# Nouns Team Korea - Pro Sailing Team

## TL;DR
In the beginning, Nouns community used to dream about competing with Red Bull, Nike, going viral globally, and collaborating with stars like Mr. Beast. Here, we propose an ambitious plan that includes establishing a professional sports team, collaborating with reputable eyewear brand, a football star, and volunteer. We propose to establish a professional sailing team and dispatch 13 sailors-ambassadors to the prestigious Rolex TP52 Super Series Regattas. Beyond the competitive aspect of sailing, we are going to connect and volunteer for environmental organizations in the Mediterranean Sea.
- The team will be featured on Rolex social channels alongside videos covering major events in tennis, motorsport, equestrianism, and many others.
- We will collaborate with Gentle Monster to manufacture Noggles that will be distributed through their global network.
- We will exchange t-shirts with Tottenham Hotspur F.C. forward Son Heung-min.
## Rolex TP52 Super Series
The Rolex TP52 Super Series is one of the major sailing events that attracts professional athletes, Olympic sailors, and big brands. Rolex regularly posts videos about professional sporting events, including the TP52 series. Sailing has a rich history, an international community, a conscious commitment to the public good, and caring for the younger generation. The sailing community is diverse and filled with builders, entrepreneurs, philanthropists, environmental activists, adventurers, and responsible individuals.

# Why Sailing Team?
You might think that sailing is extremely far from Noun's culture, but in fact, it is incredibly close. Sailors are individuals who have combined their passion with the public good for hundreds of years. They are the builders who continuously innovate the sport of yachting and the seamanship industry, with a focus on preserving the environment and offsetting carbon footprints. They donate food to the community. They clean seas and beaches. Also, a lot of effort is dedicated to working with the younger generation, educating children to be responsible, and fostering care for nature.
I believe that nounish and sailing cultures can amplify each other and collaborate to fund non-profits and environmental protection organizations, educate children, and volunteer to clean seas.
## Nouns Team Korea x Gentle Monster
Since season one, it has been evident that Red Noggles is among the most valuable assets invented by NounsDAO. It serves as a symbol that people can easily recognize, interact with, and remember. Despite many versions of noggles available today, it remains worthwhile to create one that exudes luxury, fancy, and practical design.
Nouns Team Korea is in an excellent position to facilitate collaboration with Gentle Monster, which intends to expand into sports eyewear. Gentle Monster is a fast-rising eyewear brand, known for its popularity among celebrities. While this collaboration won't happen overnight, leveraging our sailing team's participation in prestigious events like the Rolex regatta, we can propose advertising opportunities during these events that Gentle Monster won't be able to refuse.
## Nouns Team Korea x Korean Soccer team
Nouns Team Korea will also represent Korea, fostering a sense of shared identity and pride among Korean athletes and fans alike. This common bond will lead to mutual support and camaraderie between the Korean Sailing team and other national teams, such as the Korean soccer team. Such cross-sport promotions are common among Korean athletes, as we all share a sense of identity and national pride. We will reach out to Son Heung-min and seize the opportunity to meet with him, sharing our future endeavors in the international sailing arena and promoting Nouns as sponsors who enable us to compete at the highest level.

## 2025 - Nounish Netflix show featuring sailors and celebrities
We understand that this is a very large and expensive project. However, we are also planning to work on an impactful way to tell the story of the internet community that supports public good, artists, and passionate individuals such as the Korean sailing team. More people should know about Nouns, and one of the best ways to achieve this is by producing a Netflix show. During the 2024 sailing season, we will work to expand our network and produce the first draft of a Netflix travel program featuring guest celebrities, competitive sailing, Nounish activities such as volunteering, and environmental protection. We can promise that the first draft of the travel program will reach the desks of Netflix's licensed agents and producers. If successful, we can find additional sponsors in Korea to produce the show next sailing season.
In 2021, we included a sailing scene in the Korean Netflix drama "Remarriage and Desires," where you can see Five and MrJukenson taking the helm of one of the yachts.

After one year of the sailing campaign, we can assess the team's accomplishments and decide whether to continue our journey or sell the boat, returning the funds to NounsDAO.

## Description
When preparing for Prop-173 Sail Nouns NFT.NYC, I had a formal agreement for $2.5k with a local drone operator to shoot throughout the day in the harbor. On the other hand, I did not want to have any surplus and used all additional funds from the media budget, as well as unexpected expenses, to purchase the best sails, commission artworks for sails/merch, and order extra merchandise such as flags. However, a week before the event, when all the money had already been spent, the drone operator notified me that he was unable to obtain a permit to fly a drone in the area. Even though all the money had already been spent, I decided to rent two helicopter rides and additional camera crew to capture aerial photos and videos.
After the event, I believed that a retro fund proposal would bring additional problems when some DAO members were still hopeful to avoid a fork. So, my plan was to cover the extra expenses myself or include it into a new sailing project. The continuation of the sailing project was planned from the beginning and it was another reason why I bought expensive racing sails for prop173. However, upon returning home, I had to address unexpected issues and missed the opportunity to submit a new sailing proposal.

- When working with community on sail designs we ended up with more expensive colorful designs and over budget of $15k.
- Other extra expenses included charter for a big boat and additional merch such as flags.

I apologize for not providing updates on this proposal. Last year, I was unable to order t-shirts on time and later became occupied with work. Additionally, I had to live outside of Seoul, which made it challenging to connect with the community frequently. Now that I'm back in Seoul, I plan to host one brunch and two running events every month. In fact, I've already organized a brunch and two running events in January!
The new date for the Nouns stamp collection campaign is in March!
I met with the t-shirt manufacturer, and we've selected colors for the Nouns t-shirts.

These days, I believe that Nouns is not meant to fund everyone and everything but to support cases of public good that could encourage more web3 enthusiasts to give back to the public and change the perception of web3 in the general public.
Recently, I have come to the conclusion that the mission of Nouns is to demonstrate to the web3 community that giving back and funding public goods is a responsibility and simply the right thing to do.
Funding a school in Uganda is one such case; perhaps Nouns will be able to fund only one school, however there is hope that more crypto companies will follow the movement and fund more schools around the world.
I agreed to be on the multi-sig and offer advice because I believe this proposal is a good example of public good.

Thank you to The Pixel Shop for putting together a proposal and spending time discussing the idea. I agree that, at some point, there should be nouns-inspired games. However, I am not convinced that the gameplay presented here, and the team, are the right choices.
Here are detailed reasons why I vote against:
1) The gameplay is simple and lacks uniqueness. Run and gun games are over-saturated market and have limited story depth.
2) It appears that The Pixel Shop already has several ongoing projects, which, in my opinion, would prevent you from dedicating full time to the nouns-inspired game.
3) I believe the DAO will be able to fund only one or two $600k games. Before committing to such funding, it would be wiser to commission 10 indie games with budgets of $10-20K each to explore different gameplays and development teams. It would be best to start an initiative that resembles the Nouns Stories (prop180), where the DAO commissions a series of cost-effective experiments and then would select one idea, that fits best the nouns, for future funding.

NounsDAO in Korea, Sailing PR campaign is complete. The spinnakers from the event were initially given to the Korean teams. However, two teams decided to send their spinnakers to teams in Argentina and Greece. The photos and videos of teams sailing with Nouns spinnakers will be posted on social media from time to time.

In my opinion, it makes sense to fund this great team that invests their time in building a lot of useful tools. It is a fair point that not all funded tools stick and are used continuously by the DAO; however, I believe we collectively learn from these ideas. One such example is Nouns.camp, where the team incorporated the best practices from previous government clients and user experiences.
I hope Propdates team succeeds in solving the listed problems and challenges.

I agree that $160,000 was a significant amount of money. Most of the funds were used to purchase 14 sails, print logos, and rent boats. J24 sailboats is most popular sailboat with including many yacht clubs in US. We still have sails and can use these sails to promote nouns and build relations with teams and yacht clubs. Yachting is different from skateboarding and esports. It is less viral but each club has 500+ members and sailing programs for various age groups. I hope someday we can establish connections with numerous yacht clubs and unite them for the sustainability cause for example distributing glasses made from recycled plastic.
The photos from prop102 and 173 are currently circulating on social media, and I have sent two of the sails from 102 to teams in Argentina and Greece.
For prop173, I exceeded the budget by $20,000 because I had to purchase racing sails in the US last minute due to artwork delays and cancelation from the drone photographer.
Actually, many were excited about the sailing event but couldn't visit New York. I reserved a large boat for 70 people and seven smaller boats for 30 people. Some individuals who registered couldn't attend for personal reasons for example artmatr and electric capital. In the group photo, you'll see 30 people, but many were observing from the sidelines, including members from the Manhattan Yacht Club.
I think merch from prop173 was great. I didn't refuse anyone who asked for merchandise and sent them before or after the event. I hope that if this proposal passes, more people will join us next year. It is valuable to meet at least once a year. I am confident in my ability to organize a yacht events only, so I am offering my services.
Regarding next year, I have minimized expenses. There will be no photo/video shoots, just a gathering.

I believe that Droposals are a great formula for both funding public goods and proliferation of nouns.
It makes sense to allocate a significant budget to the first Droposal to ensure its quality and success. Perhaps in the future, the funding size and formula can be optimized, with some funding going directly to the organization, and the proceeds from minting being split four ways between nouns, Agora, the production team, and the organization.
The story of Rise of Blus unfolds in the sky city too. I wonder if the Line team would consider developing a story in an underwater or deep space world instead. Overall, I'm very excited to see more high-quality animations.

It is an ambitious project with many nounish structures. I googled the location, and it looks like a fun area with a lot of sports activities. IMO nouns and sports is a great match. The project looks very interesting to me.
I respect Noun 74; I had a few chances to chat with him in the past year. I can say he is a nouns maxi, didn't event think to fork, and always proliferating nouns at conferences in Asia.

I am convinced that awarding Bob Burnquist a noun is a no-brainer, as he is already contributing to making Nouns a pop culture brand. Nouns is a new currency, and this could be a promising start to popularize the phrase “I will work/hack for nouns,” similar to how people used to say, “I will work for Bitcoin.”
Nouns is in the post fork price discovery, after a continuous artificial floor. The compensation here might be very well within the previous examples. Also I don't think that any of the recipients are going fork or sell their nouns in near future.

If I had to pick one word to describe NounsDAO, it'd be "forever." It's amazing to design a protocol that can stand the test of time. In my view, the 'fork' and 'burn' are essential features towards building a perfect DAO that can be played for many years by different generations of nouners without the need for supervision.
I believe the problem isn't a lack of leadership or a shortage of "hell yes" projects. After all, Nouns is a decentralized autonomous organization. IMO if people hadn't tried to control and inflate auction prices, no one would have financially overextended themselves, and everyone could have enjoyed the version 1 game.
Now, the DAO is in a situation where it must choose whether to spend a big portion of its treasury or continue losing money to arbitrage. Also I believe it is inevitable that the treasury will dip below 1000 ETH someday, and auction prices will fall below 10 ETH. However, in the grand picture of things, neither auction prices nor treasury size should be important if nouners use treasury to sponsor projects close to their hearts or build their own nounish projects. The burn mechanism makes it clear that nouners should use the treasury. I wish more nouners did build something nounish in the last two years. For example, projects such as "Free Glasses for Children," "PropHouse," "Nouns Esports," "Nouns Running Club," "Skate Parks," "Global Pizza Party," and others underscore the power of collective effort, something that might be financially and practically daunting for a single person.
The real essence of nouns isn't about flipping NFTs. It's about being a part of the community as a "nouner" and having access to the treasury. If you have an idea and join Nouns, you can tap into a pool of talented nouners. You won't need to find the first user for your project; you already have fans all around the world. There are many other benefits and perks in Nouns.

This will help the DAO to refill the treasury and also attract new Nouners who appreciate the art, culture, and value of NounsDAO.

# Description
I, fiveoceans, have enjoyed the art of sailing for over a decade. Recently, I've seamlessly combined my passion for sailing with my deep affection for Nouns, crafting sailing events in both Seoul and New York, with the generous support of Props 102 and 173. Sailing, often hailed as one of the most esteemed sports, never fails to attract the attention of the media, guests, and local residents alike.
In much the same way that Nouns effortlessly align with cultures centered around skateboarding and running, they also harmonize beautifully with sailing culture. While sailing may be less popular or perceived as more challenging to engage in, it stands as one of the most inclusive sports, welcoming individuals of all ages, backgrounds, and walks of life.
I am eager to extend my love for sailing to the Nouns community by curating a series of sailing events throughout 2024. These gatherings will provide a splendid opportunity to gather and share our ideas about future of NounsDAO.
# Why Nouns Sailing?
The Nouns burgee flag debuted at the 2023 Nouns Sailing event during NFT.NYC, representing the spirit of Nouns and the tradition of the Nounish community. Sailing isn't just a sport; it's a symbol of dedication and camaraderie. Sailors are the ones we can entrust with building the legacy and traditions of the Nouns Burgee Flag.
## 1. Sail with Nouns in New York Harbor for NFT.NYC 2024
**[April 3rd, 2024]** Following the success of [Prop 102](https://nouns.wtf/vote/102) and [Prop 173](https://nouns.wtf/vote/173), I would like to organize a sailing event on April 3rd in New York with the help of the Manhattan Yacht Club. It is important to gather at least once a year to celebrate achievements, brainstorm ideas, and share thoughts. I believe New York is the best place for such gatherings. In April, it was an amazing experience to meet everyone for the first time in person. I think next year, we will have even more loyal people visiting New York.
## 2. Support two Olympic sailors
**[September 2024]** In 2024, all eyes will be on the Summer Paris Olympics. It presents a unique opportunity for us to showcase noggles during this prestigious event. Rather than simply purchasing advertisements, I suggest a more organic approach – sponsoring Olympic athletes. My hypothesis is that by supporting these athletes during the qualification season, they will appreciate our assistance and, in turn, proudly display noggles at the Olympic games.
Should this initiative prove successful with sailors, we can explore extending our sponsorship to athletes in various other sports. My initial proposal is to sponsor two Olympic sailors during their qualification season. The Olympic Sailing Competition at Paris 2024 will comprise ten sailing events, with a total athlete quota of 330. Qualification rounds commenced in August 2023 and will continue until April 2024.
## 3. Road to J/24 World Sailing Championship
The J/24 World Sailing Championship stands as one of the most prestigious international sailing competitions. Our preparations for this championship will span an entire year. By fielding teams to compete in the J/24 World Championship, we aim to introduce Nouns to a diverse audience with different backgrounda encompassing professional sailors, Olympic medalists, seasoned veterans, all-female teams, collegiate squads, dedicated enthusiasts, teenagers, and newcomers who share a passion for sailing J/24 boats.
Our goal is to bring the Nouns community along on this journey to the J/24 World Championship! This event represents the pinnacle of sailing competition, and every sailor aspires to participate (List of J/24 championships - [Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J/24_World_Championship)). All teams involved will take immense pride in representing Nouns on such a grand stage.
Throughout the year, we will engage in rigorous training and proudly display Nouns-themed spinnakers in various cities across Korea. We have identified some of the most picturesque locations, including beaches, islands, and areas with industrial landscapes.
To further promote Nouns, we commit to maintaining an active presence on social media platforms. Sending teams to compete at this prestigious event presents a remarkable opportunity to raise awareness of Nouns.
Our dedication extends beyond the competition; we plan to work tirelessly throughout the year to promote Nouns. Regular updates on social media will offer insights into our practices, races, and maintenance routines. We'll showcase the elegance of Nounish spinnakers, whether in leisurely cruises or intense competitions. Additionally, we'll allocate time to master sailing maneuvers that may be less familiar to us as racers, such as figure sailing and cascade formations, which promise captivating visuals for photos.
