mono and lex are two of the most nounish builders we’ve ever seen. their dedication to nouns, the latam community, and everything noun-related is unmatched. they’ve been present everywhere, representing nouns. while this proposal might seem like a lot, i truly believe the benefits it will bring will be nothing short of unprecedented. godspeed and i hope this proposal passes. +1 > Nouns is lucky to have Mono and Lex. Thanks to their efforts, Nouns is known across LATAM by thousands people in the best way possible. Congrats on all the success so far.
+1 > my reasons for voting against remain the same. NNS as a protocol has very little adoption and usage. the previous prop delivered little against that goal. doesn’t warrant another $400k investment imo.
+1 > love what you do leo, and the work you've done so far (and love chris)... but i'm left wondering; are we just gonna fund one of these every few months? Seems like 'yes' based on your update.. And if so, I think they need to have more impact somehow... ~40k per doc with no real distribution route seems tough. would love to see the first two documentaries get distributed and watched a bit more before we fund more. > > +1 > > > I watched, and enjoyed, the Non-Fungible Aotearoa docu, and Chris Carella is a wonderful human, but i also struggle to see why Nouns should fund this in current form/packaging/plans/goals etc. > > +1 > > > I would love to see a story about Chris, but I'm a definite No as long as the name of the film sounds like it's a joke about bad decisions ripped from a 14 year old CollegeHumor video: https://youtu.be/eExfV_xKaiM?si=0fpm5DHMpDh_YJC7&t=89 > > > > The backlash from ripping off the name of that movie specifically for something like this would not only damage the film's distribution, but also Chris's reputation and possibly that of Nouns. Definitely one of those "Did NOBODY try to stop this?" moments. Definitely the biggest issue- I'd likely be an abstain without it. > > > > To make it a Yes, I'd like to see more in the way of plans for the film itself, especially after it's finished- what are the plans for distribution? If this is a project just for people already within the Nouns ecosystem I'm not strictly speaking against that, but "aim to bring awareness to Nouns and inspire people to join us" is a bit vague. Would like to see some kind of tangible plan here, especially given the limited reach of the Benbodhi doc so far. > > > > The bulk of this prop so far is about Chris, and while he's great, it doesn't really give us much to go on in terms of actually voting. > > +1 > > > https://youtu.be/3JjblckvKZI?si=fhXExwG4Rq5E93FG What’s going to be the difference? Are we just producing a similar product with a new crew producing? No hate but 119 views don't signal the demand for a second coming
+1 > There are a lot of activations that sounds like there's some magic to cultivate and bring into the world - especially the asymmetric surf boards! > > I could see that being a product category that we could own and shape further. > > The artwork would need to be closer to something like this: > > ![QmXaCRwq9B21n4dLj3GHDLA6Khyu2ynRpVHi2heJdRRitC](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJYdGtM-kl.jpg) > > and not the PFPs - more bespoke, weird and fun. > > Very rough counter proposal would be to: > - Strip it down to the creation of the surfboards > - 1-2 artists to create the bespoke artwork > - make it a surf x art x crypto story > - host an artist reception with great food and music > - auction 3 of the boards, donate to 1-2 of the charitable activities you planned > - use the event as your campaign production set > - sell off the remaining surfboards with the campaign you produced at the event > - do the PR work mentioned and consider booking in some advertorials too > > I really think there's something with the asymmetrical surfboards that is spot on for ⌐◨-◨ !! > > I'm voting AGAINST because I think there's too much being aimed at at the same time, and I'd prefer to see a very sharp proposal doing 1 thing aiming at highest impact. > > If this proposal doesn't pass and you're interested in working on a revised proposal, specifically focusing on the surfboards, I'd be open to support you with that (and bringing it to life).
+1 > Not a fan of teams working on things that will never be completed because it changes every season (problem 1), especially when everyone has a different entry point to Nouns. I'd hope we never have a dull standardized onboarding process. And it seems premature to layer in new tech to the apparatus that isn't natively integrated with our governance structure (problem 2 + 3) when prop 662 has just passed a couple days ago.
+1 > This is fun in a vacuum but most nouns just look really bad with them. The rat is probably one of the heads it looks best on, but a selective best case is not a compelling reason to add a trait when the fail cases are abundant (click playground testing link to see more).
+1 > I think this has a decent shot at thrusting Nouns into new cultural circles. And while thats by no means a certainty, at this funding ask, im For giving Facu the runway to execute on an idea he's been crafting in his head for a long time. > > +1 > > > I highly admire Facu's work, and he has been dedicated to nouns for a long time now. Appreciate the team taking previous comments into consideration and revising the prop. I believe the DAO has a lot to gain from a different perspective/language and also hopefully reaching new people. This is a definitely yes for me. +1 > I love your work, and I'm confident that the website and the physical version will be amazing. Good luck!
+1 > After ready the prop a couple times and clicking into the propdate from last season, it doesn't make me very excited. There's no tie back to Nouns and from what I've seen, the last prop has been executed like any other sponsorship - just scrolling through the propdate I wouldn't be able to tell if this was funded by Nouns or Bayer. > > Here's an example - imo all of the "Funds" section read alike: > "Funds from the Nouns grant were used to cover the cost of travel, accommodation, and materials for creation of the artwork." > > More specific cornerstone feedback: > - The lack of overlap between GLITCH <> ⌐◨-◨ make it a very transactional sponsorship. > - The "Why Nouns?" section feels forced and doesn't seem to identify any existing synergies that could be leveraged to do greater, weirder things beyond Nouns ability to fund 60ETH of sponsorship. > - "Future involvement with Nouns:" after the 60ETH or during this phase? Why hasn't this happened already? the whole point of funding things is to add more people to the ⌐◨-◨ movement or at least make them aware of Nouns. > - Why ETH when all expenses are in USDC/fiat? > - This proposal reads a bit like Nouns is the first stop and if it's defeated, you'll move on to the next. Which makes sense, but also does not help make it compelling to support.
+1 > if this prop doesn’t pass i would focus on what is needed to keep the tabletop community going (i imagine the events and tournaments portion is what’s critical?) and see if there’s a version of this that could work without the big software / admin costs. i’m supportive of onchain elos and stuff but what’s more important to me is that there’s growing and sustaining community that are playing and competing even if some of the software stuff is sub optimal. if the community grows and the overlap of community with existing nouns fan base grows and we feel good about nouns sponsoring all of this then i’d imagine there’d be more appetite by the community to fund the platform at a larger scale as well > > +1 > > > I appreciate ISpeakNerd taking in feedback from his first proposal and making significant changes to this current proposal. I think its important that Nouns continues to fund subcultures that exist even without Nouns financial support, allowing Nouns to be a complimentary pairing vs just a source of funding. Also, while I wasn't able to play the camel game at Nouns Town, it was great seeing the table have a constant rotation of players. > > +1 > > > https://warpcast.com/krel/0x5c789b1a +1 > https://warpcast.com/krel/0x5c789b1a +1 > I wanted to signal my support of this project and team. I played Brennen’s game at Nouns Town and thought it was fantastic. I also think that as more IRL tabletop gamers move online (massive growth in online playing since the pandemic imo) this is an exciting way to bring a whole new wave of people into the Nounish community, through something they already understand and love. If I had a vote, they would definitely get it.
+1 > My main fear is that this both increase fatigue and decrease participation, which is why im against at this moment in time. > > I do really love the way wiz executes to an MVP-level on an idea before putting it forward for the dao to vote, so major praise there. > > I do think this idea can have legs if/when the dao truly runs into capital allocation efficiency roadblocks, but imo where are not close to being there yet. Also, my personal take on AI projects is that, since the LLM industry moves fwd so fast, its almost never worth doing anything preemptively. +1 > I wanna see you win Wiz but these skeletal MVPs with huge budgets and unclear roadmaps are not the move
+1 > +1 to the comment that a nounish recording studio feels like the north star holy grail for nouns x music and we shouldn't leapfrog right there. > > skeptical that this is a "need" in order to make good music. Just look at soundcloud for the thousands of people making a name for themselves from their laptop with a cracked version of ableton +1 > I'd love to see Nouns going deeper into the music industry, and I feel this team is optimally positioned to pioneer that work. However, I think this iteration is way too broad. > > As others pointed out, start with something smaller, find good traction, and take it from there. > > Pls keep iterating team! +1 > I’m personally very interested and passionate about ⌐◨-◨ pioneer the music industry with aligned community members. It also happens to be in my line of work to develop and evaluate these type of concepts. I have carefully assessed the potency of the concept and came to the conclusion that this proposal doesn’t address the key ingredients enough to make the impact we’d all like to see and therefor I’m voting against for now. > > Some of the key items to consider: > > RB Music Academy has been put to rest 5 years ago. > Converse Rubber Tracks has significantly wound down too. > > There are good reasons to it which are worth surfacing and taking into consideration. It’s not because they didn’t mint their work on chain. What are the learnings that you can leverage to do it better because you’re smaller, leaner (although the budget doesn’t suggest this) and leaning forwards? > > All to say that their success stories remain corner stones in the music industry. But not because they branded a studio and recorded music, but because they understood content and ran hybrid productions: > 1. Music production (20%) > 2. Content production (80%) > And, they had distribution to push these stories out into the world. > > This proposal only covers #1 and #2 only on the surface level (ref budget line items + listed opportunities), with distribution being limited to small platforms that aren’t native to music as such. Which inherently isn’t an issue per-se, but specifically for music it excludes the productions from organic discoverability which is the rabbit hole music lovers like to intentionally fall into. No rabbit hole = not a lot of lovers who can find you = low impact. > > Also, if you ask consumers and browse through the leading music platform trend reports of the last couple years on consumer behavior: if you’re not on YouTube, you don’t exist. > > I’d love to see The Park return with a refined proposal that focuses on the following:
 > 1) Further cultivating Sessions @ The Park
 > 2) Build out their content production
 > 3) For however much runway the next iteration allows, a media partnership to cover the story and build out distribution > 4) further fostering the community around their movement > > I see the whole thing about "owning" or "having" a studio more of a North Star vision and not part of this phase. For now, it's worth exploring the creative takes on "what does it look like when ⌐◨-◨ / The Park takes over a studio for a week(end)?". To then grow from take-overs, to pop-ups into owning. > > With 4 main strategic areas:
 > 1) Authenticate - which you already do with your legacy and work with The Park. Double down. Do more of that. > 2) Lead - innovate and pioneer in HOW and WHAT you do. You're already doing a lot, but it's very binary and limiting the visibility of the good stuff you make. > 3) Grow - build out distribution and community. Hack growth. More. > 4) Amplify - built out distribution with partners to go big and capitalize on potential momentum peaks, when these moments happen. > > Thank you for bringing this proposal forward! If it doesn't pass, I hope to see a revised version in the future ⌐◨-◨
+1 > Like this idea but the noggles reads poorly at small (pfp) sizes. Also think the mouth pattern could use some work. > > Thanks for proposing Nadie, really enjoy seeing your work on warpcast. +1 > +1 > > > Like this idea but the noggles reads poorly at small (pfp) sizes. godspeed +1 > same feedback as the last proposal! excited for this +1 > Having followed David's incredible career as fans, we can confidently say that few are as well-suited as David to lead this charge and opportunity for Nouns. David’s experience in building brands, IP and relationships over the years makes him an invaluable asset to Nouns and would benefit future projects across the DAO. +1 > I think David has the market knowledge, clout, and Nouns receipts to make it happen. Know there have been questions about what David has said about his work in the past but I think he's been very proactive and transparent afaik about those days and how he got plugged in. He's been in the details. I've learned more about the niche business of plush from a pro. Can't beat that :) > > Looking forward to seeing this level of detail over the next year+ on propdates and on /nouns, les geddit.
## Mucho Update ### Going Well - **The Christmas Project:** We're excited to announce **THE CHRISTMAS PROJECT** for December 25th. Over **10,000 orphans** in the Dominican Republic will receive a gift. This ambitious activation has been in planning for 3 months and is now ready for execution! - **Nounish Trail Running Race:** We're organizing a **Nounsih IRL Trail Running Race** where entry is based on donating **10kg+ of clothing**. We’re partnering with various brands, companies, and institutions to gather tons of clothing to donate to those in need. Non-racers can also donate at collection centers across the city. - **Social Media Growth:** Our socials are steadily climbing. We've been extremely consistent in posting videos, leading to significant improvements in our formats. Recently, a video went viral, reaching **10M+ views** and attracting attention from **@Jompeame**, resulting in a successful fundraiser of **20,000+ USD** for the vendor we featured! - **Paid Sponsorships:** We have successfully secured several paid sponsorships that have proven to be very worthwhile for our clients, **generating significant engagement and visibility**. - **International Engagement:** We traveled to **Cancun** to record videos, generating substantial views and allowing us to reach new audiences through their culture. Additionally, we connected with **Universidad Anáhuac México**, which is eager to collaborate with us for workshops and content creation. - **Collaboration with Abriendo El Podcast:** We’ve joined forces with "Abriendo El Podcast," the largest Spanish-speaking baseball podcast. Revenue from their live event with players like Juan Soto will support young aspiring baseball players in the Dominican Republic. Thanks to this collaboration, we will be able to cut a large chunk of the costs, therefore helping more people. ### Not Going Well - **YouTube Long Formats:** We’ve put YouTube long formats on hold to focus on **quality over quantity**. This shift allows us to dedicate more time to impactful activations and improving our short-form content on other social media platforms. Producing fewer, more impactful videos—such as one about donating clothing to 100 orphanages rather than just one—is more worthwhile. Regarding sustainability, Instagram and TikTok partnerships pay more than YouTube, helping us cover costs and use our Nouns funds more slowly. - **Chagas Documentary:** Our collaboration with Harvard and Brigham Women's Hospital for the Chagas documentary has been postponed due to the conflictive political climate in Bolivia. ### Lessons Learned - **Attention and Donations:** Our platform can generate significant attention and raise **20,000 USD** for a cause. - **Consistency and Quality:** Consistency and quality have proven to be more effective than other formats. - **Revenue and Sustainability:** Instagram and TikTok paid partnerships allow us to generate revenue, use Nouns funds more slowly, and grow in a more sustainable fashion with better decision-making. ### Priorities - **Execute THE CHRISTMAS PROJECT:** Successfully implement our Christmas Project to ensure all orphans in the Dominican Republic receive a gift. - **Organize the Trail Running Race:** Maximize clothing donations and community involvement through this event. - **Maintain Consistency and Quality:** Keep up the high standards in content production and ensure ongoing consistency across all platforms. - **Optimize Short-Form Content:** Continue refining and improving short-form content across social media platforms. - **Leverage Revenue Streams:** Use revenue from Instagram and TikTok partnerships to support sustainability and reduce reliance on Nouns funds. love you all, necfas
godspeed gami. pirate away. can't wait to see what happens with this experiment. +1 > I'm totally with you on the thesis -- I agree that streaming has made it such that the real money in music is in building fandom and selling merch, concert tickets, etc. Sell to the superfans, and let the music free so you can build as big of an audience as possible. Commoditize the compliment and people need to re-write their brains to understand that in 2024 the music is actually the compliment. > > So... I'm with you on the idea but I'm not sure I understand the pirate part. It doesn't feel like you're actually pirating anything or offering the music for free if you're just linking a spotify uri. I don't know why I would mint a spotify uri, even if I were a super fan. Maybe there's a way to create a friendtech style bonding curve market to "prove" and profit on how early you are to a specific track. But I feel like some variation of that idea has surely been tried and that idea alone isn't really sticky enough. Hmm. tough problem. But I like the general direction, I like funding software, and I like funding folks who have been in the community and are great at what they do. > > So for the cheap price of 13,000,000 st✧ this is a yes from me.
+1 > I love TCGs (big magic nerd) but this proposition seems a little half-assed to me. The card art and mechanics comes across as random/rushed, and the prop does not make a strong case for why Nouns should fund it. > > I think the Ace project is pretty exciting though, and something i would be happy to support if there was just a tad more heart and thought behind the partnership.
candidly, while i appreciate the hard work and dedication from voadz and nero, i was left with unanswered questions about what success looks like in this proposal. what is the goal of this proposal, and how is success defined and measured? this proposal doesn’t provide enough information on the demand and scale of what has been accomplished so far. i genuinely admire the designs, the art, and all the efforts you’ve put in, but right now, it just doesn’t feel like a "hell yes" to me. in the last proposal, some voters pointed out that further funding would require a solid plan for sustainability. this proposal doesn’t mention sustainability at all, and it lacks a detailed strategy for achieving a larger-scale impact and distribution to justify continued funding at this level. given the current scope and the lack of tangible, quantifiable metrics for success, i’m not convinced that the proposed funding aligns with the anticipated value.
+1 > Hey Yasin, I appreciate the new details about this proposal. While I believe everyone should pursue their creative and experimenting self, I don't think it makes sense to fund this as is: a risk-free experiment with no attachments might end up as a sponsored new hobby with no expectations of success. I'd happily support a proposal with clear expectations and evidence that this could be an actual project.
i do! and yes, meant by dedicated space in a place where there's a dedicated community. this iteration of an irl prop is something i'm very curious to see the results of. +1 > > irl remains largely unexplored for us > > Would you consider any of these irl attempts? > - nouns deli > - nouns coffee > - nouns otg > - nouns shelter > - nouns town > - nouns @ fwb fest > - nouns play corner > - nouns at edcon toyko > - nouns at variety bash > - nouns smash bros > - nouns x pizza dao > > A dedicated space is different, but I think it's a stretch to say we haven't tried irl. Imo variations of irl are the most commonly funded type of proposal > > +1 > > > i feel that this prop offers a valuable opportunity to test an irl format that we haven’t fully explored before. > > > > 1. new territory for irl: our experience with media and code has proven successful, but irl remains largely unexplored for us. this prop gives us a chance to test a new format and gather data on how irl initiatives perform. if this experiment doesn’t work out, we’ll have important information to rethink our approach to irl projects. > > 2. proven team: the proposal is from a long-term, proven team that has contributed successfully in the past. this gives me confidence that the experiment will be rigorously tested and managed effectively. > > 3. data-driven insights: if the experiment in rio doesn’t yield the expected results, it will provide crucial data on irl strategies, helping us make more informed decisions for future projects. > > 4. alignment with nouns values: the prop aligns with our values by focusing on community impact and engagement. > > > > while i lean towards conservatively managing spending, the potential benefits and the valuable data we could gain from this experiment make it a worthwhile investment. it’s a strategic move to explore untested areas and gain insights for future initiatives.
i feel that this prop offers a valuable opportunity to test an irl format that we haven’t fully explored before. 1. new territory for irl: our experience with media and code has proven successful, but irl remains largely unexplored for us. this prop gives us a chance to test a new format and gather data on how irl initiatives perform. if this experiment doesn’t work out, we’ll have important information to rethink our approach to irl projects. 2. proven team: the proposal is from a long-term, proven team that has contributed successfully in the past. this gives me confidence that the experiment will be rigorously tested and managed effectively. 3. data-driven insights: if the experiment in rio doesn’t yield the expected results, it will provide crucial data on irl strategies, helping us make more informed decisions for future projects. 4. alignment with nouns values: the prop aligns with our values by focusing on community impact and engagement. while i lean towards conservatively managing spending, the potential benefits and the valuable data we could gain from this experiment make it a worthwhile investment. it’s a strategic move to explore untested areas and gain insights for future initiatives.
+1 > I appreciate the contribution, and this isn't a vote against Bix! But like others have said, I don't quite agree with this compensation model. +1 > Thanks for bringing your voice to nouns, bix +1 > There's a long list of people whom I consider to be invaluable members of nouns, bixbite among them. Should everyone on that list get a noun? It just feels a bit weird to me that you have to wait your turn to get "tapped" by someone who will put you up for nomination. Maybe it should stop happening all together. > > Sorry Bixbite, I really do appreciate everything you do, but I'm started to shift towards not wanting to give away nouns anymore. It feels too random. I think something like annually celebrating the community and having a prop house style vote where the top x folks win a noun would feel a bit better to me.
+1 > There are elements here i like and would support but overall this prop is too messy and unprofessional for me to feel ok about. > > Looking forward to a revised and improved version well ahead of the 2025 event. Thank you! +1 > This proposal feels rushed.
+1 > just don't love this color combo and don't think it will go well with most noun heads +1 > for adding more noggles, but not necessarily these. i think the other multi-colored noggles work well because the colors complement each other, green-blue, yellow-orange, pink-purple, but the orange-gray are too contrasting for my personal liking.
+1 > love the passion and commitment from the nounspace team but personally i find it hard to justify investing another $250k into a farcaster client that i don't see much nouns ppl using. there's just not enough usage evidence for us to double down here imo. i'm sorry!
+1 > Similar, not sure we need to spend money on making auction "better" we need projects that bring more eyes to the auction. Also, I think nouns.camp could probably just pick up any future updates to auction. > > +1 > > > I would love to see this high quality group of people building on Nouns and appreciate the effort to come up with a novel product/proposal, but I can't reconcile how this cost is a justifiable spend for the outcome proposed. > > I just don't see how it moves any particular needle by any significant amount. > > And specifically I don't believe the difficulty of bidding issue (if it really is one) is a really a driver of prices when zooming out even a tiny bit. > > Thanks to the team for putting it forward.
