/399), we received a 25 ETH allocation from Nouns: 10 ETH were intended to fund the GLITCH3 residency, and 15 ETH were allocated to a Prop House to fund the production of artworks within the GLITCH collective, and beyond. The 5 artists selected by the PropHouse have each designed a NFT that will be minted through a Droposal. 20% of the proceeds will go to Nouns, 40% to GLITCH4 and 40% to the artists. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHdroposal.png) Given last year’s success, we would like to repeat the experience with another round of funding. This time, however, we would like to raise funds to foster and promote the activities of the GLITCH ecosystem as a whole, rather than just a single residency. The goal is for the GLITCH community to use these funds to become self-sustainable, so that no more grants are required. ### Future involvement with Nouns: We will deepen the engagement of the GLITCH community with Nouns and create opportunities for collaboration and co-creation. Here's what’s coming next: 1. **Becoming Nouns Ambassadors**: GLITCH artists have had firsthand experience with Nouns tools and governance. As such, they are in a strong position to act as ambassadors for Nouns in the broader blockchain and art communities, showcasing how the Nouns ecosystem supports creativity and open-source projects. By spreading awareness and engaging new artists, the GLITCH community can help expand the influence of Nouns in the traditional art world and beyond. 2. **Collaborating on Nouns Projects**: Moving forward, GLITCH artists can propose and collaborate on Nous projects, leveraging their skills in art, design, and blockchain to contribute to the creation of new NFTs, public goods, and cultural projects that align with the values of the Nouns community. 3. **Creating Droposals**: One natural progression is for GLITCH artists to design and launch new NFT collections on Droposal, inspired by Nouns aesthetics and values. These collections will contribute directly to the Nouns treasury, and a portion of the proceeds will be reinvested into supporting future GLITCH initiatives. # Estimated Budget | Expenses | Amount | | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------ | | GLITCH 4 Art / Tech residency: Organization of the fourth edition of the GLITCH residency, from November 15 to 29, 2024 at the Chateau du Fey | 15 ETH | | Grants for the production of collective GLITCH artworks: We will support artists from the GLITCH community and beyond to create artworks that push the boundaries of crypto-art by promoting more open and collaborative practices | 10 ETH | | Production of Nounish media during and after the GLITCH residency in order to leverage the GLITCH community to spread the identity and values of Nouns within the art world | 10 ETH | | Sustainability efforts: Tech and marketing efforts for the creation and promotion of NFT collections that will contribute towards funding a variety of future GLITCH initiatives | 10 ETH | | Organization of collective exhibitions in the traditional art world: Fey Arts 2025 | 5 ETH | | Collective GLITCH exhibition at [https://linktr.ee/artverse.paris](https://linktr.ee/artverse.paris) in Paris | 5 ETH | | Miscellaneous: Funds for travels, communication, participation in conferences | 5 ETH | # Team ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHprimavera.png) **Primavera De Filippi** Research Director at National Center of Scientific Research in Paris, Faculty Associate at the Berkman-Klein Center at Harvard Author of “Blockchain & the Law” (2018) by Harvard University Press Author of “Blockchain Governance” (2024) published by MIT Press Founder and coordinator of the U.N. The 5 artists selected by the PropHouse have each designed a NFT that will be minted through a Droposal. 20% of the proceeds will go to Nouns, 40% to GLITCH4 and 40% to the artists. ### Future involvement with Nouns (starting as soon as this proposal is accepted) We will deepen the engagement of the GLITCH community with Nouns and create opportunities for collaboration and co-creation. *By spreading awareness and engaging new artists, the GLITCH community can help expand the influence of Nouns in the traditional art world and beyond.* 2. *The Nouns projects created by GLITCH artists will always include the Nouns logo, and will incorporate Nouns glasses on as much material as possible.* 3. 4. **Producing Nounish media:** During the upcoming GLITCH residency as well as in the year after we will invite GLITCH artists to produce Nounish media, including a video as well as a podcast (with artists wearing the Nouns glasses). *These Nounish media will serve to communicate both the identity and the values of Nouns to the broader art community, leveraging GLITCH artists as ambassadors to spread the word.* # Estimated Budget | Expenses | Amount | | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------ | | GLITCH 4 Art / Tech residency: Organization of the fourth edition of the GLITCH residency, from November 15 to 29, 2024 at the Chateau du Fey | 15 ETH | | Grants for the production of collective GLITCH artworks: We will support artists from the GLITCH community and beyond to create artworks that push the boundaries of crypto-art by promoting more open and collaborative practices | 10 ETH | | Production of Nounish media during and after the GLITCH residency in order to leverage the GLITCH community to spread the identity and values of Nouns within the art world | 10 ETH | | Sustainability efforts: Tech and marketing efforts for the creation and promotion of NFT collections that will contribute towards funding a variety of future GLITCH initiatives | 10 ETH | | Organization of collective exhibitions in the traditional art world: Fey Arts 2025 | 5 ETH | | Collective GLITCH exhibition at [https://linktr.ee/artverse.paris](https://linktr.ee/artverse.paris) in Paris | 5 ETH | | Miscellaneous: Funds for travels, communication, participation in conferences | 5 ETH | # Team ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHprimavera.png) **Primavera De Filippi** Research Director at National Center of Scientific Research in Paris, Faculty Associate at the Berkman-Klein Center at Harvard Author of “Blockchain & the Law” (2018) by Harvard University Press Author of “Blockchain Governance” (2024) published by MIT Press Founder and coordinator of the U.N. The 5 artists selected by the PropHouse have each designed a NFT that will be minted through a Droposal. 20% of the proceeds will go to Nouns, 40% to GLITCH4 and 40% to the artists. # Estimated Budget | Expenses | Amount | | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------ | | GLITCH 4 Art / Tech residency: Organization of the fourth edition of the GLITCH residency, from November 15 to 29, 2024 at the Chateau du Fey | 40k | | Grants for the production of collective GLITCH artworks: We will support artists from the GLITCH community and beyond to create artworks that push the boundaries of crypto-art by promoting more open and collaborative practices | 30k | | Sustainability efforts: Tech and marketing efforts for the creation and promotion of NFT collections that will contribute towards funding a variety of future GLITCH initiatives | 25k | | Organization of collective exhibitions in the traditional art world: Fey Arts 2025 | 20k | | Collective GLITCH exhibition at [https://linktr.ee/artverse.paris](https://linktr.ee/artverse.paris) in Paris | 20k | | Miscellaneous: Funds for travels, communication, participation in conferences | 10k | # Team ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHprimavera.png) **Primavera De Filippi** Research Director at National Center of Scientific Research in Paris, Faculty Associate at the Berkman-Klein Center at Harvard Author of “Blockchain & the Law” (2018) by Harvard University Press Author of “Blockchain Governance” (2024) published by MIT Press Founder and coordinator of the U.N. The 5 artists selected by the PropHouse have each designed a NFT that will be sold through a Droposal. 20% of the proceeds will go to Nouns, 40% to GLITCH4 and 40% to the artists. Please support this endeavor by purchasing the collection ! :) Given last year’s success, we would like to repeat the experience with another round of funding. This time, however, we would like to raise funds to foster and promote the activities of the GLITCH ecosystem as a whole, rather than just a single residency. The goal is for the GLITCH community to use these funds to become self-sustainable, so that no more grants are required. ![](https://15goerli.plantoid.org/IMG/GLITCHdroposal.png) ### Future involvement with Nouns: We will deepen the engagement of the GLITCH community with Nouns and create opportunities for collaboration and co-creation. # Outcomes of the Glitch Artist Grants 2024 We are excited to share the inspiring outcomes of the [**Glitch Artist Grants 2024**](https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f), an initiative powered by the generous 15 ETH grant from Nouns. This **PropHouse round**, designed to build on the momentum of the **GLITCH3 residency**, invited blockchain artists and engineers to propose artworks and public goods as a follow-up to the GLITCH3 residency. The grant has facilitated the creation of a diverse range of projects, from NFTs to physical installations and performances, with initiatives promoting open and innovative artistic practices within the blockchain art space, listed below. This grant has served as a **powerful bridge between the GLITCH and Nouns communities**. Many of the participating artists and technologists, previously unfamiliar with Nouns, have now been introduced to the Nouns ecosystem. Overall, the grant has sparked **numerous collaborative opportunities**, including new ideas and potential collaborations, **enriching both the GLITCH and Nouns ecosystems**. Artists who were part of the GLITCH residency are now considering how Nouns can enhance their work, whether by incorporating the iconic Nouns noggles into their creations or by leveraging blockchain technology for greater creative autonomy. Additionally, the interactions between GLITCH members and Nouns holders during the proposal assessment and voting phases have fostered a spirit of community and mutual support. **The GLITCH artists, now familiar with Nouns, are well-positioned to refer other talented creatives to the Nouns community.** They can also act as ambassadors, spreading the ethos of Nouns and demonstrating its potential within the broader blockchain art space. Besides, the success stories emerging from this grant can inspire **future Rounds.wtf**, encouraging more artists and technologists to explore the possibilities of blockchain art. . . ## **Plantoids Garden by Primavera De Filippi** [**https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/8**](https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/8) ![](https://i.ibb.co/Y0DdMB7/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-43-26.png) **About the Installation:** The mechanical garden was produced and exhibited at the Fey Arts festival at Chateau du Fey on May 2nd to 4th, 2024, bringing to life eight Plantoids and other blockchain-based creatures. The Plantoids were augmented with Artificial Intelligence and trained in order to incarnate the personality of Alice in Wonderland, so that they could entertain the visitors while they were having tea in the room of the chateau. Every Plantoid had a speaker, and the humans could discuss with each one of them, asking them questions or responding to the Plantoids philosophical inquiries. The intelligence of the Plantoids was provided by a local LLM, in order to preserve the privacy of the conversations. ![](https://i.ibb.co/VNwBw4B/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-44-05.png) Outside, a larger Plantoid would entertain the visitors, gossiping about what is said inside and luring them into the tea room. The underlying idea of the piece is to present the concept of Techno-Mancy, i.e. the act of creating synthetic lifeforms that can interact with humans, using blockchain as their operational substrate for agency and artificial intelligence to acquire decisional autonomy. ![](https://i.ibb.co/BNkW6d7/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-45-08.png) **Post-installation:** After the installation for Fey Arts, the Plantoids have been brought to another exhibition at the Centre des Arts d'Enghien-les-Bains, in the north of Paris, where they have been exhibited for 1 month. ![](https://i.ibb.co/hKwPK3r/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-45-37.png) **Funding:** Funds from the Nouns grant were used to cover the cost of production of a new plantoid, the audio equipment, and the computer to run the local LLMs and Text-to-speech models. ![](https://i.ibb.co/HKQ9KYh/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-45-43.png) . . ## **Look Touch Own at Art Basel Digital Art Mile by OONA** **https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/3** ![](https://i.ibb.co/FDk0nh3/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-46-01.png) **About the Installation:** OONAs Look Touch Own Series continued in Art Basel at the Digital Art Mile in Art Basel Switzerland with an interactive installation and self-portrait performance art video within the Objkt booth, curated by Kika Nicolela. The Dressing Room was a performative installation which exposed my physical changes. Scars, the tx hashes of the body. The non-fungibility of implants. The Dressing Room created a changing room within the art fair accessible only one by one. In place of the mirror, a screen plays “pre-op post-op”. Next to the screen, the implants sat in a jewelry box underneath a surgical light. “pre-op post-op” is a performative video art self portrait. OONA draws the same marks the plastic surgeons drew on her chest before surgery. Recreating his roadmap in a 60 second loop of permanence and erasure (the same duration as the look touch own performance). The work interrogates silicon and scars. Silicon is both the object of OONAs examination \- the implants- and silicon chips are the foundational cornerstones of everything I use to make and share this art. **During the Installation:** OONA gave two talks to university students: one group of undergraduates from the University of Vienna and another group of Masters students from University of Zurich. **Funding:** Funds from the Nouns grant were used to cover the cost of travel, accommodation, and materials for creation of the artwork. **For additional documentation see:** [https://x.com/madebyoona/status/1802377264421593241?s=46](https://x.com/madebyoona/status/1802377264421593241?s=46) [https://x.com/madebyoona/status/1801526412605641091?s=46](https://x.com/madebyoona/status/1801526412605641091?s=46) ![](https://i.ibb.co/RDKWxPC/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-46-18.png) . . ## **AI Sculptures on Bitcoin by Gordon Berger:** [**https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/33**](https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/33) ![](https://i.ibb.co/tqs6XQ4/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-46-27.png) **About the Installation:** AI Sculptures is a series of interconnected artworks that merge AI image generation with ancient physical art mediums such as clay. Exploring how the role of an artist is being redefined in the realm of AI, by creating a custom AI model trained on most of the physical artworks produced in Gordon’s lifetime. The digital components of the artworks explore the use of novel capabilities of Bitcoin Ordinals to explore concepts such as: digital permanence, network effects, social graphs and evolution. This installation by Gordon Berger was composed of 5 physical inscriptions, 2 latent space sculptures and 5 physical AI sculptures, all made and curated by the artist himself. Exploring human creativity, style and materiality in dialogue with algorithms. These artworks were displayed at a collective exhibition which took place in Naples, Italy during NFTcc in May 2024. ![](https://i.ibb.co/w7KD5Sy/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-46-54.png) ![](https://i.ibb.co/9sP1gxG/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-47-03.png) **During the Installation:** Gordon held a presentation, educating the audience on the possibilities of using Bitcoin as a medium for digital artworks, as well as utilizing the capabilities of the new Runes protocol. ![](https://i.ibb.co/SNvG184/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-47-11.png) Likewise Gordon held two guided presentations of all the artworks in the installation. Explaining the whole creative and technical process behind the pieces to a diverse audience. During the installation Gordon was interviewed by the representative from the Sky TV station and multiple journalists. **Funding:** Funds from the Nouns grant were used to cover the cost of materials, the creation processes associated with the artworks and travel expenses. On the digital side the funding covers the costs associated with the creation of the upcoming digital sculpture collection inscribed into Bitcoin. . . ## **Carbon Offset by LB2** [https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/11](https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/11)** **About the Installation:** Carbon Offset is an immersive site-specific art installation presented in the forest of the Château du Fey. The installation consists of a holographic screen in front of which spectators are invited to expend their energy through movement (dance, sport, etc.) in order to generate a virtual tree. Each tree generated is unique, and is added to a virtual forest created during the festival. Carbon Offset is a dual critique of the principles behind carbon offsetting. First, it criticizes the green washing of large multinationals offering to plant trees in exchange for a small fee for consuming their products. Second, by representing the dominant discourse on individual responsibility in managing the ecological crisis, highlighting the cynicism of the big polluting companies who refuse to see it as a systemic problem. The dematerialized action of planting a tree through an act of consumption is confronted here with the idea of planting a digital tree through direct action, while being immersed in a natural forest full of life. Spectators are invited to stand on a small area in front of the screen where a camera transforms their movements into data that is used to calculate the energy they have expended. When enough energy has been expended through their movement, their virtual seed grows into a tree on the holographic screen. This digital tree then joins the virtual forest, forming a collective work of art. While criticizing the cynical nature of our society, Carbon Offset offers people the creation of a collective virtual forest. This highlights the complex reality that small individual actions can also have a large impact when followed through by all. To conclude Carbon Offset offers the spectators the duality of our technological world as an aesthetic individualistic yet collective experience. This art installation stands on the edge of a techno utopian vision and the dystopian reality of the ecological crisis. **During the Installation:** Visitors of the festival were invited to join the experience by walking into it. Located at the edge of the forest the installation on a 5m tall holographic screen could not be missed. Trees of light were hanging in the air, in between tall trees. In front of the screen, a magic circle (LEDs in the ground) invited people to enter. Upon entering, the installation shifted to its tree generation mode and the experiencer was invited to perform a dance. The overall reaction of the public was overwhelmingly positive, with people from 8 to 70 y old dancing to generate a tree. In total 234 people generated trees, each motion recorded, each tree a unique creation stemming from the motion. **The installation** **A small video of the result** [https://www.instagram.com/p/C6wd87-x\_xY/](https://www.instagram.com/p/C6wd87-x\_xY/) **The location in the forest, the screen was hang in between the trees** ![](https://i.ibb.co/sCWQ1ym/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-47-30.png) **Carrying the screen to the forest** ![](https://i.ibb.co/d5XT17V/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-47-38.png) **In Situ photos** ![](https://i.ibb.co/PgMNW3V/Screenshot-2024-07-31-at-06-47-46.png) **Funding:** Funds from the Nouns grant were used to cover the cost of travel, and materials for creation of the artwork. A small portion was used to record a small documentary on the creation process that will be released by september. . . ## **ANON Binaire GAN by Sam J** [**https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/18**](https://prop.house/0xd7744ae5e63d702e3e9f437943e530fae6c0cb4f/18) **About the Installation:** Anon Binaire is a luxury fashion brand by SamJ Studios and has been integrating a strong blend of technology and analog creative processes into their craftsmanship. Beginning with the conceptualization and initial physical sketches of a.b’s first collection, we created a GAN to learn from the brand’s aesthetic codes of design. Enabling a new model to iterate upon the guidelines of a.b’s style expands the possibility of what can be included within the first collection as we’re creating. Compiling the original analog and GAN sketches into a final arrangement we can choose the most compelling designs to ensure they last through the test of immense digital output in the age of information overload. As we’re curating our favorites we’ve created a test print portfolio of the designs ready to us as a proof of concept for displaying IRL. Within this portfolio we’re also engaging with tactile materials and fragrances, as well. **The Installation:** Anon Binaire is in talks with Digital Couture Summit in Milan to showcase the works in September. This would include a discussion about the works and their significance, as well as a showcase of the quality prints created of the selected works. **Funding**: The Nouns grant funds were used to accommodate travel, print manufacturing, and digital processing costs, and physical installation costs that will manifest as we create the space in September. # Glitch III - Art Residency Summary The third Glitch Art Residency was framed around the theme of **“Alternative Intelligences”**. It ran for two weeks, from October 23rd to November 5th, at the majestic 18th century Chateau Feÿ. This year, the Glitch residency brought together more than **60 people**, mostly artists and technologists working at the intersection of blockchain, AI and VR. The residents were mainly from Europe and North America, with also people from Asia and South America. The underlying rationale of GLITCH is to push the boundaries of crypto art, i.e. to inspire artists and engineers to collaborate in order to explore the use of **blockchain as a medium**, rather than as a mere transaction layer. Ultimately, GLITCH aims to create an **extitutional community**, an artistic collective gathering people from all parts of the world who share the value of collaboration and artistic exploration. All Glitchers are polymaths, open minded and curious people, eager to collaborate on crazy projects and initiatives together. Eventually, Glitch might spawn a **new artistic movement** around the concept of “blockchain as a medium”. This year, our community of artists and technologists has made significant strides in blockchain art, establishing new partnerships, launching innovative projects, and pushing the boundaries of blockchain and crypto art. ![Chateau1](https://cdn.eventastic.fr/media/thumb/opGraphFbThumb/https---cdn.eventastic.fr/upload/presta_files/157226017523.1572260110772.1533.jpg) Below are the key developments that came out of this third edition: * **GLITCH Website**: A new [GLITCH website](https://multimodal.art/glitch/) is underway, aiming to become a central place for collaboration and creation for all Glitchers around the world. * **GLITCH Protocol**: We have developed the [Glitch protocol](https://github.com/GlitchverseProtocol/scaffold-glitch/blob/glitch-protocol/packages/hardhat/contracts/GlitchProtocol.sol) to facilitate artist collaboration by allowing artworks to interact with one another in an asynchronous way through smart contract communication. ![GlitchChat](https://i.ibb.co/QYwhkf9/L1100245.jpg) * **L3 Collaboration**: Multiple startups at Glitch, including Syndicate and Memento, are collaborating on Layer 3s to push the boundaries of on-chain art and storing large amounts of on-chain data. * **GLITCH Catalog**: Efforts to revive the GLITCH catalog, a compilation of glitch art history and works, are moving forward. ![Chateau2](https://i.ibb.co/LzwvbTh/L1100122.jpg) * **Off-Grid AI Manifesto**: We drafted the [Off-grid AI manifesto](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1uXC0pfiONToH9MXmx-YYVMY9vW95r2vklAlP1cAaBOs/edit) that challenges the traditional boundaries of AI Art. * **Mancy Manifesto**: We drafted the [Mancy manifesto](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1qAgGEjztjNrkLxkH8R2X0ezhxc9iuYTMFkmXGP6z6H8/edit#heading=h.tm17gdgmm2fz), introducing a new artistic movement, focusing on the creation of synthetic life through artificial intelligence and blockchain technology. It’s not about bio-Art, where artists use life to create art, it’s about using technology to breath life into something that would be inanimate otherwise. ![FeyArts](https://assets-global.website-files.com/607e9243331d073720dd1461/608153b79811f0d02ea05468_d1f21fc1-bbae-4989-a4e4-3825ac708487.jpg) * **GLITCH @ Fey Arts Festival**: We’re already preparing for an upcoming arts festival, [Fey Arts](https://en.fey-arts.com/), that will exhibit many of the works made by GLITCH. A group of 10 Glitchers will be there showcasing their works at the intersection of art and technology, in a fully natural setting. * **GLITCH on Mars sub-residency**: Led by Gene Kogan and Xander Steenbrugge, this project extends glitch art exploration to Bombay Beach, in California, bringing lots of glitchers to explore Artificial Intelligence in a Martian environment. In addition, planning for Glitch IV is underway!
# GLITCH: Art residency + Prop House + Droposal # # DESCRIPTION ## TLDR; GLITCH is a 2-weeks residency for blockchain artists and engineers embracing the principles of openness and collaboration. We want to set up a Prop House to fund public goods projects and artworks within the GLITCH collective and beyond, where the highest-ranked artworks will be submitted as a Droposal for Nouns. **Total funds requested: 25 ETH** * 10 ETH for the GLITCH residency (see below for more granular budget) * 15 ETH for the Prop House Treasury ![GLITCH Community](https://drive.google.com/uc?id=126XxNSe_cLiVf0vE7tPmRHelc9c28-dg) # GLITCH 3.0 The GLITCH art collective is organising the third edition of its art residency. It’s a 2 weeks long event gathering blockchain / AI artists and engineers, collaborating on the creation of new NFT collections inspired by the notion of CC-0 and Remix. GLITCH is a unique opportunity to build new types of public goods, past editions have led to the creation of several protocols (e.g. REMIX NFT, IMPACT NFT) as well as an open source NFT Token-Bound Licensing standard to embed Creative Commons-like licensing conditions directly into NFTs. ## ART RESIDENCY GLITCH is a two-week focused residency at an 18th century chateau in France. About 40-50 participants will be invited to create, imagine, develop theories, build projects and standards aimed at supporting a new creative ecosystem of open creativity and digital abundance in the blockchain art world. The participants will be a highly curated group of creative and smart individuals actively engaged with NFTs, art, music and AI. The goal is to bring the right people, in the right place, at the right time, and then let the magic happen. At GLITCH, we strive to empower people with ideas, visions, and expertise, while providing space for our attendees to reach deep into their minds and forge better models together. We exist to disrupt the status quo and to manifest positive solutions for society. The outcomes of the residency will be, first and foremost, a tight community of value-aligned people eager to collaborate with one another, new collaborations and synergies in order to shape the world of tomorrow. The residency will also promote a variety of new initiatives about how to promote the value of openness and interoperability in the blockchain art world. Expected deliverables include new NFT protocols that encourage remix and creativity, new NFT protocols geared towards maximization of social and environmental impact, as well as a variety of collaborative exhibitions for NFT artists. All content produced within the residency will be released and made available to all under Creative Commons licenses. We aim to utilize Prop House's pioneering mechanism to fund the creation of artworks and public goods that will be stewarded and/or mentored by the members of the GLITCH collective (artists, engineers, curators, etc). By harnessing Prop House's governance system, we aim to democratize the funding process, foster cross-pollination between the Nouns and GLITCH community, and support projects that contribute significantly to the blockchain art ecosystem. ## GLITCH Prop House GLITCH will create a Prop House round for blockchain artists and engineers to propose artworks and public goods to be created during the GLITCH residency. Artworks can range from NFTs to physical installations; public good initiatives can range from developing open standard or open-source tools, organizing educational events, or supporting initiatives to promote the blockchain art space. Collaboration between artists, technologists, and other stakeholders will be strongly encouraged, leading to the creation of groundbreaking initiatives in the blockchain art world, and beyond. Anyone can submit a proposal for a new artwork or public good and request a maximum of 3 ETH. The GLITCH and Nouns community members assess the proposals and vote to allocate funds to the initiatives that align with GLITCH's mission of openness, collaboration, and innovation. Votes can be cast both by Nouns holders and GLITCH-NFT holders (we will distribute a GLITCH-NFT to all current and previous GLITCH participants, around 90 people total). Nouns and GLITCH-NFTs have an equal weight of one vote. We want Nouns holders to have a say on the selection of the proposed projects so that we can get feedback from outside of the event, to ensure that the projects that are funded are relevant not only to the GLITCH community, but also to other communities across the Nouns and NFT space. ## GLITCH DROPOSAL The successful proposals, if applicable (i.e. to the extent that they include the production of a digital artwork), will be proposed as a Droposal for Nouns. The proceeds from the Droposal will be split equally between Nouns DAO, GLITCH and the creator(s) of the artwork. ![GLITCH people](https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1LWgWO67u5aDXgF7vP5rQej8bkIDPJL1M) # FUNDINGS The full costs of the residency is **$60,000** (inclusive of accommodation and catering for all participants). We are requesting **10 ETH** to cover 1/4 of the costs. The Prop House will fund proposals for up to **3 ETH per proposal**. We need **15 ETH** to support at least 5 proposals. We are requesting a total grant of **25 ETH** in order to implement this proposal: * **10 ETH**: support of the GLITCH residency * **15 ETH**: Prop House treasury # TEAM The GLITCH collective is stewarded by [Primavera De Filippi](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Primavera_De_Filippi), [Will Papper](https://www.linkedin.com/in/wpapper/), [Isaac Patka](https://www.linkedin.com/in/isaac-patka-417b4328/) and many other amazing blockchain artists and engineers !
