Data speaks loud - Since Apr 24th:
- 3 "artificial" bids for 2.8eth
- 24 no bids aka burned nouns
So, eth inflow of 8,4eth and no new DAO members in 27 days.
On an avg of 0.5eth x 27 bids, with no reserve we would have 13.5eth inflow.
So results are a minimum net lost of 5.1eth of treasury inflow + no new members and decreased participation in DAO + consolidation of current voting blocks aka status quo stalemate aka easier collusion/corruption.
For those who voted for reserve price and for those now voting against. Why? Is this situation good for financial sustainability and "make nouns great again"? Pls change my mind.

community-weighted-voting-and-proof-of-personhoodHumans are humans… We all see where prediction markets are heading, so yeah, I agree Futarchy is entering utopian territory at this point.
On anonymous voting, I agree too. There’s a reason most modern democratic constitutions protect secret ballots as a core principle.
On Proof of Personhood: what’s the right balance between UX simplicity, privacy, and actual human-vs-agent guarantees? I like Human Passport, already used by Giveth, TheDAO. Feels lightweight while still useful. Curious if anyone has better alternatives though.
On the first two questions:
1. I don’t think “tyranny of the majority” becomes an issue in a community-weighted voting system. Wallets can still hold multiple Nouns = multiple votes. But right now, if I’m supported by 20 nouners holding 2 Nouns each, but opposed by 2 nouners holding 25 Nouns each, it feels weird to say “the DAO rejected the prop”.
Now imagine a system where 5 voters gives a x1.5 multiplier, 10 voters x2, and so on. That could counterbalance the plutocratic degeneration of the DAO without going full 1 person = 1 vote, which is really the only setup where an actual “tyranny of the majority” scenario emerges.
2. It’s important to prevent a single person from managing multiple wallets, distributing their Nouns across them, and effectively gaming the community-weighted voting mechanism. So you need 1 human = 1 wallet.

# Community-weighted Voting and Proof of Personhood
In order to make the Nouns DAO experiment thrive in terms of decentralised governance, empowering its core values - culture and community - hence making "nouns great again", with a long-term financial sustainability vision, it would be great to discuss these 2 intertwined topics:
1. A voting system that is inspired by the Gitcoin's quadratic funding, so the rationale is still 1 noun = 1 vote, but more nouners vote for a prop the better. That's why "community-weighted voting".
I won't dig deeper on formulas or similar, I'd like first to openly dicuss on how to put this in practice.
The DAO doesn't want to go against the fact that a single wallet (or person) wants to accumulated many nouns, neither want to diluite treasury value or something similar. So we need to think about the right balance between a fairly decentralised governance and keeping a proper financial incentive.
2. Implementation of a frontier system that can prove 1 wallet = 1 person (aligned with the original DAO ethos of 1 noun = 1 vote) but with a full preservation of privacy and anonimity too.

Which call are you talking about? Not at Nouncil... I, we, love Nouns culture. I did a first presentation on Nouns governance 3 years ago at Urbe talks. I was even wearing nounish pin at the EU Commission last year 😅
Btw, let me share few points on value here:

Hi Nadiecito, thanks for raising this for transparency, even though it’s not related to the topic.
I was the project manager for the Animal Social Club NFT campaign. The digital artworks paired with the NFTs were coordinated through Eleonora Brizi, the art director, who onboarded you together with other artists.
I’m a bit surprised you didn’t get any info from Eleonora, as this was already addressed with her last year, but I’m happy to tell you more.
The “success fee” for the NFT campaign's contributors was to be calculated on June 30, 2025, based on funds raised. Since the campaign never kickoff, no funds were raised and therefore no success fees were generated.
For artists, however, is different. As communicated to Eleonora, even if the signed agreements linked artwork compensation to the success of the campaign, we felt it was fair to propose a new compensation model after the June 30, 2025 deadline, given that the artworks remain as perks of the NFTs.
Artist compensation is now structured proportionally to the number of NFT memberships minted and sold, on an open-ended basis. In your case, you can verify on-chain that only one Elephant NFT - out of 9000 - has been minted so far.
